My Deep Dive Video on Werner Herzog: • Cinema's Most Brillian...
Legendary German director Werner Herzog is no stranger to absurd antics and bizarre theatrics. The story of Herzog eating his own shoe is perhaps the strangest surrounding him. The act and the story behind it are captured in Les Blank's 1980 documentary, "Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe." It's easy to dismiss Herzog's shoe-eating as one of many of his eccentric hijinks; yet upon closer inspection of the documentary, the very interesting and inspiring reason as to why Herzog eats his shoe becomes apparent. That reason and the story behind it is the subject of this video.

Why am I not surprised to learn it was Werner Herzog. Honestly, eating a shoe isn't even in the top ten weirdest things he's done.

The documentary, 'Burden of Dreams', is a fascinating look behind the camera of a true artist, and possible madman. I've never seen a Herzog film that didn't amaze me, and I believe I've seen nearly everything he's made. His search for truth in his work is something I can't help but applaud. I'm delighted he stole his first camera. :)

Dreamers yes, but it was perfect when Herzog characterized his characters all in one family as “desperate and solitary rebels, with no language to communicate, no shadows and no pasts- knowing their rebellion doomed to failure; they continue without respite”

3:00 Small nitpick - "irregardless" isn't a word. It's just "regardless". I think you're getting it mixed up with "irrespective".

It may be redundant by nature, but irregardless is a word.

@@RenegadeFilm86 And even if it's not, it can be created if it has a purpose to fulfil! Words are just tools for what we need to express. I like what you said here, and the way you put it, it does inspire me!
