Garden Hose Reels and that's it. I wouldn't accept and even trade of my $35 reels for the much more expensive auto reels and that's a fact as I had them and sold them cheap;0)

The amount of time required for set up, adjustment, testing, recording, editing is enormous. These videos are very helpful to me, and provide insights, and information sources not otherwise available. Just learning about Paul Aker's LEAN concepts was worth every minute spent. As another observer noted, providing these videos IS a business. Affiliate arrangements are warp and woof of these channels.

After about five years of prodding I've finally got my boss to get us a trailer and we are now outfitting it now. Your videos and plans are a great help.

Ron, thanks for what you do. Ignore those who whine about the "commercial aspect" of your videos. I don't have a sense that you're in this for the money and I appreciate the time you spend to put out high quality videos.

and even if he did, he's a businessman, and he's promoting his business, protecting his lifestyle as he gets older and health could be an issue, sharing his lifelong achievements & his workmanship, skills and everything he learned in a career of costly trials and errors, mistakes, and successes. and we get to benefit from all those years for like.. 15$? people that are jealous and unhappy with where they are in life will always complain about something, they are never satisfied and this is just another outlet. people are imitating Ron's builds for a reason. you can find dozens of videos of people sharing their similar trailer and truck builds, you can see his bench style in so many woodworkers' videos, and who knows how many guys like me who don't make videos of my trailer and garage. thanks Ron!

a used car rim is what i use for reel. a couple fittings and a swivel connection (o a quick conn works too) for air let`s you be plugged all the time (i don`t). power cord i make my own too for safety reasons. the toolbox is coming along nicer and nicer. thanks for sharing. pete

For a 100' cord, you definitely want a #10 conductor to achieve a 3% or less voltage drop. So for a 115v @ 15 amp rating, you're looking at a 3.148 voltage drop (2.745%) over 100'. This is especially important for compressors to properly kick on. For a 50' run, a #12 conductor is sufficient with a 2.604 voltage drop (2.27%). I carry both cords since every jobsite is different and always try to minimize the run to avoid the dreaded tripped breaker.

Another Great Video, Ron. Do you have a link to that roller-based guide for feeding the air hose and power hose through the floor?
@terencecampbell8363
@terencecampbell8363 3 года назад
Kills me that your air hose has to be connected to the compressor with every use. I run the same reel with 400' of 1/4" hose (runs nailers no problem). With only a few fittings you can route your hose to the center of the reel. I used a basic quick conect as the swivel inside the reel. I can keep my air connected and operational and pull out more hose as needed. My first set up lasted 8 years in multiple vans.

It could be a good habit to not leave the power cord coiled up when in use/connected. It's ok if mostly charging batteries and for lighting though.

Ron, great videos and innovation! What size Flexzilla air hose is installed on the reel, 1/2 or 3/8?

How do you power your overhead lights? Do they run off of the 10/3 Extension cord on the reel? or is that a separate set up? How do you run power to the other electricals in the SMART workshop? (ie battery chargers, etc.)
@david3810
@david3810 7 лет назад
Intresting, thanks. Maybe add a note that the power cord should be fully extended before using hence you are not using a termo fuse in the setup. A cord coile might get HOT when used.
@retakrew
@retakrew 7 лет назад
with his setup the cord insulation could actually be enough to prevent this issue, but it is something to keep in mind when copying this setup
@RustyCas999
@RustyCas999 7 лет назад
David Näslund Will a 10-3 cord get hot when carrying a 15 amp load. As Ron works alone (I think), I doubt he uses more than 2 tools at once (router and a vacuum maybe).
@floored3145
@floored3145 7 лет назад
The extention cord is just powering the stuff inside the trailer.Like the lights , chargers and compressor occasionally.
@RustyCas999

jc86 Thanks. I was thinking backwards. Even more reason not to worry about the coiled cord on the reel.
@david3810
@david3810 7 лет назад
Yes, hi has been doing this for years and it works for him. No worries. But... If he is doing this movies to inspire and even encourage people to buy the same things. A note or a warning to people would not be wrong, not all will use it the same way. The termo fuse is there for a reson.

The Flexzilla power cord on the store was for the 12/3 gauge. When I clicked on it, there was an option for a 50ft 10/3 but not the 100ft 10/3. Is this just because its sold out due to the price?
@TheSmartWoodshop
@TheSmartWoodshop 7 лет назад
Thanks, for letting me know. I will have Chris change the link. It seems the 100' is currently unavailable so Chris is putting the 50' in which has the 100' option but is currently grayed out.

Ron Paulk: Thanks for all of the awesome videos! Unfortunately my fiancé is not as intrigued but we are working on it! I'm waiting for my custom ordered 7x12 v-nose to arrive. In the meantime I am stockpiling gear to "Paulk-out" the new rig. Hi Ron, do you drain your air tank every day, or have some other way to get the water out of your tank?
@TheSmartWoodshop
@TheSmartWoodshop 7 лет назад
I have a small hose running from the tank drain through the floor so all I have to do is open the valve and it drains outside. That being said, I only remember to do it about twice a year;0)

So you have the power to your trailer and I know yoy typically setup in a garage when you are on a job, but let's say you have to setup outside, you have your trailer plugged in. Do you have a way you power your tools from the trailer?
@TheSmartWoodshop
@TheSmartWoodshop 7 лет назад
Yes, there are plugs in the trailer that are hot when the 10/3 is plugged in. I have thought about putting an external plug on the trailer, but so far haven't done so.

As it relate to the hole in the floor for cords, it seems that you might have an issue with rodents climbing up the cords and making a home in your trailer. I've found a wad of steel wool will prevent that.
@TheSmartWoodshop
@TheSmartWoodshop 7 лет назад
I haven't had a rodent problem, but steel wool does work as I have used it on houses with good results.

Please put item # in your video title and date. Ytube mixes video . There system does not seem to auto catalog like voicemail does. No one rembers a topic or title. When you sell an item repeat it twice and print price.
