Franks makes a great boot I have a pair of type 2 Highlanders but this Patriot is resole able only from Franks they will not rebuild them and no pull loop but they are made in the USA and my biggest thing no safety toe option

Own a pair in walnut and have used them for roughly 3 months. Great boot, very comfortable and people love the look. Definitely not as tough at their type 1 Commander but it's lighter and almost half the cost. Very pleased and can't praise them enough

I have a pair of these in the walnut and I am also in the skinny ankle club and found that I can't get them comfortably laced. It is almost as if there isn't enough quarter material, which is kind of contradictory, so the hooks and eyelets push against the ankle bones. I am probably going to have to go the custom route for my next pair to get a better fit for my skinny ankles and narrow feet.

I am going through that as we speak. That may actually help me out better having a larger opening at the laces since I have some station boot zippers on the way. If the quarters were closer together it may not secure my foot down the way I’d hope. I did send in a custom fit sheet for my next pair measuring up my leg to the 10” mark and I’ll see how the zippers fit and if the custom pair needs to have custom quarters theyll have my measurements. Hoping it doesn’t since that will cost another $85 (fingers crossed)

In an another video i watched on this particular item, the gentleman in the video stated that the stitching was not made of Kevlar (which adds to the flame resistance.)

I wouldn’t doubt that. With that being said, I have no reason to believe that these will not hold up to my own requirements with wildfire season rolling in this year I am confident they will be more than up to the task. While being Wildland certified and being a volunteer firefighter we are trained in keeping a safer distance and calling in for the dozer to assist when necessary.

They can definitely make them. I’m not sure on price point though. The Patriots run about $350

I like boots, im no boot pro so this is just my opinion. Ironically i just seen and tryed on these boots last week also in 11 1/2, i found them at my local thrift store, they were Bran New and these must be somewhat pricey because the thrift store still wanted 60$. I love boots so i had to try them on hoping id like them, my opinion is the heal is way to high for the looks and the walking or standing on flat ground. These IMO are logging boots for when your on the steep side of a mountain (i was raised by a logger) And my step dad loved these style of boots. The build quality of the boots was straight buisness, meaning there are no frills or comfortable sole or insole. These are solid fairly thick leather and then the rubber sole. I have an old pair of wildland fire fighter boots that i love the style and build quality of. Theyre made by weinbrenner shoe company(made in USA) in Wisconsin, they have a perfect sized heal and they have laces but you dont use them(there 1 lace double tied up each side of each boot), the laces are behind the full front zipper, they've got a vibram slip, heat, oil, fire resistant sole, and they have a sewn double leather toe and heal cap. I recommend checking out some if you can find a pair. Mine are from 2012 and id hope there still in buisness. There the best wildland firefighter boots ive seen

wait you said it has a leather midsole and this is wrong the use a Vibram RUBBER midsole its not leather this is where Franks cuts cost to make the boot they use more man made products to make the boots and quality of the leather is Not top notch they buy like seconds from a tannery and I don't know if its Seidel Tanning Corporation in Milwaukee This is why they are not offer a rebuild on the boots

You are incorrect sir! (Watch my part two) They very clearly use a leather midsole, they may use a different type of rubber slip sole which is what they put between the very visible leather midsole and the vibrant rubber lug sole. The leather is that same exact hide as used on their T-1 Commanders. They are utilizing a different section which is where the grain tends to loosen up and is not as consistent and/or thick. This allows them to mitigate waste, allowing them to get more revenue from their hides. The reason they won’t rebuild is because the quality of leather is not up to their higher standards of leather that should last many years. That’s not to say that it won’t but that is where they draw the line in the sand. Great value.

Def a lwather midsole and rubber slip sole then rubber outer sole. In terms of leather on these boots the cuts are very poor quality, I assume the left overs like the belly area. Franks cleverly figured out a way to use the junk areas of the hide while turning over a profit.
