When the beat begins at the "incredibly unbroken sentence" part, that is when you realize you are witnessing epic comedic genius at work. Combining Blue Monday with 'Darmok' was another stroke of genius. Truly, bravo.
Ages ago when I went to school, I remember a guy I used to talk to in class, casually revealed he was DarkMateria, the creator of this song. Was mind blown.

@@MrCantStopTheRobot it was ages ago, like back when ytmnd was still a thing. I had just blasted the song all week at a summer house me and my friends were partying at. It was still pretty new at the time, the word meme didn’t even exist yet. I remember he was a star trek fan and I asked if he had heard the Picard song, and he looked at me confused and said yeah, I made that actually. And I was so shocked by the coincidence that I randomly met the guy who made a song I had just heard all week, that I hardly remember anything else about our conversation. He was a metal musician originally and had no interest in electronic music I think. I recall he said the entire song was made as a joke in some shovelware music program for kids that I think was called magix music maker or something, and he had no idea it would blow up like it did.
The song was made years before it even became a big YTMND meme in the mid-late 2000’s. It was way ahead of its time, and has a ton of great ideas, choosing dialogue and speeches that have the perfect rhythm to be put to music. Did the creator watch through the show to find material for the song, or were these all moments that stood out as good potential samples? There are snippets from throughout the whole series, it’s not like they took the easy route and just focused on one episode. I’d love to know the inspiration and creative process that made this song happen.
I’m thankful for YTMMD because I would have never known about this song otherwise. Wonderful times to be online. Interesting questions about the original author though. If only we could ask them!
I’ve had a feral cat named Picard who lives next to my house for a few months now. He’s about 8 months old. I listened to this song every time I went out and played with him and fed him. He went missing a few days back and I haven’t been handling it very well. I think I am perhaps the first person in the world to cry to this song.

However, his mother has been neutered, and we are dealing with socializing what we hope will be the last batch of kittens to come from this colony so that they can be adopted as housecats. I’ve focused on making sure the rest of his family can live out happy lives because that is the best way I can think of to memorialize him (But i do wish this didn’t involve bringing them all food at 3 AM).
Dude how many times does this man act goofy in the show!? I only remember startrek being serious. Dude falls in love, smiles, dances, draws smiley faces, who is this man and why isn't every startrek Captain like this
I just came back here after watching the finale for Picard season 3, and want to say - this is and always will be the most amazing fan made tribute to the character of Jean Luc Picard. I'm glad we all made it this far to see the conclusion of his arc and character. Here's to you Sir Patrick Stewart for giving us this fine character, no one else could have done it.

I find it unreasonably funny when Picard shouts "there are four lights! 😃" and is just immediately electrocuted. I don't know why I laugh so hard at that, but it cracks me up.
I left this same exact comment on the original video 12 years ago from today to a whopping no upvotes or downvotes so I feel like I need to do it here too for old time's sake. The best part is where he said "Captain Jean Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise".
I'm so glad this was upgraded. I only missed maybe two of the original video parts, and they were made up for by the additions from 'Picard.' Thank you for the update
Unfortunately the audio suffers from compression artifacts. There are better versions of the audio out there. Time to splice that in my local copy of this. Appreciate the higher picture quality!
Great upgrade, but I think the changes from the originally take me out a bit. I swear there used to be an “HD” version of this that at least had smoother frame rates but otherwise was mostly the same to the original. Did it get taken down?
There's definitely been at least one HD-version before, yes. And as much as I appreciate the effort gone into this, I keep wondering, why doesn't it contain all the video samples? Like Picard saying "this is becoming a speech", etc.
It's cool that there are newer things in here from Picard, but between having not seen them yet myself and the fact that they weren't actually in the original I kinda think it's a bit more of a downside than an up.
4:08 You could remix the video to have Picard fighting the Naissicans or other fight (or even romance) scenes (tommy gun versus Borg in First Contact) for each chorus and I’d die happy. The verses are about words, the chorus feels like it should be about action, to represent both sides of the man.
