I purchased and returned the plunge. I was highly disappointed with this product. After only eight weeks of owning it, it was down for a total of 6 weeks out of commission. After I called support and asked for a refund they charged me $2200 (freight and a restocking fee) to return it. Mine didn't even work for a full two weeks either. I wanted to love this product but was highly disappointed. Note my electric bill went up $100 a month when the tub was in my home.
Thanks for the video. I’m debating on if I need the XL model. I’m 5’11” and I like to get my entire body under the water. I would hate to get the standard and not fit. Should I go with the XL?
Wondering if there is a quieter inline pump I can swap out? Mines inside our gym office and its loud… like broken 60s fridge loud. I don’t mind the sound of the jets and water but the pump is just vibrating like crazy.
Bro, I have been following you on youtube for a while…I was waiting for this day. Love it bro. Now, Im patiently waiting for redwood sauna. By the way…which sauna did you purchase?
Thanks for reviewing this David. I got the standard plunge about 2 years ago and didn’t have such a great experience with the unit. The support was the main issue and it was like using a beta device. The unit came with the pump controller at the lowest setting and there was no instructions on how to verify the pump controller when setting up. As you can imagine , the ozone and filter couldn’t keep the water clean with the pump turned at the lowest setting so I had algae growth that took months to diagnose and remedy. Good news is they fixed almost of my issues under the 1 year warranty and they’ve updated the unit by improving the white component cover which had a bad magnet design and outer film which pealed after less than one year outside, removing the UV light which leaks after a while and generates a lot of heat , and upgraded the light in the tub which died. And they’ve created all these videos to help with installation and maintenance which didn’t exist. I can now say I am fully enjoying my plunge experience and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as I can now see they’ve refined the hardware and improved the support.
I own a standard plunge as well which is about two years old and I'm definitely not a fan of it after all the sh#t that's gone wrong with it. Does look like they've update some components on it but after spending the money I did spend on it I'd be hesitate to spend money for another one for that price. I now have a Ice barrel which I plumber properly for UV / Oxone and a chiller. Its been working well and didn't cost me another $4k
Awesome review! I’m curious how this would do in an uninsulated garage during a New England winter? Are there mechanisms that would prevent it from completely freezing over? Also I stumbled on a brand called SwingSesh which is an outdoor home gym/ jungle gym for the whole family. I bet it would be great for your workouts and kids, and I bet if you reached out to them they would hook you up.
The pipes are all wrapped in insulation and are pvc so I think (not sure) they would be fine. But the website may have more info on that. That sounds awesome! I’ll have to check that out. 🤙🏽
I’m from New England. And I hear you. My shower is coldest during the winter I got a Neurcover bc I want to get the benefits of cold immersion even during those summer months when the cold tap water is warmer than usual
This is a great review! We are considering purchasing the Pro XL. We will put it in our basement so the noise concerns me. Is it constant or only when it's chilling the water? Also, is there an app to use to set the temp for specific times? For example...if I know I want to plunge at 6:00 AM every morning, can I sent it so that it's chilled to the temp I want by that time? Lastly, with the chiller what are the total dimensions of the tub?
Great option and great question! It makes a good amount of noise when its chilling, so you can do what my wife does (she unplugs it when shes in the gym working out, thats where we have ours) or get the all in, it is super quiet! Have you seen that side by side comparison yet? Just posted a few days ago.
Thank you!! That is my DIY infrared sauna! A cheap Infrared sauna that I installed a patio heater in and it gets over 200! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a_dV-RbE3GI.html Here is the video and info on it
Can anyone describe how loud the pump is with the chiller off? We received our plunge a couple of weeks ago and when I first started it up, there was a loud cracking sound and then the pump was really loud, so loud you couldn't hear the chiller when it was on. I took everything apart and found some pipe glue that had run into the inlet and on the impeller so when it first started up it wrecked it. Plunge quickly sent out a new pump and I re-attached everything, plugged it in, and....more whirrrrrrrrrrrrring from the pump, definitely not as loud as before, but still there. Not sure if this is normal, I guess I was expecting maybe a quiet purr from the motor or maybe just bubbling sounds from the water with the occasional chiller fan running. But now the only time you don't hear the pump whirring is when the chiller kicks on and even then you can still make out the pump. Our hot tub makes less noise when simply circulating the water.
Yes the inline pumps do make more noise and it does sound like.a constant hum/whirl. Mine is in the garage so its not too bad but every plunge i have makes some kind of noise.
HI, could you do a comparison between Cold Monkey and the Plunge? Just talking thru it, the variations (different motors), heat option etc., would be very helpful. Thank You!
Any advice for using an extension cord. I have the standard and want to place it in a new location but I'm finding conflicting information on if the extension needs to be a 12 gauge 20 amp or 15 amp.
Great question, that depends on budget. The Plunge is the cream of the crop tbh, but its a large investment. and that is why i love the Ice Barrels and always will.
I was just searching all over RU-vid to see if anybody posted what the chiller actually sounds like and you were the only one who did. Thank you so much for being real with us! We just purchased ours and had it delivered about a week and a half ago and love it so far! The only issue is that I think our chiller is making some weird sounds and yours definitely sounded normal compared to ours lol
Both are great and both are soooo different. You have to lower yourself into the lay down tubs slowly. I really like actively squatting into teh barrels but it all depends on your style.
great review! do you know how long it takes for the temp to get to 104 from lets say 44 when you opt for the heater/chiller model? Also, I'm 5'9", wife is 5'3" would we be able to plunge together with the standard size model? Thanks!
For sure! It took 6 hours on a 100 degree day to go from high 80s to low 40s. So depending on the climate you’re in and where you have your plunge, it could be faster. I think you can definitely fit together
@@DavidMausJr Probably most of these Co's send you these units for a review. You could do a raffle sort of type of giveaway for the less fortunate end for people who have medical ailments but cannot afford one of these.
Nice high end unit. When I get my dream property with backyard for a 8x12 cabin sauna and a cold plunge I will invest in one of these to compliment my outdoor wellness setup similar to how Orvis hot springs is in Colorado. I would have it on a separate concrete pad with open air covering to limit the elements affecting it. My friend who has a health retreat has a regular Plunge model and I find it to be a tad too small. I am 5'10" and my knees come out of the water. So I would go XL for sure and living in a climate that gets 10 degrees below I would get the hot cold model. Another thing I found odd with the plunge was the sloped ends make water splashing a regular thing when getting in and out, even being very careful. Overall these are worth the money and get the extended warranty!
That sounds like an absolute dream and I pray it comes to fruition! Yes the XL would be the route to go for sure! I noticed the water slosh as well, no biggie for me but if it was on a floor that cannot get wet, may be a problem (but there is always a solution). Thanks for the comment and support!
Until then you could come over to my house=Morozko Filtered Forge-Best ice bath on the market--grounding effect. Marquis Signature Series hot tub. Jacuzzi infrared sauna.
Hey man, love the content. I just ordered an ice barrel with your code. I’m going to do the conversion. I read through a bunch on the comments section, but couldn’t find the answer. I’m debating between the active aqua 1 HP and the ecoplus 1.5 HP. Is the ecoplus better, or should I just stick with the active aqua. I live in Southern California and it will be kept outside. Thanks in advance.
