There is a place on earth that feels exactly like being on Mars!,It’s a red desert in the south of Jordan called Wadi Rum.In fact, it’s so similar to Mars that many movies related to mars were filmed there, including “The Martian”.
But the coolest part is that there are people who live there!As soon as I arrive to Wadi Rum I was approached by a 19-year-old Bedouin, he offered to take me in his four-wheel drive deep into the desert, and soon we became good friends
Maybe because of my prejudice of how life “should be” my first thought was “How can anyone live here?” it’s so hot, so remote, so difficult!
But Bashar’s optimism was so contagious that it truly changed my perspective. Living in this red desert, he is able to realize how privileged he is for being born in such a unique place, and instead of thinking to go away in search for opportunities, he is creating his own opportunities, using his expertise in desert life and Beduin culture to his favor.
I was so inspired that I decided to make this video, because I know many people out there (including myself) feel they need to go away to find opportunities, but in reality, life itself is an opportunity, it’s only a matter of perspective and attitude!.
