But even today, Poland calls itself Rzeczpospolita Polska, which is actually the official Polish name of the state! Lithuania doesn't call itself that way. Because in reality, Poland was the Rzeczpospolita in earlier times and is that still today! Not Polish Lithuanian Rzeczpospolita but the Polska Rzeczpospolita! Would anyone call Poland today Commonwealth because Poland today is Rzeczpospolita? Of course not, because it is wrong today as it was wrong in the past to call this Polish state Commonwealth! Today Rzeczpospolita Polska is also correctly translated in English as the Republic of Poland and not wrong Commonwealth Poland! Why is that then wrongly translated with Commonwealth for the earlier times. Actually absurd! Incidentally, the first documented with the use of the term Rzeczpospolit as a designation of the Polish state can be found in Maćka Borkowica's act of allegiance, for the Polish king Kazimierz the Great on 16.
