I think this kinda thing would only really be useful for when you have friends over. You'd show them it and they'd be like oh cool, you'd both say pop a few times and catch some popcorn and then you'd try tricking it by saying words that rhyme with pop and then you'd get bored and walk off and do something else.

It sends it right to the sound. Seems accurate to me. I have never caught popcorn in my mouth (I always fail) but I think I could with this.

you build it yourself: get to know arduino, or microcontroler based circuits, first learn C then C+, then get to know assembly language, then buy a 3-d printer to make the parts you'll need. The binaural processes language you'll have to find yourself (thats what I am learning about next) but basically, you need an input program to determine direction, to plot of the trajectory needed, use stepper motors to control aim, and IDK about the launch mechanism. Rubberbands and another stepper motor?

Popcorns come in different shapes and sizes, but the only thing that matters is how you use it.

I think you mean, awesomeness level: America. That takes skill.

It's not like you can do it while typing or playing games because you have to stop typing or playing the game in order to concentrate on catching the piece of popcorn flying towards you and you could have picked up and eaten several pieces of popcorn in one handful in the same time it takes to get one to fly out. It's a neat idea but I don't think it'll be worth the amount its gonna cost and the hype thats being made for it.

So how does it work? Does it use a jet of air or a spring or something?

I need to have one of these. Also, can it be altered to be triggered by, say, a dog's bark? I want to train my dogs to use it as they are crazy for popcorn. Can't you see it now and the additional marketability of the product? By the way, I have Great Danes and think they would be willing to test any models as well. :)

You though of building a popcorn shooting machine but only thought about 1 popcorn at a time? What about 3 burst? Semi-auto? 5 burst? 10 burst? You should implement that option. Like POP 10 (for 10) Simple, easy and would make the machine worth buying
