@@chilio94 no sorry. We are just focussed on the series S due to its portability. Also the extra power of the series x would be wasted on a small screen.
These types of screens are great for Military Personnel in Barracks etc. or College Students in Dorm Rooms etc. I would of prefered a 3.5mm headphone jack also on the screen regardless of usb audio from the controller or usb port And also i would of also enjoyed having a HDMI in so if you so chose too could also plug in your PS4 to have a duel set-up option (if you so chose too)
Hi! The Xbox controller has a 3.5mm jack into it so for Xbox use it is not necessary to have one on the screen and would have just added to cost. Even though we didn’t design the xScreen to work with anything else it will if you just get female to make hdmi and usb cables and plug them into your Ps5 and to the plugs coming out the front of the xScreen. 👍
Most hardcore players will be playing on a monitor or tv screen. This is aimed more for situations like taking it camping, or for kids in a car, maybe a college dorm bedroom etc. The casual player, not the hardcore. The hardcore player will want a larger screen to see more details clearer, and better audio quality for sound queues in games.
For me this is for 2 reasons. 1. Camping, I can play full console games in the wild =-) 2. Some games are just not couch coop. My wife can play the Series S on a TV table while I kick ity on the Series X, sitting side by side in the livingroom. Great review, ty
This needs to be 1080p 120Hz. $250 is expensive for such a small and basic screen compared to the price of the XSS itself. All the ports need passthrough as well but I do understand why they didn't as it does look more clean in the back. I saw this on sale for $200 which I almost got but I decided to spend a little more at $250 and get a 15.6" 1440p display @ 144Hz. It doesn't do 1440p @ 120Hz on the XSS over HDMI but I feel like it's a limitation that MS did on it so that you need HDMI 2.1 to do so. On one my PC with HDMI 2.0 it does 1440p @ 120Hz or 144Hz so I don't know what the issue is. I could however get 1080p @120Hz on my XSS with my monitor. I hope they do an xScreen 2 with better specs. Then I will buy it for sure. I just feel like the current one is just barely ok to use with the XSS. I do like how clean it looks vs the other XSS screens out there tho.
The GameCube screen attachment was the lifeblood of my childhood. I’m not really sure if TVs then were just too expensive at the time or what, but they got the GameCube screen instead so I could play while they used the tv. Times were different. Now though this is physically useful for me. I travel a lot for work and like my video games in the downtime. I’m more of a pc elitist but I can’t justify buying a high end laptop for travel and having my home pc. My solution was the series s and an asus 144hz portable monitor. I travel for work so I’m usually gone for 3 months out of the year. Unfortunately I’m usually never at the same place for more than a couple day. Otherwise I’d just take my pc.
Imagine if Microsoft release the next Series S as a Mobile Device in the future kind of like a fusion between a Switch and a Steamdeck? That would be an absolute game changer.
I'm able to get a black version with a Xbox series s 1TB for 350. Pretty solid deal for a console I'll use as secondary to play retro Xbox 360 games mainly
@@mantid83 I’m not playing Elden Ring for my Series X either, because I absolutely suck at those games, just awful. I bought Demon Souls for the PS5. I died 100 times, smashed the controller into 1,000 pieces, my daughter cried, my wife was bullshit. That was the end of that.
@@themailman3331 yeah, I love my switch too as well. I love all consoles, I think this generation they have retained something unique about themselves which is nice and unexpected.
I know people say dont buy Gaming laptops but I travel all the time and some hotels do not have the best TVs. Wouldnt I be better off with a gaming laptop considering the price for the series s, screen and the expansion SSD?
I had one for the GameCube, it was awesome. My buddy and I when we were in our late teens, 17, 18, etc. We use to go on blunt rides then go park somewhere and play Madden NFL 03 and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.
I'm real interested in picking one of these up. Right now I have the GAEMS portable case. I'm looking for something more compact. I wish this had a 3.5mm jack to plug in a bluetooth dongle to use airpods.
@@UPspecGaming I’ve tried. The Bluetooth dongle for some reason doesn’t work when plugged into the controller. Plus it’s not ideal to have it dangling from controller. The dongle will work better if it was in fixed position and could plug into the screen itself somewhere and just sit ontop of the Xbox or to the side of it.
@@UPspecGaming I received my xScreen and case today. I must say, this things is awesome! It’s much more compact than my last GAEMS system. Right now I am plugging in earbuds to the controller. Just saying a 3.5mm jack on the xScreen system would’ve been cool to plug a blue tooth dongle into it to past to some earbuds. I’m still real happy with my xScreen.
This can actually work for me when I go to my parents house to play games with my brothers. I don’t have to bring my halo edition series X out the house.
New buyer in 2023. Has anyone else's order been canceled right after purchase? I received an "order canceled" email seconds after order confirmation. No response from upspec yet. It seems they are currently away for holidays still.
The whole Nintendo review community that shows clips of them playing consoles outside, in the least casual places is so stupid looking.. like come one. Nobody will walk down the street with a laptop on their chest or play switch on a bright ass day while sitting on the edge of a fountain
If does have service in Canada or if I’m able to order online, I plan to order it becuz how small and simple it is, though it will be a long time for me to get this, cool little system.
Hey Kevin I saw you yesterday at Socal Gaming Expo! Sadly we didnt get the chance to meet because they were closing the expo at the time, but it was cool to see you there! Hope you had a good time there.
When wanting to close the screen should we just power it down then close it? I ask bc even tho it shuts down automatically when you close it, heat is still there. Should we be cautious of that?
Tell that to the people in 2001 lol I had the PSone attachable screen from back then. This is just imitating a 20 year old design. It's not taking anything anywhere it hasn't been decades ago already.
No it would make no sense because the xbox is way different than the steam deck comparing it to the switch makes more sense than comparing it to the xbox
Blocking of the ethernet port definitely is a bummer. If available, the port could allow faster downloads, less laggy gameplay and a more reliable LAN party mode. While this product has a cleaner, more unified power system for the rear, the competing XBox Series S screen, does not block all the ports, has audio out, and the additional function of HDMI in which allows other devices to use the screen.
kevin: “1080p is going to look better at this screen size rather than, say, a 50” TV” me: looks to the left at my 50” 1080p plasma from 2008 that still looks amazing
It's always funny to me when people complain about games being so expensive today. These new PS2 or Xbox games are equivalent to $78 today, older cartridge games are easily over $100 equivalent today and gave you so much less gameplay time
