After three failed attempts on this galaxy, I was able to finally capture it using my Sky Watcher EvoStar 72 ED. Galaxy season has been rough on me, so I am happy to finally have an image of the Pinwheel Galaxy.

Very nice! I have the same mount but am using my stock DSLR with no filters (I don't have any). I'm just getting started and had my first successful session last weekend. I'm going to make a video about it very soon. I just couldn't grab any detail in processing. Again, it's my first one so I guess the editing will eventually come around.

Nice work Bruce it's not easy getting these with that focal length , I have similar issue with my 80mm. I got the Southern Pinwheel couple of weeks back.

What a great shot. I use the exact same setup and my guiding graph looks like the Rocky Mountains! I can’t get my total RMS under 5arc seconds. Can’t wait to see what you do next, clear skies 🌌

Terrific image. Thanks for sharing. One small point - please if possible leave your finished images up on screen for 20 secs or so, to allow us to digest your great work. 🙂 thanks

I always hit the pause button at the end of everyone's astrophotography videos so I can check out their final products.

Bruce, Love your channel and looking forward to learning more about this hobby!! I just purchased (ordered yesterday) the Skywatcher evostar 73mm and ran across the Celestron 6E this morning. I'm a complete noob with telescopes and maybe this is comparing apples and oranges... (I understand there will be a lot more money invest to get the skywatcher to track like the Celestron does) but if comparing just the telescopes, will the skywatcher give me better photos? I'm using a Lumix G5 as of right now.

I have only used the skywatcher, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have been very happy with the results I am getting out of the EvoStar telescope though.

I am pretty sure you can get better results with better processing

Beautiful! I have failed to get 101. Can you see the galaxy in your scope? I am using a 130 and can not see the galaxy. I don’t know if i am at the wrong spot or if it is not visible. Can you see the galaxy?

Not through the telescope. I can see the galaxy after about a 45 second exposure.

@@brucetracyphotography9879 ah, that explains why i cant see it through the eye piece or in my 1/2 sec subs. Big revelation, thank you. Beautiful pic. Warren
