The Phillies Season Is Over And We Are Sad 

Are we really sad? Anyone in their right mind knew that the Phillies weren't that good going into the playoffs. We were cautiously optimistic that they might wake up in the NLDS, but midway through game one we knew that wasn't going to happen. I didn't bother watching after game one. They clearly weren't going to win, and we were prepared since July for this. It's like when our 92 year old grandma dies; we've seen it coming for years and expected it.

Horrible at-bats. Swinging at curveballs out of the zone in 2-0 counts. Swinging at balls in the dirt. The discipline at the plate was nonexistent this series

Maybe I'm just getting old but after 48 years on the planet and living and dying with the Philadelphia teams - I feel exactly like i felt with the Sixers. Apathy and numb. When the team doesn't seem to care - i don't care.

The Mets are a tremendous baseball team that played better than the Phillies for over 50% of the season, including the playoffs. The Phillies played poorly and have a lot of talent, but the Mets have outperformed them for MONTHS. They are a better team, give them that credit

They need to have offset language in their contracts -- any ball chased out of the zone is a $100 fine. That will sort the batting problem. Then clear out the entire bullpen and bring in new guys.

When your 4 hitter bats first which allows pitching around your 3 hitter and the rest of the lineup struggles to hit 225...what do think is going to happen? For several years in a row too. Incompetence.

that 6th inning was a joke: keep the reliever in who was sitting in the dugout for half an hour through the top of the inning; wait until he loads the bases to pull him instead of when he showed absolutely no control over the ball in the first at-bat; then the guy you replace him with throws 4 straight fastballs to an NL MVP candidate they were so not serious about this game or series

Remember, Wheeler was a Met. The only reason you guys got him was Fred Wilpon. The Mets had the best record in baseball after the middle of June. They beat you guys 3 out of 4 at Citi Field in the last series there, then came back and beat you 3 out of 4 again. "You are what your record says you are."

As a lifetime Mets fan, I feel your pain but man do I enjoy beating the Phillies. Sending the Phillies packing, to me, is better than winning the World Series.

Who cares?? Over it already. It was still a fun season. Enjoyed lots of wins and big moments. They’re lucky they play here. Fans will keep supporting them. Manager may need to go. We will see soon enough.

Another guy who was duped and thought the Phillies were so good. They weren't. They were 50-48 in their last 98 games. People keep ignoring this for some reason. The numbers don't lie. The Mets were 62-36 in that same stretch.

Folks thinking the Padres are going to wipe the floor with the Mets are forgetting that the Mets owned the Padres in the regular season. Same with thinking the Yankees would eventually crush the Mets in the World Series: Mets swept the Yankees in regular season play.

Im not sad at all. Im freaking livid Ive been down this same exact path numerous times with the phillies since the 1980s. Number one, Im done with them if Rob Thomson doesnt get fired. The organization SHOULD NOT DO WHAT THEY USUALLY DO. they usually wait until the team is in total decline before firing manager . Thomson is just a cheerleader and hes a pushover. These milionaire entitled babies need a manager who throws equipment around clubhouse and curses them out sometimes. If they dont replace Thomson, heres their future: A couple more years of decline, followed by a complete rebuild period. Harper will have to try to sign with a winner at age 40, or just retire having never won a world series.

Any team that has Philadelphia as its city. Well, then tend to lose and disappoint.

Why would you allow something you can't control, a game played by millionaires, to make anyone feel anything,. especially sadness for a long time. I say enjoy the outcome if you win and simply move on with your life if there's a loss. You can't do anything about the outcomes anyway so why bother.

As a Nationals fan that lives in the area, I have to say it was a joy to watch you fall to the Astros (after we beat them in the WS), but this failure was even more enjoyable. I'm not sure why. Love every second of this, plus I made a bunch of money because the Mets weren't favored to win any NLDS games, lol. So good.
