Definitely going to use this for the hide boxes. Thank you for the pro tips and your experimentation with it all rather than just doing what everyone else does!
As weird as it is I’ve seen a lot of breeders pick up adults by their tails, it stressed me tf out and I hate it 😬 And breeders will tell you they love the tiny space, but they don’t. I keep my breeders in 20 gallons
what's your trick to receiving mealworms from Rainbow in the summer? I have them held at the hub and they all still are dead, 3 times now. Just curious.
Unfortunately, no matter where you get them from in summer they may die, so what I do is order them overnight shipping, it's expensive, maybe $45-$90 depending on package size, but I never have had an overnight order arrive DOA. Have you tried overnight?
@@GeekyGeckoCreations that is exactly what I was hoping you would say! I wanted to try that next but figured you had experience, especially in the heat. Thank you!!
@@tflan90 Since mealworms can be refrigerated, if you have a refrigerator for them, u can just order in SUPER bulk amounts, and the shipping costs become less significant if you do it that way since you're ordering so much to last you so long :D
You could order them at a diffrent time and breed them yourself. Super easy. Just need to make food for them and a few tubs. When they are ready you can keep them in the fridge
That's a great question, I would think so yes! Both Eco Earth and Peat Moss are easily digestible to the geckos since they are natural, so you should not have much if any impaction risk (unlike sand), and then since the vermiculite is only a 1:5 ratio, I really would not be overly concerned with it personally. We keep all our geckos humid hides and lay boxes this way, babies-adults and I've never noticed anything (yet) to give me concern. Great Idea!
