I'm going to be getting a mazda3 hatch soon but should I spend extra for the larger CX5? The CX5 looks more luxurious then the 3 and is probably more refined but the 3 will handle better and it'll be more "enthusiast"

Tech Defender I have the same decision to make.... was initially looking for a 3 Sport but worried it night be too small for my needs (getting rid of my Golf Wagon). At this point I've pretty much decided on the CX-5, which is still a great car, but will trade off that Mazda3 handling.

the handling on the cx-5 is very surprising, i drive a mazda6, my brother owns a cx-5 and it handles like a sedan just felt taller, he owned a mazda 3 a few years back and the space was terrible, the mazda three is for single people looking to get married soon and not thinking about kids lol

I'm was brought here because of turbo lag and heat soak. Looking for a responsive, consistent engine with conventional transmission. Currently driving a 2010 vw gti with dsg transmission.

If you had to choose between Espace Initiale Paris and Mazda CX-5 top trim AWD AT 175 diesel, which car would you pick?

if Mazda wants to upcharge for its "luxury" vehicle, it needs a turbo engine and Applecarplay at a minimum. I mean a CRV, the markets best seller is faster than the CX5. You are slower than the benchmark. Not sure how you are going to attract non Mazda fanatics with the sales pitch of "it handles well for an SUV".

You do know most people shopping for an SUV or CUV doesn't care how fast it accelerates right? If you want acceleration then you won't be looking at crossovers. CRV sells well because it has larger space for cargo and more utilitarian imo. Also I don't get the turbo engine part. Most luxury vehicles used to have na engines. Having a turbo or not does not define luxury. IMO the interior and the overall design of the car, as well as new tech and gimmicks plays a more crucial role of whether it is seen as luxurious or not.

ek Der my mom bought the Sportage SX solely on acceleration....and her jeep Cherokee V6 before it

+Blake Swan, which is why I said most people. Some people like the acceleration, but it is not the be-all and end-all factor in most people's decision to buy a crossover. If they really want to have a car that accelerates fast they would not normally go for a compromise that is the crossover due to the weight of the crossover compared to coupes or sedans.

ek Der I agree to a point. The Rav4 is dangerous slow but sells in huge number because Toyota. Mazda customers have higher expectations. They want speed and handling. That was what they were know for. Not there mainstreamness

Yes I guess expectations are different for different brands. I think Mazda has been focused more on handling than speed recently though.

clearly you dont own this car. I do, it handles incredible, ive drove half of europe and its super comfortable. My friends have more expensive BMS and Audi and they love driving the Mazda CX5 more and they say the inside is much better class than their cars costing twice as much.
