Thanks for watching! How can you use non-verbal communication in your daily life?
@nicholla6150
@nicholla6150 2 года назад
I have always felt that words only seem to defy the truth of a situation. Also that verbal vocation is practically unnecessary, because real truth is something unspoken and can be defined by the systematic analysis of non-verbal cues. They will combine to produce a complete profile of any situation or individual, even those who have gone to great lengths to obfuscate their true position...

My mother always told me from being very young that we all need to " set your stall out" no matter what gets thrown your way in life. This one piece of advice that she explained to me as a child has served me well, all my life. She's a wise woman who can read people extremely well. Even now at nearly 80 she's quick and a master judge of character who knows exactly when to be quiet and watch, listen and learn with a gut instinct to match. She's the reason I'm here, I can't get enough of learning more and more about human behaviour. She's always been short. And at 4ft 9 as a young woman she was overlooked, ignored and underestimated from an early age so she learned instinctively to read people. Thank you mum, your an inspiration 🥰👏

Woohoo mastery has so many levels. As a new RN, I was wise enough to know what I didn’t know. (Mostly everything) We were on a very busy Pediatric ward. I connected with the nurses I saw that were really good! I offered to do their grunt work, so they would help me with technique & new procedures. A few years in & we were getting a critical patient, I looked for the most senior, experienced nurse & it was me! I said a quick prayer & was able to do everything I needed to. All because of kind nurses who were willing to teach me. Now, my daughter is getting ready to enter nursing school. We have so many discussions. Paying it forward-always kindly teach someone what they do not know. And-be the nurse you would want if you were sick.

What great information! I wish I would have learned this much earlier in my life. The head tilt thing was especially good. This explains why babies that are always leery of strangers, immediately drawn to me. I've had many people be surprised that their small babies will always come to me after 30 seconds of baby talk, tilted head, and showing the open " come to me" and they giggle or at least reach out to me. Cool! At age 57, I broke my neck at the C-1 level and the neurosurgeon who stabilized the surgery meant to get my head facing forward again. He ended up having to fuse the vertebra that gave me a permanent head tilt. Another little GODWINK for me. So very thankful.

I've come to have tremendous respect for Mr. Navarro (not sure if he has a specific title since retired. If so, apologies for not using such). I am a single father with one teenage daughter and another daughter that is a year and a half away. Non-verbals have help me so many times as a parent during those situations when an unsure teen girl needs help, advice, or has certain... embarrassing issues that are too awkward to go to Dad about. Thanks to Mr. Navarro (and others i have learned from), I've gotten pretty good at figuring out what's going on which lets me approach the subject and remove the awkward worries they might have been having. We now joke that I secretly have super powers (cause I'm a mind reader) and I sneak out to fight crime when they go to bed.

I’ve heard the last statement elsewhere, not his quote but a good one. I agree also with him that I am not impressed by people who have material possessions or earn a lot. Character comes first, if you lack good character and disrespect those who have less than you, I won’t ever have respect for you. Interestingly enough someone in my life comes to mind, someone who picks on their spouse for earning less than them, speaks down at them, even calls ‘loser’ once in a while to get them to change a career they love but doesn’t bring much yet, and openly expressed that “it’s understood” that with more money comes respect. Well, I don’t respect this bully.

Sophomore speech class (1961), high school. I will never forget the definition of ‘speech’…. “A Visible, Audible Code Essentially Symbolic in Nature whereby we Communicate our Thoughts, Desires and Ideas…..” Sixty-one years later I still remind people of that truth. So true…. A text is no substitute for the tactile, the presence… Think of the unfortunate misunderstandings between friends because the audible and visible elements of a communication were missing.

Absolutely brilliant lecture to stumble upon ... and thanks, kind Sir, for articulating & confirming my concerns especially in last few years the complete erosion of social communication & lack physical presence, lack of all the complimentary elements in our veiled removal of words only text interaction, with voice calls going extinct .. and the level of offence even longterm friends/family members have over silly things like over analyzing hyper specifics of the messages being exchanged. ... as if now each conversation point is scrutinized by a English Comp professor marking an essay. I don’t know how society’s going to get out of this mass addiction, while mass extinctions are happening ... But I’m glad I listened to this to be somewhat comforted in not being alone wondering why we’re in such divisive times.
