I am 68 yrs old and I have been strumming strings for most of my life, I finally got myself an electric guitar and am learnig the differnt rriffs and solos of my favotite guitarists and bands. This lesson has made me more confidant that I will hit the right notes for the chords being played. You are a great tutor, keep up the good work.

W0W! Such a great lesson! It can take years to stumble across this "secret" on your own! Can't imagine learning to play guitar with the knowledge available for today young guitar slingers! It's all here for the taking on The Tube. Thank you.

Learnt so much from you with your tutorials, than i ever learnt having lessons from Len Davison who taught at Huntingdon college in the UK. Really loved the Beatles lessons while my guitar gently weeps and in my life.

Thanks, Rob! As much as I've learned about music theory and guitar...I just learned something new from you! I didn't recognize that lower extension as the G shape of A, believe it or not! (I might have eventually figured it out, since recently I figured out how to play I, IV, V in very close positions using the C, E and G shapes! But I hadn't gotten all the way there yet.) So much more is coming into focus.... Thanks again, Rob. Timely info...! 👍 👌

Nice guitar brother! Thanks for the mention of the minor pentatonic played on the upper extension in its D shape. I was able to ear out "For Those About to Rock" by ACDC just off this info. Not sure its how they played it but it sounded pretty spot on. You rock. Keep making these awesome videos please!

i teach people the modes/hand positions of the pentatonic/blues scale- learned in chunks it’s not too much for anyone actually passionate about practicing. i also show them how the pentatonic scale and its modes/hand positions live inside the “church” modes. that way a person can throw other notes in from the key and sound different compared to everyone that just learns these pentatonic tricks, which tends to b most guitar players that actually stick with it long enough to get into soloing/leads. people interested in learning to play leads and solos should just take the time to learn the modes on the neck. there’s basically 5 hand positions for the church modes and 5 for the pentatonic/blues scale and they’re basically the same. if u can see the “shapes” for the CAGE system then u can handle the modes f’sho.
