From Virginia, USA, I like Checkered Bonnet Bay also. I so enjoy watching your videos. Maybe you'll get a chance to come and shell on the East Coast one day. It's so amazing how different a shell can look like from different countries. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us and thank Imogen too. LOL 🦋

That pink ovula ovum is my favourite of all the shells that you found today. My second favourite is the captain cone. Did you stop collecting red coral pieces? I would love to see the jar that you filled with them.

Cool as. What's up with the Fisheries stalking you all day? My anxiety was high watching you watching them watching you 😂. Awkward. They should have told you why they were there so you could carry on without wondering . Anyway cool scores. Those micropiles where you pull up random handfuls remind me of lucky dips where you win a prize but you don't know what it is. And yup, checkered bonnet bay works for me. I thought of The Squirts Bay cos the sponges squirt water and also because it sounded funny 🤣 💩. See ya on your next post.

I am in WA, no problem with fisheries here. Not sure about your state, but we can take 10kgs of shells off the beach each day.... It may be because your getting them out of the water that they were suss. Maybe they thought you would take live animals.

I appreciate that they're doing an important job to protect the wildlife, although they totally picked the wrong person to check on. Hopefully they checked out your channel. I'm in Wellington - New Zealand: we lived above the Marine Reserve and saw the fisheries people all the time giving advice to tourists or people who are unfamiliar with our regulations and monitoring naughty people.

In SC/USA there are some barrier islands run by the DNR and its posted. You cant take anything from those beaches. Almost $500 fine but we have never been approached. That's crazy! Loved that pink ovula ovum! I don't know about any fisheries agents in the US, but a guy I watch who hunts for sea glass told us that it was illegal in Aruba and Bonaire (Carribean islands) to keep coral or shells! Weird, huh? What could you possibly have been doing that they thought was wrong? That's creepy, to be watched all day by two agents! Hugs from Virginia USA!

He said " the fisheries had stopped him & asked what he was doing & then he showed 2 guys further down near the water away from him. This was when he went on the sandy part of the beach micro shelling. Then he mentioned several times that they were still there watching him. Apparently the fisheries are the fish & wildlife authorities that make sure you have a fishing license & aren't doing anything illegal like taking more fish then your quotas or too small fish or live shells from the beach ect.

I think Australia has got to be the best place for micro shelling! So many colorfull tinies❣ As for the coppers, with the regime in place, they dont need a reason to spy/watch/follow someone. No idea where your located, but just as an example of a heads up about shells & Fisheries Dept Inspectors watching you. If you were here in West Aussie, Fisheries Dept WA have a relatively new law, where it is still perfectly legal to collect non live shells from the beach, however, because they license commercial shell collectors, it’s now totally illegal to sell recreationally collected sea shells. I noticed for eg that you said you were “going to keep that one for you guys” of words to that effect. Perhaps that refers to a future intention to give away for free a shell or shells to one of your subscribers for eg - which is perfectly innocent. The problem for you would be for eg - if the person you gave away a shell or shells to that you collected recreationally, was later proven to be say a Patreon supporter of yours, who’s given you money at some point in the past, you potentially COULD be in serious trouble, if Fisheries could prove that, by for example interviewing the winner and taking a witness statement to the effect that yes they received a shell /s from you and yes they have given you money as a Patreon supporter. In effect shells have changed hands and also money has changed hands between the two people. Ergo that could be presented in court as a recreational shell collector using social media (RU-vid), and Patreon to try and thwart the Commercial Shell Collectors licensing act and its requirements to pay the hefty commercial license fee payable to Fisheries Dept, be a commercial skipper if diving from a boat was involved in collecting the shells and you’d need said boat to be in commercial survey as well and you’d need public liability insurance specifically indemnifying the Minister for Fisheries etc ie all the costs and regulations of the Commercial shell collectors licensing act. Details of those new laws in this article. www.abc.net.au/radio/kimberley/programs/breakfast/sell-shells/11524356 And likely you won’t be the only one who various Fisheries and AMSA are likely targeting either. There’s recently a proliferation of social media influencers with RU-vid channels, doing for example old yacht restorations with Patreon supporters from their RU-vid channel contributing donations regularly towards the cost of materials and equipments towards the yacht restoration. Once the vessel is completed they sail away and start inviting their best Patreon supporters to come and spend a week aboard their newly restored yacht. But unbeknownst to them, similar situation applies where under the regulated charter industry, where money has changed hands and a boat trip then ensues, this is the very legal definition of “an illegal charter” under the Act. The vessel isn’t in ocean going commercial survey, the skipper isn’t commercially qualified, he doesn’t hold a charter license etc etc. Only recently the “Cruising Kiwis” were boarded in WA waters by Fisheries Inspector and DPAW Wildlife Officer and questioned after receiving a Miranda warning, because commercial whale shark tour operators observed and reported their cat vessel with a large group of invited guests out watching and swimming / interacting with the whale sharks off Ningaloo reef at Exmouth. If even ONE of those invited “non paying guests” could have been shown to have been one of their Patreon supporters where there’s a transaction record of money changing hands, then they could have been charged with running illegal charters again on an unsurveyed boat with no license and no skippers ticket etc. Back to your shell collecting, if you were ever convicted of selling recreationally collected shells - I believe the Max fine is up to $10,000 &/or 12 months in jail. So it’s as well to be 100% fully informed about the technicalities involved once RU-vid and Patreon becomes involved. In fact it’s possible depending on what you publish in your video that copies could be downloaded and presented in court as evidence against you - were you for eg to say something seemingly innocent like “there’s are the give away shells I’m just posting away to my Patreon supporter Fred Bloggs who won the free giveaway shells competition by correctly identifying the shell I nominated in last weeks video” The mention of sending shells to someone who paid you $ via Patreon could get you convicted, using your own video as the evidence against you. If you name the person then the Fisheries guys would know who to go and interview to get a witness statement and gather the records by subpoena of the $ he paid to you through Patreon, and a statement that he or she received a parcel in the mail from you containing recreationally collected sea shells. I’m just giving you a possible heads up if why you’re being watched. It’s possible those Fisheries dudes have had a licensed shell collector who’s watched your videos make a complaint about you “selling shells and disguising payment as unrelated Patreon support” IF they feel aggrieved that you are collecting shells that they could legally have collected to sell. I’m just giving you the heads up as yo what might be behind their behaviour - since I’m retired from doing essentially the same job as them. All these people with RU-vid channels who think the laws don’t apply to them while filming are in for a rude shock because regulatory authorities are watching with keen interest the proliferation of unlicensed businesses springing up on RU-vid now. I see it every day, prospectors out using metal detectors to look for gold, they have an international audience who might be interested in our native wildlife, so they film their interactions with for example say a “thorny devil” let’s say, which is perfectly legal. But there’s always that one wanna be Harry Butler type who then proceeds to pick the thorny devil up to film it in closeup on their hand. Oops, “taking protected wildlife” (to have in one’s possession” - that will be a $10,000 Wildlife Act offence fine, thank you very much. The fact you let it go after the filming is immaterial, if you touched it your guilty. So there’s some very big wake up calls coming to some of these Alby Mangles types of RU-vid Adventurers the moment they cross that legal line, even tho it might never have occurred to them that technically they are breaking the law. 2 Fisheries Officers don’t expend the $ to watch you picking up shells without a reason, & most likely someone has reported you and your now a person of interest and under observation. If someone has reported you, and those guys DONT investigate to either prove or disprove the claims made and the media got hold of it, they could lose their jobs for NOT investigating if that makes sense, so you should take heed of the clue that you have unwittingly become “a person of interest” to them for whatever reason and by whatever means. Old saying “where there’s smoke there’s fire”, so you weren’t being observed just by pure coincidence. 😉👍
