I'm a little late to the party with regard to the Phoenix OC Slant. It's a Bakelite razor available in white, black or ox blood colouring, depending on stock. The fit and finish are good, especially considering razor retails at $19.90 USD.

I found the Phoenix OC Slant to give a very comfortable shave indeed. Initially, there was a little blade feel which lessened on subsequent passes, as the comfort increased through each of the passes. I found this to be a super efficient razor and I've exercised the option to give it an extra mark for efficiency. I had a bbs shave with no post shave discomfort at all.

Nice to see you try this one Mark. It is aggressive yet very smooth. That and the feedback is very satisfying as it is very audible. I love the post shave feel of my face afterwards. It is very light but the old adage of no pressure really rings true with this one. Cheers Mark!

Hi. Bryan. I did quite enjoy this one - it's strange, but I find that the Bakelite razors feel good in the hand and 'just right' in a way that aluminium razors don't. One of the best shaves I've ever had is from my Bakelite Merkur 45. It's an amazing little razor 🙂 I hope you're having a good week. It's rained here for a fortnight solid! Cheers.

Great shave, Mark. Interesting razor. I have shaved with the Merkur bakelite and didn't do well. I have since shaved with some light aluminum razors and am getting used to a light razor and my technique is getting better with a light razor. Have a safe and great weekend, my friend.

All that talk of Basil made me thing of Faulty Towers!. No disasters in the Shave though. Sounds a nice soap fair play to Dan for creating it. Great job with the PPA razor, might be at the top of the pile then?.

Basil! That was a daft program. It was filmed in Torquay, you know. It is definitely top of pile, so far. I have been loaned another slant by a kind gentleman, it will appear in a couple of weeks. It's a Merkur 39c. I hope Sharon and yourself are both enjoying the weekend. Cheers Paul.

I have the Oxblood one. Great aggressive razor! I'll usually use a blade on its last use because the torque bends some of the holes in that blade, or I will leave just one blade in it and use until I dispose of.

Top of world, Ma! I'm sorry, I just called you Ma, but that phrase jumped into my mind. Who used to say that, in the old movies? Anyway, good day mate. It was a great shave. I've been looking at an old Gillette Rocket HD 500 which has an aluminium handle and I'm unsure about it as my ATT aluminium razor does feel odd; logically it shouldn't make any difference. Perhaps it's me that's odd 😃

"Top of the world ma!" was James Cagney in White Heat, a classic old gangster movie. You may be a bit odd (aren't we all), but you're self-aware! BTW, I don't think the handle on the Rocket would be a problem, since it has other hardware running through it that gives it a bit more weight.

I haven't David. I have been thinking about it for a little while and thought I might try it during the Summer. I'm not worried about making the soap per se, but getting a nice scent I think will be very challenging. I might start with a simple hand soap. Enjoy your weekend, mate. Cheers.

Good to see that soap getting used! Everyone that's used it seems to like the scent. Im glad to have a proper Basil soap. Its my favorite soap scent. Looks like you got the water/soap ration dialed in now. Thanks for doing a review. It is very helpful to get other input on it. My next soaps will be a lime eucalyptus soap. Also I will see if I can make a licorice scented soap too. I haven't seen one in that scent yet. Cool razor too. Its nickname is the storm trooper because of the white plastic.

Hi Dan. I enjoyed the soap and I have, as you wrote, got the water/soap ratio just right. It really doesn't need much water at all. I haven't been able to get to the post office, this week; I'll try and post your other soap on Monday. I enjoyed the scent, as I said, I would love more lemon but the basil was very different. It leaves a great post shave feel. Good job, mate 👍😃 I didn't know it was called the Stormtrooper. I have just changed the title and picture for the video. Thanks.

Thanks for noticing my little joke, Keith. I went to a party once, got a bit tipsy and told a joke, in a crowded room - the joke died! There was communal groaning, shaking of heads and turning back to their previous conversations. I've been wary of jokes, ever since 😃👍

I enjoyed this one Gino. A lot of people, myself included were interested in the slant razors. I have one more to shave with, in a few weeks but then I think I will be back onto 'normal' de razors. Take care.

If y use Proraso green on regular basis, maybe y ask yr dealer to get y the 400mL bottles. In comparison to the 100mL the content per mL is abt 40% cheaper. Just trying to keep cost controlled...

Nice shave Mark and I would like to try the razor, but I want the white one and there is no option for a white one on their web site. I click on the slant and it says to click on "choose options". I click on choose options and there are no options, only black. It says the red one is sold out, but the white one is not mentioned anywhere on the site that I can find. It doesn't say it is out of stock, it doesn't say it is backordered, it doesn't even mention there ever being a white one in existence. That is what frustrates me with some companies websites. I watched you use a white razor, so I know there is or at least there was such an animal, but on the website it appears to have gone extinct.

Thank you, Randy. I'm sorry to read that the white razor isn't available from PAA, at the moment. I won't be buying one either, in that case; the one I have will be posted back to Graham, on Monday. I'm sure there must be some second hand ones knocking about on one of the buy, sell and trade groups. Cheers mate. Be well.

Hey again Mark, I sent a message to PAA and below is the reply I received: Hi Randy, The white bakelite razor has been out of stock for a long time and currently we don't have plans to bring it back. Our manufacturer recently raised all prices and increased our minimum order quantities to a point where carrying all three colors us not possible, and sadly, the white color was the slowest seller. We'd love to have all three but it's just not possible. Most likely, once we sell out of the black color we will restock the red only. We're not 100% sure about this but that is the current plan. I took the white off the site since we are fairly certain it will not be reappearing unless we are able to purchase significantly smaller quantities of it. Thank you for your e-mail. They seem to have messed it up at the factory, I'm guessing. If I hold it in a certain light I can see the outline of the 'Old Spice' text I think it missed the colouring phase.

It's Dan's homemade soap and it's just called Amalfi lemon and basil. It's an unusual scent with the basil but I quite liked it.
