I wish I had money to buy enough bottles to make a collection. On my budget its two to three bottles a month depending on price. They never seem to last past a month.
Great list most I’ll never get but appreciate your palate. The older I get the more I stay in my comfort zone not only with what I buy but what it cost. No longer do I need the next new thing. Just not important to me. Of course some of this is because of distribution and availability and cost. It’s tiring chasing bottles. In fact there are certain reviews I won’t watch because I’ll never see that bottle again because of availability or cost so just not worth knowing about it. Enjoy!!
It is clear to me that one of the reasons I enjoy your channel, aside from your banter with each other, is that my pallet aligns very much with both of yours. Henry McKenna will always be special to me and is always near the top of my list. Knob Creek and Elijah Craig just can't be beat. Thanks for sharing these lists. I enjoyed seeing them and am lucky enough to have many of those on my shelf as well. Cheers!
Great selections! Really like some of Barrel Bourbon offerings, batch 31 and 35. New Riff is great. I like the single barrel and I just got their 8-year. I have a lot of the other bottles except your high end special occasion bottles like GTS, KoK, JD 12.
Just had my first New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon. Good stuff. I get Brown sugar and orange on the nose and orange and honey on the pallet. Think I’ll pick up a back up!
I'm more like Josh, however, I def will use Early Times to make an old fashion. Not that I wouldn't drink it neat but who can argue with mixing a $23 liter?
I love the full flavor low proof stuff too! As I’ve gotten older i’ve found that I don’t like the high proof pours near as much. I still own a bunch of them and enjoy them but i have started moving away from them. I’ll try the Bowman Port finished as I like their other offerings. Good video
100% correct on availability. Seems like their supply has dried up. Unfortunately it happens but if they had a steady flow they’d absolutely be included!
Good call. M10B in 2023 was special, but we’ve tried a few over the years, and the 2023 single barrels were the only ones that wowed us-and not all of them. The right M10B single barrel and you’re spot on though!
Just ordered a Four Gate Kelvin Collab 6. Hopefully that will become my special occasion bottle. Right now it's Stagg 23a and one of my super special Nashville Barrel single barrels that stands above the rest. Daily easy sippers are Wheel Horse 101, Eagle Rare and Evan Williams 1783 Mid proof goes to Tumblin Dice SiBBP, Pursuit United Double Oak and Weller 107. Higher proof would be Nashville Barrel single barrels and Jack Daniels SiBBP.
Enjoyed watching this. We have some similar tastes. One that I've found as an inexpensive and multipurpose is JW Dant BIB. $15 in the Tulsa market. Excellent sipper like ET BIB & WT101. I'm a big Rare Breed fan and Redwood Empire. 🥃❤️🥃
Erin, the only ones I've had from your collection are the Evan Williams BiB and the Elijah Craig (the regular, though, not the barrel proof), and I have to say you have good taste. 🥃 Josh, of yours I've had the Wild Turkey 101, the Elijah Craig regular bourbon, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, and Knob Creek single barrel. Of those I prefer the Knob Creek (Kelly Liquors picked a marvelous barrel), and the 9 year is in fact my favorite bourbon; the Elijah Craig; and the Turkey. But I've almost uniformly found Buffalo Trace whisky okay at best.
Low proof high flavor: Widow Jane Decadence Higher proof Balanced: Rare Breed, Knob creek Selects Special Occasion: Anything else I like Easy sipper: Eagle Rare, Blantons, Knob Creek 12, Elijah Craig Picks, Buffalo Trace Picks A Little different: New Riff Single, JDSBBP Rye Good Budget: Knob Creek 9 Mixing: Every bottle I buy and then find less enjoyable than my cutoff to drink neat (right now ~Michters Us1 Bourbon/OF1910 level)
Interesting video. I’m looking forward to the others. For me I really don’t put any of my whiskey in a category. I just drink whatever I’m in the mood for whether it’s a low proof or up to one of my hazmats. If I can’t decide what I want then I just spin my randomizer wheel where I have all my whiskey put into and let it decide for me. Whatever it picks is my drink for the night. I do have two very special bourbons to me that I have no desire to share with anyone. The reason is they are so good and it would be almost impossible for me to find a backup to either one.
Finally we get Erin’s bourbon collection list!!! I’ve only had two on her private stock list. I can’t wait to try the others now. Thank you both, this really makes it fun!!!
Our dynamic is a bit different than most. I’m the bourbon nerd and Erin doesn’t commit whiskey knowledge to memory, so she specifically asks me to do the majority of the talking and she adds in the color commentary as she sees fits.
I had went overseas for work back in March and I tried to find the NCF Rare Breed and none of the Duty Free stores had it...I was bummed. I love some Rare Breed.
