Launched this month in Brittany the worlds first Diesel hybrid gets tested around the little town of Dinard. So yes here is Ireland's exclusive video of the future of the Hybrid vehicle.
I used to drive one. They go surprisingly well in sport mode and are really quiet and smooth in zev mode. But. It's still a 3008 - so it's not much fun. The DS5 hybrid was a lot nicer to drive.
There is an EV mode on the car that can carry it for a few miles but only at low speeds. The Volt is different in that it has a generator and whatever the power source the battery runs the car.
@toyotaprius79 yep, that's because Peugeot and Citroen are basically the same company and share technology. Peugeot developed the Diesel hybrid first though
@albertobenelli Thanks for the comment. I didn't mention the figures because I didn't get a chance to test them out, a couple of hours with a car won't give the proper figures. If memory serves, I got about 4ltrs/ 100kms while I was testing
This helped me to decide to go ahead and order one and am now awaiting delivery in the next two weeks. They have just launched the 99g/km SR (Special Edition) model which comes with the Nav Pack and heads up display which I have gone for. Shame there were basically no options you can add to it, oh and you have two colours choices, black or white. Will let you know how it drives. I hear the mpg doesn't live up to expectations
Well technically they developed it together just like many other technologies since they are together (the forming of PSA Peugeot Citroen back in 1976). It`s just that they decieded to launch it in 3008 1st. It was similar story back in 2004 when they launched Lane Departure Warning System only in that case it premiered in facelifted C5 1st generation and C4 1st generation.
I am not a fan of french cars but this sounds really smart, I wonder why no1 else has actually thought about the separate double engines like that. Still think its pretty ugly overall but aesthetics are subjective so its a good car :)
I'm a Mondeo man "literally" and you have just sold this car to me... I have never understood why manufacturers dont do diesel hybrids......can you help?
