The Perfect Tiger Salamander Vivarium 

I have a tiger salamander, about 9 inches and while this is a great looking enclosure it really is not suitable for a tiger salamander. Tigers are burrowers,they spend a good amount of every day underground. They like loose substrate for easy digging. You need 6 or more inches depth. They also need a water source where they can soak and drink. Mine will use its water container daily. I mentioned they burrow, they dig up and rotor-till the substrate like crazy, plants would get destroyed daily. Having a couple logs,half cork bark rounds are good but have them on top of 6 inches substrate. The tigers will burrow under them

I never knew tiger salamanders thrashed her heads when eating! With their derpy looks this is adorable. This, however is about as far from a perfect tiger salamander enclosure you can get. You forgot the first and most important thing which is lots and lots of substrate for them to burrow in

How long do your plants live? Where are the roots supposed to grow? You were better off keeping them in shallow pots

mine just died i went on vacation came home and he was a skeleton i was gone 6 days. ikno my fruit flies had to have cleaned him up but what sucks is ill never know what happened to him. i recused him from an abusive home they tried to literally kill it with fire and stomped on it cracking its skull open at the jaw nursed him back to full health in less than a year had him 3 almost 4 years now and then this.

Hey great video, I'm looking to get a tiger salamander myself so I stumbled across this video and it was very inspiring! One question though, is there a drainage layer to this? Almost every bioactive set up I've seen had one but unless I missed it you seem to have gone without one?
