There is a six figure French set made by CTS. I've always been amazed at how the French and Italians have been ignored so much in the 1/32nd scale. There are some great French and Italian sets in 1/72nd scale. Maybe your show will help spur some production of those troops.
@ThePlasticGeneral
@ThePlasticGeneral 3 года назад
WHAT?! No Way!! OK, FRENCH YES. MARX - 6 poses, HING-FAT - 12 Poses.
@ThePlasticGeneral
@ThePlasticGeneral 3 года назад
ITALIANS - Airfix - 7 poses, CTS - 6 poses, Waterloo 6 + 8 + 8 poses, 21st Cent Toys - 7 poses, Hing-Fat - 12 Poses!!! The Italians have been decently covered. Not mentioning any Atlantic Italians because all their Italian sets are substandard.

@jamesmaddox8261 3 года назад
@@ThePlasticGeneral Waterloo 1815 has eleven sets of Italians in 1/72 scale, one of which is a re issue of the Airfix set. They must want to concentrate on the smaller scale. They have infantry, cavalry, artillery and the three sets that are in 1/32 scale only with more poses. They also have the 90mm gun. Maybe in the future they will release more 1/32 sets.
@ThePlasticGeneral
@ThePlasticGeneral 3 года назад
@@jamesmaddox8261 Ya, I think due to bad marketing that Waterloo has dropped out of 1:32, but their 90mm artillery set inspired me to buy a 1/35 kit of that big gun.

Another great video, Christian! You can also use AIP WW1 French infantry in a pinch. Maybe a tiny bit larger than the Marx, but the greatcoat uniforms match well with the Hing Fat Frenchmen. VERY envious of your Airfix Panzer IV. I regret not taking advantage of the reissue in the late 1990s!

Sorry, I got side tracked. The very first set of these Airfix 54mm soft plastic figures, , was a set of 'modern' (1960's) British paratroopers from the "Suez Crisis" (not WWII paratroopers that most people assume they are) The next two sets were the WWII Germans and WWII Commandos, but they weren't released till 1971 (if my memory serves me). Much later, perhaps their last sets were Modern British and Modern German Incidentally, soft plastic is "polythene' (not polystyrene, polystyrene is the hard plastic that bonds with polystyrene cement) figures

First. I just found your channel and I love it! Thanks for doing what you do. I just had one comment. When you were describing the figures by Hing Fat, you described them as using Sub machine guns, and talked about trimming the figures to make them more accurate. The thing is that those figures with the larger automatic weapons are NOT carrying sub machine guns. They are carrying light machine guns... the Chatellerault Model 1929 (modele 1924/29), as opposed to the MAS 1938 sub machine gun seen on the Marx figure.
@ThePlasticGeneral
@ThePlasticGeneral 3 года назад
Correct! But they were oversized so they Must be trimmed down!

The French tanks were good but used not in tank groups like the Germans used their tanks but in penny packets primarily for infantry support.I always wondered why the Germans in the 1940 peace treaty with France did not insist the French hand over all their tanks.

Have you looked at Armies in Plastic French WW1 figures? They can pass for early WW2 French Army. I wished they offered better WW2 French figures. I thought about converting the Conte or Britains Deetail French Foreign Legion figures with Marx or AiP French heads and weapons. Another area where I have had difficulty finding WW2 figures are with the Dutch helmet. I been wanting to use them for Romanian WW2 soldiers for the Eastern Front or Dutch soldiers for early Western front. The closest I could find were some of the Engineer Basevich early Soviet troop sets wearing the wide brim helmets. But conversions would be very costly. Christian have you come across any WW2 Romanian or Dutch figures in 1/32 or 54/60mm?

I'm hoping that someone eventually does the Romanians. If not, I'll eventually address the issue by affixing 3D printed Romanian Helmets to Italian Bodies!
