neither of these replies gets it lol, yeah, you're absolutely right. Colin is fantastic but nothing anyone could mentuon would make him a household name. this role as penguin could end up doing exactly that for him. I say this as a guy who advocated heavily for him to win the Oscar for Banshees of Inisheren so I'm hip to his work but he isn't known mainstream for that "one role."
@@brinnyxtremeI mean The Rock had huge worldwide appeal. Doesn’t mean he’s respected as an actor. I’m happy to watch Colin Farrell in something more layered like this.
I love that we're seeing Oswald's mother at least a little. In many incarnations of the Penguin, we see that when Oswald was a kid, his mother was the only person in his life who showed any mercy or compassion towards him (His own father and brothers hated him, and the other kids in school and whatnot were completely heartless towards him), and so as an adult he cares for her as best he can. How the Penguin treats others depends a LOT on how they treat him; He is brutally vindictive towards people who he believes have wronged him, but is also loyal, generous, and even downright kind towards people who do right by him. In case you can't tell, he's my favorite Batman villain and I'm eagerly awaiting this show.

@@bonsai-zone I don't see why you have an issue with this. If you personally are not a fan of super hero films/TV shows, you are in a minority. Many people enjoyed "The Batman" and many will enjoy this, the universe is certainly not "dying".
Colin deserves every award for his transformation. I can’t believe his performance. I never watched a trailer so captivating. I already loved his work, but no one can say anything bad about his adaptation of this supervillain. OMG He is the penguin from our nightmares. ❤
I still don't understand, how the make-up artists changed his eyes so completely. It almost feels wrong. There's not an ounce of Colin Farrell to be seen.
I have watched The Batman twice in the past few days and still cannot believe it is him. From the looks to the voice, and his actions. Incredible all-round, from the make-up artists to his phenomenal acting.
@@anas-432 Part of what makes Penguin such a fascinating villain is how versatile he is and how many different versions of him we've seen: He's been a suave and sophisticated yet slightly odd- looking gentleman criminal (The older comics, the Adam West show, and 'Batman: The Animated Series'), a deformed mutant living in the sewers with a gang of ex- circus performers ('Batman Returns'), a Cockney arms dealer (The 'Arkham Asylum' games), and here he's a Mafioso drug lord. Each portrayal brings something different, yet each one works.
I love how in recent years The Penguin has had a renaissance and has been interpreted as the underdog umbrella boy to kingpin of Gotham. Truly one of the Bat’s defining villains🐧🌂
This looks like it'll be my favourite version of him since the Gotham TV show (I watched up till the middle of it as it got removed from netflix) Despite all that shows flaws, penguin was an absolute highlight and I was invested in him every scene
Much like how Mr Freeze is a Shakespearean tragedy or TwoFace is a man ruined by his own personal demons, Batman’s biggest baddies have truly become something special each and all their own.
If James Gandolfini was alive, he could've been an awesome Penguin. But since we have Colin Farrell as that character, it's nothing but praises all around given how absolutely perfect he is in this role
Even though my favorite portrayal of the Penguin is the one made by Robin Lord Taylor, I cannot undermine just how good and interesting a character The Penguin has become thanks to Colin Farrel. This trailer looks epic!!

Very impressive. Colin Farrell is killing here as The Penguin. Really digging the "Sopranos" like tone here, really fitting for this incarnation. Also the cast here is pretty dynamite!
I can't see Colin Farrell anywhere in the trailer, the man has disappeared into character. One of the best performances I've seen in a while, I'm looking forward to the show.

The fact that this series received a TV-MA rating (television version of Rated R) is absolutely exciting. Get ready for a more dark and brutal series that The Penguin deserves 🤗
I mean, it's Home Box Office, so I expected nothing less. The rating is most likely due to graphic violence and it's most definitely a show for mature audiences.
It doesn't matter how many times I see the character, it is truly unbelievable to me that Colin Farrell is actually Cobblepot. Amazing work by all involved.
I'm sure I'm the only person who's mouth dropped when they saw Colin Farell playing Penguin. The whole time I was trying to place the actor and when the credits finally came I was shocked. I still can't believe it. It's a testament to his talents as an actor to be able to become someone unrecognizable. There's the make-up and hair sure but damn, his voice, his accent, his mannerisms are so unique and differentiated. He's James Gandolfini in this role.

I like that DC is very well aware that TV series are Tv series, and they are not trying to sell this a movie in parts with cinematic filters and stuff like that. Peacemaker also looked its budget, and it still delivered one of the best cmb stories out there.

I don't know what you're talking about... The cinematography looks very close to that of Greig Fraser, and the post-production filter also resembles the film. Matt Reeves will apparently want to make this type of visual aspect a property of his Batman saga.
@@AkataHabo-hx9ek Yet, MK was trash in comparison. I have to be honest i thought PM was a corny character in SS but damn i loved that season and totally came around on the character. I had no interest in it but now its one of my most highly anticipated show returns. btw if you liked MK thats great it just wasnt my thing so dont take the criticism as a troll on your opinion.
This trailer made me a little more at ease about how this series will portray Sofia Falcone. While I'm a bit disappointed that she won't be the massive, ripped powerhouse she was in the comics and the 'Long Halloween' animated film (In those, she was like if Luisa from 'Encanto' was an Italian mafia enforcer), the clips of her used in the trailer seem to suggest the show's kind of atoning for that by implying that she's still a MAJOR physical threat, just in a more viciously scrappy and aggressive way rather than sheer muscle.
From being the mother in HIMYM to being the hangman.....Cristin Miliotin has evolved her range. I just love it. Hoping this would make her a really big name.
I love how "the Pinguin" logo appears as the same way than "the Batman" logo. A clever way to distinguish the future James Gunn's DCU and the Matt Reeves Batverse
In the earlier versions, The Penguin was literally made to look like a caricature penguin. Colin Farrell just adds that penguin waddle, and the rest is just his new menace!
Unbelievably hyped. Farrell is a phenomenal actor and this will truly give him the platform and time to show his chops. The fact that many didn't even know it was him playing the penguin initially in The Batman is testimony enough
Matt Reeves, Colin Farrell and the creative team behind these two endeavors have created what will undoubtedly become a dramatic masterpiece that stands entirely on its' own. It's a tragic and gritty crime drama that just happens to be set in a universe with a Batman. Prestige television LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A lot of the people I spoke with didn't even know Penguin was Colin Ferrell. Most actors would not want to be so hidden in a role, I have to really respect him for that.

His mother was the only one who saw him as someone worth loving, and now that he's an adult, she knows he's trying to repay that kindness by ensuring she's as well- cared- for as possible.

@@ethanscott5734 idk, like people will fear him for a bit but his whole arc was moving away from the idea of being vengeance and trying to be a symbol of hope, which I really loved since so many people only see batman as that symbol of vengeance I think the idea of how criminals start reacting to that could be interesting to explore, like maybe him being less violent would make things like interrogation more difficult
@@AkataHabo-hx9ek his arc was him becoming a symbol of hope for civilians. Batman’s whole thing is literally striking fear in the hearts of criminals. I don’t see at all how it would be weird. He’s still Batman. Why would he want to become a symbol of hope for criminals? They’re the people he intends to scare.

I love how they showcase Oswald's love for his mother and his motivations in general. That's only been seen ONCE on screen, being the Gotham TV show. The Penguin from that show is my personal favorite Penguin yet, but this one may give Robin Lord Taylor a run for his money.

The Matt Reeves universe is the universe that is perfect for Batman and the villians. The versions of Batman, Riddler, and Penguin are dark, serious, and set the perfect tone for the fictional city Gotham. In my opinion, this is better than the older versions of Batman characters because many older versions were just too silly and perfect for a younger audience. This is the universe that is perfect for adult Batman fans. I cannot wait for The Penguin to come out, and I hope to witness more of this version of Gotham. (I also like Christopher Nolan's batman trilogy as well.)
This is the Gotham i've always been a fan of, the crime stories, the gangsters, the politics, the GCPD stories, Batman investigating murders and conspiracies... I really want this to succeed. Next i'm REALLY hoping for a Catwoman show. Maybe a Two Face or a Gordon show ? Huntress would also be perfect with her ties to organised crime.
Colin’s performance in the Batman was pitch perfect and this looks like the next step. Wow, phenomenal acting and Cristin is giving us an amazing Sofia. Chills down my spine.
Matt Reeves knows what we the audience want, he knows how to honour the characters, he knows how write/direct/produce excellently. I'm excited for this universe of Gotham
Admittedly, Colin Farrell has made a few duds (Alexander, anyone?), but he’s always been a phenomenal actor, beginning with his captivating performance in Tigerland. This limited series looks amazing. No one would ever guess in a million years that’s him.
If they bring back any other of THE BATMAN cast ( including a certain Dark Knight), this could turn to be one best Batman related show to come out in some time.
This looks like a cool crime series and totally justified unlike many Marvel series.... I'm so excited to see this and to see the upcoming Batman Movies from Matt Reeves. The first one was superb!!!!
They’ve led this marketing campaign for the show very well when it comes to the trail. The first couple teas some stuff and now this final one gives us more context to the story and because of that I am now fully in on everything. I’m ready!!👏
I’m so excited to see more penguin, but I must say that I’m also very very excited to see Sofia Falcone. Can’t wait to see her interactions with Oswald. God, I love this universe.
