You are FLIPPING awesome!!! You give me confidence that I can use my 1985 40’ Trojan by myself. Also work on my 454 Crusaders. Wish I could post a picture.
Great work on these videos Cullen. I'll be interested to see how you work through the trim tab repair. The starboard tab on my 41 Commander is on the fritz and I think I've narrowed it down to a bum motor on the Duff-Norton actuator (I think they're Duff-Norton MPD6405-3 ). From the video you did when it was out of the water, it looks like the Commander 41 and Corinthian share the same trim tab setup. What I discovered with mine in troubleshooting the trim tabs so far is that if I disconnect the actuator traveling nut from the tab, I can rotate the telescoping tube out of the outer tube (it's not seized). But when it's all hooked up to the tab I hear the relays switching on and off but there isn't any movement in the actuator, not even a jolt of movement as it tries to move the worm drive between the motor and the piston (or whatever you call the business end of the actuator). So this leads me to believe that the failure point is somewhere in the motor instead of a seized pinion/worm gear. I didn't know what an actuator was last week so this could all be wayyyyyy off the mark. Regardless, I'll let you know where I net out in case it helps you.
@@CullenCraft Been watching boat channels for over half a decade now, you're just the first of very few solo dudes (in a powerboat) that I feel relatable. Truck and house is paid off, student loans and savings then it's boat time. Looking forward to your future adventures.
Mad Hatteras is in the background at Sadler Point, beautiful cruise! I’ve got a diver who works Lambs who will get the barnacles off your props. Glad your boat is working properly, I’ve seen you cruise by a few times now, she’s looking good.
Gosh Cullen , you are doing so good as compared to earlier videos. Oh my, the views are fantastic. I know the feeling regarding the wind, currents, and docking. It’s scares me too. Remember, if you get in trouble, go to neutral, and of course your brakes are reverse. The pressure, the emotions, I’ve experienced it all. Always have a plan for docking. Don’t forget forward reverse. Took me a while to figure that out. Cullen, your boat is so nice. Your doing great! Enjoy Captain! I’m loving the videos!
Well done. You are really doing well with this big boat. Only one thing when I enter any marina I get on the radio and ask for help from the marina staff to dock my boat. It makes things go much smoother. You really need to give yourself more credit, you can do this and just keep calm. Take care dude😎🇨🇦
You could moor up in that spot on your own… just pull up along side the dock on your starboard side and throw one stern line over a cleat on the dock and tie it back to your boat in a loop… then kick the port engine in to forward gear and the boat will pin itself to the dock and go nowhere. Giving you plenty of time to get the bow tied in and some mid ships lines on.. then you switch off and sort all your lines properly. When you get really confident you can have a long centre cleat line that you can flip over a cleat on the dock from your upper helm then whip it round a couple of times.. you can do it… your a smart man and you’d look cool as hell doing it🙂
@@CullenCraft That's my plan...yeah good ones are expensive. I've put cheap ones on little boats before, and they work fine...but I'm planning to put a good quality set on Thirsty Whale!
That was very cool! I hope you get to have many more fun adventures on Big News. Can you really call it "camping" when you're sleeping in your own bed?
And with a fridge, and a grill, and all of my clothes, and a laptop, nintendo, running water, two toilets, a shower, and that's all before you turn on the generator!
@@CullenCraft I lived on DDG 19 back in the 70s. There was a bar at Mayport village with the best draft beer soils in frozen mugs. Went fishing on a party boat.
Good for you brother!! Made me laugh to see how unsure you were of yourself, and yet you still went for it and had such a sense of accomplishment on your face. You did scare me a bit when you were walking around on the bow while the boat was in motion. Don't think I saw anything holding you to the boat in the event you fell in. Would have been bad for you and bad for whoever was on the other end of the boat when it ran into something and someone. Please be careful!!
I'm back, had to tell U that! When i started video back up U made the comment about U were abt to give up...DON'T YOU EVER GIVE UP! U DON'T GIVE YRSELF ENUF CREDIT, U GOT THIS,JUST TAKE A FEW DEEP BREATHS,CALM YRSELF DOWN, & GO 4 IT! JUST SLO DOWN,RELAX YRSELF, & DO IT! U GOT THIS,..I'M IMPRESSED W/U N EVERYTHING U'VE DONE W/YR BOAT!🥰
There's only about 4 minutes of carb footage total, and of that maybe 2 is usable. I didn't do the rebuild myself, so there's nothing interesting to see. Just unbolting and bolting back on.
I do not right now because the steering wheel is unhooked. I need to reinstall that, but it's a bigger job than it seems. The gauges, throttle, and shifters do work though.
Hello ‼️ I always enjoy your videos, very uplifting. But dude, you need to have more Confidence in your Ability. Confidence is the biggest part of the Journey ... With it, you can do almost anything ‼️🙂 Stay Safe my young friend ‼️
