Loved watching your routine video, I get up at 5, drink my water, apple cider vinegar w a splash of green tea and I hit the treadmill then abt 20 min of light weights. I start eating at 11, ending abt 6. One day a week , I do a 36 hour fast, I use many of your delicious recipes during my eating window. I’m making the Red Wine Beef Stew for our dinner! The Spaghetti Squash Meatballs are a staple around here! Lol! 😋 bottom line, it’s all about routines, just being disciplined about being consistent. Also, watching your videos is key because of the support you give us and the incredible wealth of information you have for us! Thank you for helping keep my 25lb weight loss off for over 3 years. I just turned 58 and the same size I was in high school!
Thank you for showing us how it is done. Love the brand new footage. You and Trevor look great. I am approaching one year of doing IF and I feel awesome. Losing the weight and working towards my own perfect routine. Have a great weekend 👍😘🇨🇦.
Love this thank you! I love how you simplified your morning routine for everyone. Could you also do one for weight loss specifically? A morning routine for just weight loss? Also for way less can you include running and walking together? And how
Hi Lanie! I've found for weight loss specifically, a combination of walking and resistance training (paired with IF + AEN Nutrient Timing) tends to be a better option than running + walking. I have a few videos that cover this, but this is a great one to start with: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1VCPdG9Xa_Y.html
Honestly she justs posts click bait videos. Greg doucett absoloutley tore her apart and alot of her advice through all her videos is pretty awful. She over complicates weight loss / fat loss making it seem like were all doing something wrong. If you follow any diet or method albeit KETO or intermittent fasting it all boils down to calories in vs calories out. If you eat too much avocado you will gain weight.
I tried IF last year and I felt absolutely amazing. I don't have a weightloss goal, so much as a mental clarity and energy goal. I have Fibromyalgia and severely low energy levels and the doctors I've seen have no answers. This is the last 10 years of my life. I'm going to stick with it this time, although decaf coffee is going to have to replace regular, as I'm off caffeine now. We will see how it goes. Nice video!
When I was in my twenties I would never have dreamed I would become a person who lifts/runs fasted. But I am because I love it and feel amazing during it! It takes some time to get used to but it’s so worth it. At 50, I would not do it any other way. Thanks for all the good advice Autumn!
Experimented with coffee over two years, mostly because it was touted as a fasting helper, but each time, whether limiting coffee or not, it progressive kills my sleep and affects my blood sugar levels, so it is out, just cannot drink it. f The water issue is strange. On no carb, I don't crave water and seldom go out of my way to drink it during the day. I do find I tend to drink a couple of large cups of water in the evening before bed. I also find that I drink one after my walk in the morning. The only days I drink water during the day is working outside in the heat, I will get a cup every couple of hours if I am sweating a lot, but it is mindful more than a craving for the water. To me, the amount we really need is very confusing when low to no carb, and I do not think it is as simple as more is better, but we each probably need to find our own levels. I do not drink while eating if I can help it. I actually tried LMNT per your recommendation for about two months, cannot say one way or the other if there was any benefit. This is not a critic, just my experience for reference. The flavored versions just taste like a sugar drink, which being no carb can be quite the experience. I have even been progressively lessoning salt over the last year and it does not seem to hurt. I do a lot of work in the sun, high heat and humidity conditions, which should be the worst for electrolyte conditions, but it doesn't seem to matter. Haven't had a headache, cramp or sunburn in two years now, except each day after I stopped coffee, and I do not get tired throughout the days, even in brutal conditions and a heavy work load. Dr. Sean Omara has some very interesting info on running and metabolic health. Good info to think about when running. I don't think running when fat adapted will be that harmful metabolically. Mechanically, different deal. I do find that no carbs at all really makes a huge difference with recovery and energy levels staying steady. It is so much more level than even low carb. Worth a try if that is an issue to anyone. Fasting of pretty much any length seems pretty easy this way as well. I have done two 4 day fasts this year and several 3 day fasts over the last two years, each time making myself eat at the end because I did not want to go longer, but performance and/or hunger were no issue throughout any of the fasts, either working, or working out. The only issue with shorter fast, 48 or less, is that my brain tells me that it is a meal time and I do have to fight off the mental reflex to eat, but it is much more mental than a craving or a hunger signal, which is very interesting after most of my life eating by habit, and more so that on the longer fasts it doesn't seem to happen. I also no longer worry about a fasting window, though I usually eat two meals a day, one between 7-9 and another before 1pm on most days, but if the second is later, or I skip it, it does not bother me. I find it very easy to not eat later in the day. Though, I have also upped my calories over the last couple of weeks to around 3400 a day, trying to keep about a 65/35 fat to protein ratio, and trying to be at about 70-80 grams of protein per meal, and it has really seemed to have kicked the fat loss into gear. For reference, I am at the tail end of reversing diabetes, with my fasting insulin at around 8 as of two months ago and my fasting sugars still just over 100, in the pre-diabetic range. I expect at the rate I have been healing to be free completely sometime in the next few months. I walk 6-8 miles a day, divided between early morning and last evening. Have around 50lbs left to lose after two years carnivore with no effort at weight loss to this point, specifically to focus on diet, but did lose around 35lbs over the first year and have stayed steady over the second. Started with an A1C of 12.5 and it is not in the mid 5's. I fully expect the rest of the weight to come off as insulin drops to a good level and ketosis then becomes more effective. Sharing just in case the info helps. One of the most frustrating parts of trying to heal from diabetes is a lack of info out there, at least it was to me. Many pre-diabetes heal very rapidly eating right, but extremely diabetic people seem to either heal relatively fast, or take quite a while. It seems from some groups I have been in that some take around 2.5-3 years with strict low, or no carb, diets for the ones that heal slowly. If you are not diabetic, any degree of attempt at eating right seems to be able to go right to fat loss, which is awesome. Never let yourself get to full blown diabetes! Good luck to all and good health.
Could you do a video on beginners resistance training ? I have a torn labrum but I know I need to do this as well. I fast and I walk atleast 5 miles a day just ready to add the training to it 👏
Hi Autumn! GREAT video!! I drink water as soon as I wake up, then move on to black decaf coffee, get my day going at eat about 9:30-10:30, depending on my schedule. I do walk nearly every day in a fasted state and work out several mornings a week. Drinking the black coffee is still considered being in a fasted state, correct, or am I nuts? :) Thank you!! 🙃
Thanks! I am confused about using the electrolyte mixes. They have Stevia or some sort of sweetener in them. I thought they would kick you out of ketosis / break your fast? Thanks again! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Hi autumn, so should I be drinking electrolytes (lmnt) prior to workout? It’s my second day, I’m new to IF. Yesterday my fasted strength training was good, but this morning I was super fatigued. I drink a gallon of water a day, so im assuming I was depleted of electrolytes. Im just confused if I wake up, should I drink a packet of electrolytes, that won’t break the fast right? I just felt so fatigued today. Im wondering if it’s because im brand new to this, or if I didn’t have enough electrolytes during my feeding window?
Yerba Mate in the organic leaf form has been a truly amazing swap for me. I had tried the black coffee with intermittent fasting and it made me crazy... Thinking of plain matcha in the morning, and yerba mate organic leaf form in the afternoon. It's inspiring to see your motivation and results. Thank you!
Unrelated to intermittent fasting, but why do most houses in California not have air-conditioning? I live in New England and with the hot, humid summers I cannot imagine living without AC.
No, you would need to eat 1 gram or more of combined protein and carbohydrates. You would need to eat a lot of toothpaste to do that, and you shouldn't be eating it at all. ;)
Hi Danielle! It does not! :) But I also have a blog post with the details here: www.autumnellenutrition.com/post/does-toothpaste-break-your-fast-intermittent-fasting-tips
I don’t like running I prefer to walk and is amazing you do loose weight and is better for your joints One does needs to becareful taking too much of electrolytes
I'm pretty sure the temperature of the water does not change anything, it's the caloric intake of something like coffee and creamer that throws your body out of ketosis.
I was never a coffee drinker, but when I gave up sugar, Mt. dew had to go. Now I only have caffine twice when I lift(3 days), once in coffee everyday(walk 3 miles after coffee, hour rest before lifting). I got liquid caffine, which I make a seperate drink 20 minutes before. Then have my creatine/beta alanine with my smoothie, eggs & cheese before 1hr of drums. Just recently learned doesn't matter when you take creatine, so I just mix it in. Been working out really well... Thanks for all the info, hope all is well. take it easy.
Any Calories break the fast!!! Why do people not get this. Black, plain coffee has no calories. I stop eating at 7:30pm. Drink water and black coffee up until I consume any calories... That is usually about 5:00pm. I have way more energy this way. There is Not more than one type of fasting. Fasting means... No calories.
It’s all motivation and eat healthy. When I say healthy means not intake much fat food and sugar but still treat yourself Life is short to eat over and over the same food . Not healthy either
