As a Hongkonger, the UK helped a lot in the social, political and economic development. Hong Kong was a small village which only had about 1000 people. However, after the rules of the British, here has become an international financial centre. In these 155 years, the UK had completely changed the life in Hong Kong. Although in 1997, the colonisation was ended, we will never forget about the contribution by the UK. 🇬🇧🤝🇭🇰

The most amazing part, is in ~1750, the UK was estimated to have a population of around 6M, while France for example had 24M. Despite having such a tiny population compared to France and the rest of the countries, it managed to establish itself as a powerhouse, mainly in my opinion due to technology and strategy

It's important to realise that "England" never owned parts of France. These were personal holdings of the King of England, not England itself. They had their own commitments to the King. It may have been a personal union of sorts, yet given how much power nobles had over their King in these times, the French nobility in these areas saw themselves still as French, but simply with a King who also owned some land in England. He was the King of France to them, there just so happened to be another, fake French King also.
