I just tried this amp randomly at a music store and couldn’t believe how good it sounded. My buddy and I were and awe. What’s surprising too is how insanely low the background noise is, even with the gain maxed.
Nice laid-back intro piece, love those slightly dissonant chords! The amp looks and sounds great, lots of cool features. I'm glad they added reverb; for those of us who don't need fancy reverb units but just like to have a little bit of 'verb on all the time, it's one less pedal to worry about!
I was so excited to hear about this amp, and the demo didn't disappoint. Shawn's chords and playing would make even a toaster sound great, but I'm sure we will hear many amazing recordings from various guitarists using this thing.
Oh NO! I have G.A.S.! I just checked the website and it's priced really well too. Ugh! Now I have to figure out what to sell to finance it. I had always wished the D20 was available in a combo. I ended up buying a modeling amp, Catalyst 100, which I am happy with, but this would definitely be a step up. Thanks for the demo and the GAS Shawn. ;)
Nice amp! The character of the different guitars you've used comes out crystal clear... A bit more on the Marshall side than the Fender side I must say, but it's very balanced in the tone even when at 5W, nice job!👍 And of course your playing is awesome!😎
This made my mind up. I’ve been looking at/researching the D20 for a while. Think I’ll grab myself one of these little jewels as soon as they are available!
I'm considering one as well . . i feel like the finalists for me are boogie badlander combo , or a Friedman JJ junior . but I feel for direct recording this will offer more than those others
So pro sounding. 2 and 4 sounds gives my perssonal fave with the reverb. I would like to hear it with some steely dan. Shawn is the man. Thanks for the video.
Great seeing and hearing your involvement in the development of this project Shawn. How might you characterize the D25 difference with the creamback vs the V-30?
@@ShawnTubbs Good deal, glad I went with the V-30, as I have a Creamback in a DRRI already. Pulled the trigger on a custom combo and tilt boost! First entry into anything Revv. Looking forward to the experience.
Sounds fabulous Shawn! Loaded with everything a player needs as a grab n go gig amp or session machine. Love the simple format. Volume wise, would this run with a cracking drummer? Comparing the output to my Tone King Imperial.. Cheers Bro!
Check it out Andy! usd.revvamplification.com/collections/builder?product=7587025027254&selection=Mzc5NjI2NjAsMzc5NjIzMjgsMzc5NjI2MjMsMzc5NjI0MjEsMzc5NjIzMzQsMzc5NjI0MjU%3D
I'd love to see revv do a 2 channel 50ish watt head with basically this as a clean channel and a dedicated drive channel that could do something like switch between the red or purple channel kind of voicings
How about a 2 amp in 1 small head, both channels switchable between 7 and 40 watts, separate 3 band EQ’s, separate reverbs, effects loop send level, solo boost with it’s own volume works on both channels, 6 button foot switch with separate for both channels, solo boost, reverb, effects loop on/off and a mute. Need to check out the Revv Dynamis 7-40. It’s amazing…
@internetselling i know they do the dynamis 7-40 but i find i prefer the gain sounds from the generater series, especially the red channel, but much prefer the dynamis clean channel and how you can get it a touch dirty. The generator clean is just too sparkly clean for my tastes as i like to run fuzz pedals into a channel that will get a bit dirty when i hit it hard
Any thoughts on the major differences between the D20 head and the combo (other than the obvious format)? I’ve been thinking about a D20 as I mostly use heads/cabs… this sounds great.
I just ordered this amp from Sweetwater last Friday. Thank you for putting out this Demo! I want to use the amp as a stage monitor, while at the same time using the XLR out to front of house. Is that possible? The demo seemed like it was an either/or type of thing.
Shawn, you and this amp sound amazing! I love this tone, and love how it sounds with overdrives. I find myself playing a ton of 90s country shows, and this amp seems like a great size, and the two notes torpedo seems so useful. How would this amp work in a country twang setting? Would you recommend it for the 90s/Brent Mason country thing?
Lovely intro! REALLY nice!! Quick question if you don't mind, I noticed Uncle Larry plays a lot of old guitars and seems to love them dearly, conversely, you play a lot of modern and boutique guitars that appear to be equally as loved. In your opinion, do these new guitars compare? Take the Collings vs a vintage 335. What are some of the finer points. I'm guessing you've played them all before! As a lefty, I rarely see any of these and I would like to invest one way or another. Thanks again for the lovely demo and tune! Great stuff Shawn!! 🙏
Vintage guitars are really awesome but they are quite expensive and once acquired, they usually will need work if they are to play and intonate properly. My Collings I35 costs about 3 to 4 grand used and in my opinion, I would have to aquire 335 from the 60's to best it which would cost considerably more and it would probably need work on top of that. If you have the means, it's really hard to argue with a vintage guitar that has been set up but there are really excellent options if the vintage variety is out of reach.
@@ShawnTubbs Makes sense. Thank you, kindly! I've always wondered if there is an advantage to a vintage instrument, but with the caliber of craftsmanship from companies like Collings, Suhr, Tyler, et al, these new instruments must certainly play as well, if not better as you mentioned the older ones would certainly need adjustment to some degree. Thank you for taking the time to answer! 🙏
This amp seems like a great low wattage combo amp. Probably more suited to players who utilize recording and software regularly with the included Two Notes Torpedo and virtual cabinets. Probably a perfect amp for players who fit this mold. Myself personally I just like plugging into an amp (maybe a few pedals) and mainly hearing the amp and guitar in a room. Probably not meant for someone like me which is cool because there’s no reason for me to spend the extra $ for an amp with all those features I would never even use. Cool amp though and I like the idea behind it.
Can you still run out an XLR to FOH without engaging the speaker/load bypass? Basically I need the volume on stage from the speaker but still want to go direct to FOH, kinda like what you can do with an OX although that’s an attenuator.
Been obsessing over your amp Revv demos. The D25 sounds like it breaks up less linearly than the D40. That could be from the particular power tubes. The D4O also has a richer glassy sound. I'm wondering specifically what tubes come stock in it, and in the D25. The D25 might be better for "ratty" Delta Blues, while the D40 sounds more Dumbly to me. It just sounds bigger, and not necessarily due to the power output. I think the power tubes just break up more smoothly.
Wondering how I could integrate this with my Helix and powercab. Could you run 4cm with the D25 and then somehow route separate signal paths, 1 to the D25 and 1 to the powercab? Would that be dual mono or stereo? Wet, dry? Thanks
I can’t seem to find info on this, but with the d20 you could run the IR out via xlr and drive a speaker at the same time, is that still the case here or is it one or the other?
Yes, you will hear everything through the headphones output. To connect the amp to your Mac, you'll need an interface. You would run the XLR out that is on the back of the amp into the interface that is connected to your Mac.
I’m wondering if this would benefit from a bareface vented cab design, to sound bigger? This is a good step towards the P350 triple power amp modular combo system 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
@@ShawnTubbs Dans thinking about it so that’s good enough for me. 🤘🏽my roadie keeps pushing a pedalboard modeler, he just doesn’t wanna carry my stuff around??
👍👍 very cool. Sounds really nice ☺️ Update : well I liked it so much I just went to buy one. Really ? $2000 for an amp.?. Sadly these are not for a real working guitarist, only the elite rich folks ☹️
If you think 1899 is a lot for a decent combo you should check out some of the other boutique made in north american guys. 2k might get you a 5 watt practice amp from some of them 😂
@@ZacharyRyanMusic89 for 2k you could get two JC40 amps, an aby box, an od or distortion of your choice & a mimiq pedal and build a huge wall of sound. I'm not saying that is not a nice amp, but I bet it costs 2 - 400 to build & they charge 4 to 5 times that. A working guitarist cannot afford to make other people rich 😕
sounds excellent, good feature set… but is the price really $1900? If so, that’s a deal-breaker for me. No way I’d pay that much for this kind of a combo.
Here's my perspective. A Fender Deluxe Reverb RI retails at $1599.00. In my humble opinion, the D25 as a stand-alone amp will do quite a bit more sonically. On top of that, there's about six hundred dollars worth of reactive load tech along with it.
@@ShawnTubbs Thanks… but a PRS Sonzera 20 goes for just under $1000. I’ve only played that in a shop but I loved the way it sounded… There are a ton of combos out there with similar specs. It’s a competitive market space. I’m sure REVV has done a great job with this one. That ‘reactive load tech’ doesn’t mean enough to me… I just think they’ve priced it a bit too high. I wish them success but I predict this will be a slow seller at that price.
Wow, I’m surprised that I don’t like it. I love Sean’s playing as always, but it sounds like there is a nasally mid range that I don’t find pleasant. Sorry.
Dude, I'll be rockin this amp with my bud light and Dylan Malvaney poster in my garage. This amp gets that much loved EVH "negro sound" and I like it. Just sayin
You could order direct from REVV. They have an amp builder plugin that allows you to choose, tolex, front screen, and handle. revvamplification.com/collections/lunchbox-amplifiers/products/d25 Hit the green customize button and you can go through all of the options.
