Thank You for the indepth review of Percept 97. Spot on as always. The name change from Vcore Pro was necessary in my opinion too. It is very good that Yonex stiffened the head in these Percepts also, cause they are not so desperate for lead any more. I am very curious of your opinion on Percept 100D and Percept 100. It would be great to see your reviews on these racquets also. I was playing with Ezone Tour 98 2022 for a while, but due to balance and high swingweight it was too difficult to whip efficiently on some high speed balls coming at me. That is why I switched to regular Ezone 98 2022, which is much better in that regard, but lacks the stability and plow of the Tour version. I don't want to go for high static weight racquets since I am 41 years old (very good fit but still), so I skip the 97H and 97D, but did not grew up on regular, light tweeners also. I have good forehand, very good volley, good serve and decent two-handed backhand which suffers the most while playing low mass/swingweight racquets, so at least the general RA or twistweight should be highier for me. In your opinion, which of these three racquets (Percept 97, 100, 100D) could fulfill this gap of regular Ezone 98 2022 305g and Ezone 98 Tour 2022 315g the most and be whippy, fast, stable, with decent power, spin and better control in the same time? Would appreciate your feedback.

Thank you! I think the 97 would actually be a very good option for you as it's a quick racket with really good stability despite the lowish weight specs. I'm reviewing the 100 next week so stay tuned for that one as I think it could also be great for you.

@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thank you for the recommendation. I definitely try it when it will be available in my region. Can't wait for your review of 100 and 100D. I like to whip the ball with topspin and have a somewhat loopy stroke. But, I like to have control and precision in my racket. So I’m going to try the Percept 100, just bought it without demoing as I can’t demo the racket. I hope it suits my game even though it’s not a spin monster. But I hope I get satisfying spin. Hope you review the 100 and not only the 100 D which I am interested also but maybe not fit my radical topspin style of hitting.

I switched from my Pure Strike 1619 to this last week and I'm losing about 25% in power but gaining it back in spin and control. My Strike is just ridiculous at 335g, overshooting the baseline and service constantly and just pummeling the ball flat low. This is my new stick for 2024. Killer balance and feel. Using Tier One Firewire which has insane bite and spin and tension stays in it for a month.

Oooh thanks for the review! Since they’re both control & feel rackets, how does percept compare to head gravity MP especially in terms of control, feel, power, spin potential? (I think out of all the percept variants, the percept 100 would be the one most comparable to the head GMP)
@RacketsRunnersVancouver

You're welcome! The MP is going to be less controlled, similar feel, more power and more spin, compared to the 97. I haven't played with the 100 yet but as you said, probably the most comparable to the Gravity MP so maybe even wroth a head to head comparison in the future!

Glad to see your excitement about the Percept! Why do you feel it’s suited for high intermediates and advanced players given the low 315 sw, great stability, plus descent power and spin? Sounds like quite a user friendly player’s frame
@BrooklynZue
@BrooklynZue 10 месяцев назад
It is! I consider myself low intermediate and this racquet works really well for me. Small head size but sweet spot is huge and put it back to back with a 100 and you’ll see how small the differences is. Plus smaller head size works great do 1 hand backhand. For me, control is higher premium than extra spin potential and excessive power that’s hard to reign in.
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 10 месяцев назад
It's definitely user-friendly considering its VERY "player's frame" profile but this is still a 21mm beamed, 97 so, yes, it's stable but you still need a full stroke to get the most out of the frame.

Coming from a long tennis elbow history, I chose the VCP 100 and that has done wonder in keeping my elbow from flaring up. I want to move to the Percept 100 now. However, on paper, specs said 65RA. Then I thought I would give the Percept 97 a shot (60RA). Question: there are a lot of reviews out there saying that the Percept 97 is very stiff and felt stiffer than the Percept 100 (60RA vs 65RA). Any thoughts from the people who have tried both of these sticks?

My strung SW was 308. Yonex QC is all over the place in recent years. Way under spec, I had to put 4 g at 12 and it felt better. This racquet rewards full and fast swings, but as soon as you play at a slower pace or pick up slower balls the racquet felt dead and very unresponsive. Servo Filter kinda works, it feels way better than VDM, but still muted... it's a good platform control frame, but I wasn't impressed, there are better options for feel/control IMO!!!

I started playing a couple of years ago, my first racket was a Clash V2 Pro 100 great to begin with but one year after I switched to Blade V8 98 16x19 and that was a very demanding switch it took me time to get used to it but it satisfied my needs. Overall I thought I needed a different racket more forgiving and powerful, I have been trying the Yonex Ezone 98 for the past ten days: great racket but I had to change my way of playing and am very doubtful about switching to it. Luca, I'm a 40 year old guy playing with an Ezone 98 (Osaka LE). I would consider myself an intermediate level player which makes lots of mistakes because I'm over hitting balls and my shots are usually landing too long. I tried to damp down the "agressiveness" on my game, but that is the style I like to play... My shots are usually flat. So I've been thinking on moving to a control raquet and I am divided between the Blade 98 16x19 and the new Percept. Could you please try to give me some tips on these two raquets? I have played with Ezone98 and found it has a great balance of power control. IF you really like how that swings you could experiment with different string setups to increase control. I had a chance to try the 100 and it felt really good in terms of stability and stiffness. I watched 4 videos you made, like all of them. I play Vcore Pro 97 HD 18/20, 320g, with yellow yonex strings , 23kg. Very flex frame. What do you think, what kind of player is it best suitable for? I am 40, quick, strong, but I am a self made tennis man , who played soccer and then switched to tennis (in my 30s). So, my point is, my technique is good, but this ist not the technique of someone who have started to play as a child. Sometimes I feel great with this frame, but yesterday I was.. very often late to the ball and this racquet did not like it at all, more unforced error then Djokovic ve Sinner ;) I play.... allround tennis, not heavy spin but not only flat. ...Maybe you can recommend a frame for me, espacially something from Yonex (eventually Toalson or Diadem). I can understand why someone with your background would appreciate the low-powered and controlled nature of a racket like that, but if you did want to work on developing a quicker, snappier tennis groundstroke, I would highly recommend something lighter, with a 16x19 string pattern and a 100 square inch head size. The control will be lacking at first but it will force you to add spin to your shot which will have an overall positive effect on your play.

I coached children in this age. Generally 300 grams racquets are too heavy for 10 years old child. Try some lighter version 280-285 grams, but only if he/she play tennis for time and developed proper technique basics already. If he/she is a complete beginner try even lighter racquets than that.

@zulugula5494
@zulugula5494 10 месяцев назад
@@grainsdorIn my humble opinion, the 10 years old child and his coach should focus on developing proper technique first which can generate power when is executed properly, not on the power itself. Assuming that the 10 years old competes already and has the proper technique, it should be a matter of personal preference if there will be enough power, control, spin or not. I would not sacrifice comfort matter for the 10 years old also. Generally lighter racquets are stiffer to compensate for lack of mass, so there will be not much difference in stifness between some i.e. Babolats, Wilsons or Yonexes. Generally according to my experience, children in this age matter the colour of the racquet more and the fact that their favourite player endorses it than how it actually plays or how much power does it have. If it was me who had been asked about it, without knowing how the child plays, I would recommend the Yonex Ezone 100L for advanced one and Yonex Ezone Ace/Game for the beginner. These should have sufficient power for sure and enough control and comfort also. Hope I helped somehow. I am not English native speaker, so hopefully I did not mixed up anything much.

I don't know why Yonex thickened the beam by 1 extra mm to 21 mm from 20 mm over the 2019 Vcore Pro Version? The Matte Green Vcore Pro 97 (2019 version) was well specd with a beautiful thin 20 mm box beam but a little too mushy feeling and flexible, making the racket under-powered for providing more control I guess, but that completely took away the connected feel and crispness from the racket, I hated that. Now Yonex have thickened the beam by 1 mm and I hate that as well because it takes away the feel of the racket and makes it more difficult to maneouver and increases drag and air resistance.
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 5 месяцев назад
To a certain extent I agree (I still wish it was a 20mm as well) but the Percept is miles better than the Previous VCP 97 in terms of feel and that's in large part thanks to the fact VDM is gone. Give it a shot if you can!

Do some players like stan wrap their overgrip only 3/4 of the way up to try and minimise the change in weight distribution that the overgrip imposes on the racket causing it to be a bit more head light???
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 5 месяцев назад
It's so minimal at that point (we're talking 1 gram at the least consequential place on the racket) that I don't think that's the main motivation, and if it is, I would say it's mainly placebo.
