You forgot to mention that the Jogger class only exists in the gen 4 games and BDSP plus the fact that they can only be battled in the morning like how the Police Officer class can only be battled at night. You also forgot to mention that the Ranchers class' name in Gen 4 is Belle & Pa. When Sabrina is playing the Magic Queen her name is Bellelba.
I'm surprised they didn't bring in the sports trainer classes in Sword and Shield, considering how incredibly sports flavored the gym challenge is. I just wanna see a striker with a Cinderace.
As an IRL preschool teacher I love the description Lockstin uses for the Nursery Aide class. It is true. You cannot vent your frustration on the children
I really like these in-depth look of the trainers. So much goes into them that we don't give them a second look so it's when we get to know new things about them and appreciate them to.
@@TheTakato122 Umm what do you mean its not optional its always optional after you beat roxy. It does waster your time but that's everywhere in videogames theres always that one quest, mini game, etc that forces you to play it.Well i do respect your opinion.
So for the Striker class, Striker is also a different word for Forward, an attacking player. Liepard could be a referenc to golies with good reflexes beeing compared to cats, as in cat-like reflexes. My idea for Swanna is a bit of a stretch, but in soccer, when you fall to the ground without contact beeing made, its called a "dive". A "Swandive" is just a type of dive with your hands outstreched. Firthermore, the Water/Flying type fits the diving part.
Well I'd like to add info since there's more to it: that maid is only at Celestial Tower after you activate a postgame side quest by talking to someone in Humilau City who just got married and asks you to ring the bell at the top of the water. His 4 ex lovers then try to stop you from reaching it, their initials spell "jilt", which has to do with getting rejected, and they have monotype teams: the first one has fire types, like when the relationship flame is still big, the second one has normal types, like how the relationship then becomes stale, like a normal thing, a middle point. The 3rd one has ice, because the thing goes from being "ok" to just being cold, and the last one has steel which I interpret as being almost as cold as ice but hard instead of fragile, because of how them are now against him instead of being sad by being left by him, ice would be cold but fragile while steel is cold but strong or hardened. The first 3 trainers of this sequence is a waitress, a nursery aide and a clerk.
Flash is not an HM in Gen IV; the only dark area in Sinnoh is entirely optional, so it's replaced with Defog in D/P/Pt and Whirlpool in HG/SS. (A little short-sighted, since SoulSilver forces you through the dark section of the Whirl Islands, but whatever. At least the TM can be repurchased limitlessly.) And yeah, Bibarel can learn every HM except Fly and Defog, though Bidoof can only learn Cut and Rock Smash. (The real question is why Cowgirl Shelly's Bidoofs are all still Bidoofs when four of them are at or above the level they could evolve.)
I don't remember if he mentioned it or not in his other video but because his Trainer Class is Sage in gen 2 means that his name is "Sage Li" or "Sagely"
20:50 I love that Brycen's battleship just sends out himself. He's even holding an eject button, as if the battleship used its own ejector seat on him to save itself.
Motorcycle guy Charles, or Heartbreaker Charles, actually does different fights based on version! Triple Battles in White and Rotation Battles in Black version Anyone else remember Rotation Battles?
Same, there's some wild stuff there. He completely glossed over Majin. Dark/Ghost didn't have any weaknesses in those games, and that overpowered weirdo also has Wonder Gaurd
1:56 Sweet Arceus, that's outta nowhere. I guess this was sort of a "Roughneck Kirby" type deal flipped. The dainty elegant maid stacked up with intimidating Steel types. I love learning little trivia like this for trainer classes.
Tammy could also stand as a reference to “The Iron Maiden”, her placement in a graveyard could refer to those who died from being inside an Iron Maiden
@@BigManXecranim "Iron maidens" were never a thing in real life Tammy is the leader of the ex-girlfriends you have to beat, they all specialize in a type.
@@gladigatorrawr1480 Since when does a pop culture reference have to be for something real?:P There's no way with Pokemon's love for word play they didn't know what they were doing, iron maidens being sort of associated with torture/BDSM tropes is a not so subtle hint at why she's an ex.
The liepard and swanna in the Striker soccer players are a reference to the mascots of two famous British Football/Soccer clubs Swansea (Cyril the Swan) and Milwall (Zampa the Lion). The two clubs have a long rivalry and there has been violence on and off the pitch, including several unplanned fist fights between the official mascot performers in costume in the late 90's and early 2000's. most notably at one point Cyril (or the person in the costume) beat Zampa (again, assaulting the person inside the costume), ripping the costumes head off and kicking the head down the pitch to chants of " don't F*** with the Swans".
@@TheTakato122 I get where you’re coming from, and that makes some sense, but I think the capacity to use literally any 4 moves in the game is more indicative of acting than changing types to match the opponent’s attack. Not only is Smeargle a different type of artist itself, a painter, but I don’t know if the phrase “chameleon actor” translates directly to any other language. Pokémon is a global phenomenon and we can’t demand that they cater to the English-speaking audience more than they may be doing already.
The Rancher from gen 4 probably has ambipom because of multiple hands, the Golduck because of portable water/watering plants, and the giraffarig is probably just because it’s psychic and can get things from far away like tools
I see people hating on pokestar studios so much...but I love it! It's fun to make movies! And the fact that we can CHANGE the movie (three different endings!! Plus hidden bonus dialogue depending on moves you use when using your own pokemon! Like if you use Substitute against the "Gatekeeper" there is actual COMMENTARY about the fact that the gatekeeper looks like the substitute doll!) And I never would have guessed that Sabrina was an actress in her spare time! I think that's so cool! Also the directors all have names that are puns on real life directors and that's fun
@@myheartismadeofstars The main Problem with Pokéstar Studios is that you are forced to participate once whether you want it or not. As most players never return to it, they in turn remember it as "Tedium Incarnate". If it were completely optional it probably would be remembered more fondly in general.
My favorite PokeKid is the last one you fight in the last gym in DPPt. The only one in that game who, rather than acting like a pokemon, declares she’s hardcore because of her outfit. Gotta give that one props.
The Pokéstar Studio part irked me a bit because it's my favorite part of BW2 and you kinda just list them without much context of what they star in. Yet at the same time, it's pretty funny to see you get baffled with their trainer class names and the prop mon they all use.
I really love that Sabrina and Brycen are actors. They seem pretty calm and cold on the outside (in a literal sense with Brycen) but then you have as the extravagntly evil Brycen man. I just find it charming.
I wonder if Sabrina was made an actress (specifically in a villain role) because Sabrina herself is kinda villanized outside of the games? I remember Sabrina being...very scary in the anime, and while I don't know it as well, I think she was a villain in the Adventures manga as well? (I know a lot of gym leaders were allied with Team Rocket)
@@myheartismadeofstars I believe in the manga, if I recall, she was part of Team Rocker. Was she not? Blaine defected, Sabrina and a couple others were part of Team Rocket, and then Leaders like Erika and the other half were against Team Rocket? I can't honestly remember.
@@ElysetheEevee I'm pretty sure that's right. I've never really read the manga (mostly due to not being able to find it anywhere, but also THEY DID LANCE DIRTY making the Elite Four genocidal was a Choice and I cannot condone it!) but I'm pretty sure Sabrina worked with Team Rocket
Thanks for the pokéstar studios reference, the inverse timeline of humans and Pokémon swapping really surprised and amazed me… imagine how crazy it’d be if that somehow becomes cannon, I’m all in for it!!!
11:25 I thought, "Ooh the basketballs are colored like a voltorb." And then felt very embarassed when Lockstin went on to say that they were colored like pokeballs. Technically correct though!!!
It really sucks that they never did anything like the Pokestar stuido again, it was such an interesting idea with exclusive "pokemon" and trainers you only can fight there
It’s funny because in sword and shield in the battle tower there’s an npc who’s a poke kid and they say “I’ve been waiting 20 whole years for this moment!”
that last song you used while explaining "The Riches/Bourgeoir family", was that a bloons tower defense song? i swear i've heard that song when i played bloons monkey city a while ago (or at least, it sounds very similar.)
For the ranchers having such varied Pokémon, it might be a reference to My Pokémon Ranch for the Wii, which had no limit to what kinds of Pokémon you can have in the ranch and connected directly with D/P/Pt
Going through the pokestar studio trainers really makes me want to see a video about the origins behind the strange made up(?) pokemon in pokestar studio.

It was very interesting to learn about PokeStar Studios because I never actually did any of those movies when I played the game as a kid. If I still have Pokémon on my Black 2 cartridge, I should do those.
Preschoolers are certain my favorite classes! Also totally random but in the Ferris Wheel fight in BW2 you do fight a Preschool teacher that's a guy but that got changed in the english localization and is sad, but again have the whole thing about the Beauty in the Battle Mason in XY which was like one gen later.
Tammy is my favorite trainer. The one maid to break the mold. She should be a Steel type Gym Leader or Elite Four member if they ever make a Sinnoh sequel.
20:54 Bug and Fighting and justice? That's a Kamen Rider reference. Probably Kuuga specifically because Yusuke Godai worked closely with the police and Kamen Rider Drive wasn't a thing yet.
I'm a farmer and my first thought about seeing the rancher with ambipom, golduck and girafarig was that all those pokemon can open a gate. There's a pretty prevalent joke among farmers about your wife/partner being your gate opener
I really enjoyed this video, as it covered a topic that had confused me for years why were all the nps. We’re using seemingly a trend or similar Pokémon to their themes!
I completely forgot that Sabrina had a cameo in B2/W2 as an actress class. As well as Brycen having a KAMEN Rider inspired class. Gen V definitely hit different.
To this day I'm pissed that Charles is called "Motorcyclist Charles" and not "Heartbreaker Charles" in battle. Justice for my man Heartbreaker Charles!
Anyone who hasn't played Pokestar Studios is missing out. It's super weird and hilarious, and there's this one series called "Everlasting Memories" that's legitimately heartwarming and heartbreaking. I actually cried both times I made those movies.
My logical brain will probably never accept that pokestar studios is a thing that happened...and that so many of the movies involved tall, scary women. Gamefreak: we give your kids new fetishes!
I haven't played any of the Pokemon games myself, I usually watch your and other PokeTubers videos for the lore and the cultural inspirations. Now that you got me a better idea of what Poke Star Studios is, I feel like Game Freak made a decent attempt at linking this side story to Team Plasma's goal of Pokemon liberation.
