I'm not as good but I kinda skate a bit of everything like you. just setup an 8.5 enjoi after my ankle fracture I wanted a wider board to focus on transition a bit more. I feel like when my ankle is ready to flick the board more I would still like the 8.5 for all round skating. Tried thunders and I defiantly skate street with more style with them but I just love that indy turn. I'm tempted to try film trucks next.
I was Indy forever and just switched to the tensor mag lights on a whim. Not sure yet if I'll stick with them but not bad so far. I've been let down by supposed skateboard innovations over the years and become very set in my ways. Not sure if you remember those single bearing wheels....they lasted a day.
8.5” is for me really where the comfort level starts. I can dig 8” or 8.25” too but 8.5” is great. Currently on a 8.625” when the weather allows and that is a nice ride. Thunders Hollow Lights aren’t half bad. Certainly the IIs are really light and even lighter than the Indie Forged Titaniums. I do like the Indie turn better though. If we’re talking aesthetics I love the look of the Ace AF1s but they are heeeaaavy. I’ve got the orange Anti Hero from my pic set up with the gold Ace AF1s but I’ve barely ridden it yet as I’m busy on an old 8.25” deck for all the rainy weather that came to stay over the past month and a half. So nice to feel like you’ve found just the set up for you.
definitely agree on the 8.5 comfort, the width just hits different! Ace trucks look cool too, honestly don't know if I can go back to standard weight trucks, unless ace bring out a light version (dunno if that exists or not)
@@LewisFarley If Ace had a hollowed out version I might give them a go for a smaller board than my 9" Anti Hero. They don't though. But as is the weight difference is too noticeable. The jump from a 8.5" Thunder High Hollow II (324g) or a Indie Titanium (338g) to an Ace AF1 (396g) is a little too much I think.
