The Pathless is an indie game developed by Giant Squid and published by Annapurna Interactive. It was released in November 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and as a launch game for PlayStation 5. The speedruns for The Pathless are pretty lengthy, sometimes almost two hours in length. This All Bosses speedrun is cut down to show the highlights of some of the more notable moments in the speedrun.

Normally, an episode of Devs React to Speedruns features commentary from the developers on a full run of their game. Sometimes though, the speedruns could be a little too long, which would unfortunately not make for a great episode. So instead, we’ve worked with the speedrunner for The Pathless to bring you a sort of highlight reel of some of the best moments in this almost two-hour long speedrun. Please let us know what you think of this format and we can keep doing it for other super long games!

the speedrunner may have joined this commentary under special circumstances, but this should absolutely become a regular thing whenever possible. the insight of the runner as well as the interaction between them and the developers is awesome.

It's incredibly rare for speedrunners to have any social skills whatsoever. Some come to mind like tomatoanus or canteven, otherwise they tend to be rather emotionally stunted

Would love if a dev would just go "Are they not allowed to use the level skip?" in one of these videos for a game with no known level skips, just to see how the community would react.

@@mark_medina_ign4725 Please, don't. Don't ruin Devs react to speedruns with stuff like this. Make a different playlist with video where speedrunners talk, if you must, but please, don't ever mix speedrunners and devs again. It just ruins everything.

This is a much better integration of the speedrunner in the devs reactions, this is how it should be done, not how the spongebob episode went.

Speedrunner: This category is beating the all the bosses. Basically playing the game as intended as fast as possible. Devs throughout the speedrun: That wasn't intended....

well it means that they don't do any major skips or sequence breaks, so they do all the intended/required story thing to finish the game

Would love to see some timestamps on this kind of highlight compilation, to better get a feel for how long the full run was and which parts of the run are shown. Other than that, really nice and having the speedrunner interact with the devs is definitely a welcome addition!

Appreciate how the speedrunner gives shoutouts to the rest of community -- people don't realise that a lot of speed running is a community-based thing not an individual hoarding all the best ideas to him or herself.

That's cool the part where she steps into the temple towards the end reminds me of the game abzu, when you go into the portals and into these temples to restore the freshwater, the design is similar...it lends itself to the concept of a land underneath the waters of abzu....very cool.
