The crown has been called the “single-most productive procedure” performed in dentistry today. With the ability to relieve discomfort, protect a tooth long-term and blend into surrounding dentition, it’s no wonder that over 2.3 million crowns are placed each year. And, to deliver a crown in a single visit, while maintaining accuracy and the highest level of patient care, is a sought-after capability that many clinicians would like to offer to their patients.
Join Dr. Brett Titensor, a general practitioner and avid lecturer, as he walks through the step-by-step digital workflow of “the perfect CEREC®️crown appointment.”
During this session, Dr. Titensor will review:
• How he uses the CEREC®️ digital workflow to diagnose, plan and treat each case
• The step-by-step process involved, from initial tooth prep, scanning and design work, to milling, fitting and finishing
• Roles and responsibilities for key team members to make the one-hour crown a reality
• Tips and tricks for shade matching, staining and glazing to ensure predictable and esthetic outcomes

I just did a crown yesterday in 65 minutes start to finish. I haven't found a way to make that predictable. And that's not including build up. It was a 8 minute prep, and 11 minute design.

$1200 for less than one hour ? That is ludicrous. Way to get rich.

You don't clean the tooth or the crown before cementation? Ivoclean, Gluma, Peridex, etc? I wouldn't want that cemented in my mouth like that

Why is a crown so expensive? It is highway robbery . Just makes a dentist rich.

Dental technology is very expensive. A cerec machine setup with in house milling can cost up to 100K or more, or they have to pay huge lab fees every month. A basic pano/CBCT machine can cost around 30K. Xray sensors cost around 10K each, and a functional practice needs several of these. This is just the tip of the iceberg for cost of items that a functioning dental practice needs in the office. The dentist has to pay overhead costs for running a practice, including lab fees, employee wages, federal and state taxes, utilities, software payments, student loans, system repairs and replacements, disposable sterilization and patient materials, building repairs, etc. Dental materials are very pricey. Most of the time a dentist barely makes a profit on things such as fillings and root canals after you factor in the materials and overhead costs. Not to mention that the cost for a dental degree can be up to or over 80K and buying a practice can cost 500K or more. Dental insurance only pays their portion of fees, but the rest of the cost has to come out of patient pocket. The dental office has to charge a profitable amount to cover all of these costs and make a profit to cover other possible unexpected expenses. The AC system just broke in my dental office. The quote for a new system is 33K. This will need to be fixed or we will lose patients due to the hot uncomfortable conditions. It is expensive but this is the cost of keeping a dental practice in business.
