Prosecutors need to be financially accountable for every case they take on. They should have to pay for wrongful prosecutions and pay for the defendants attorney fees.

We tried to get rid of our current DA during our last special election in June. No such luck.

Excellent and informative as far as it went, but I can't use this information to vote in better prosecutors if I do not have a way to find out what the prosecutorial behavior is of prosecutors up for election.

To bring the current immigration catastrophy to light, we must address all of the US interventions in Latin America, starting with Secretary Clinton's support of the coup in Honduras and the establishing, enabling and support of all the autocratic military regimes in Guatemala, El Salvador, etc. from the previous administration, going back a century or so. If the US regime is so intent to quash any glimmers of hope and democracy to emerge in its neighborhood for the benefit of its corporate masters, then it should also be held accountable in the World Court and must bear the consequences of its inhumanity in a humane manner! And yes, curtail the corrupt prosecutors' powers.

The constitution insures the right to a FAIR trial. That's not happening. An Allegation is made (could be true or false) booked and thrown in jail.( Freedom removed) 20 days later while still in confinement a public defender appears " here's the deal, take an admittance to guilt and your sentence will be reduced. Take this thing to trial ( enter a bit guilty plea) and lose , your sentence triples. 97% take the guilty plea down offer. Which consequently fks their life up and their families. Because potential employers do back ground check 7 years and in many cases some places do life time back ground checks. The system is a f piece of shit. (And all we can say well it's better then other countries) so when the father can't get employment and needs to feed his children he can't . So the problem is huge .cops have quotas, prosecuters have quotas and so do fking car salesman.but to the effect entire families are ruined the car salesman is the better person.so when the guy can't get an income he's left to violate the public perhaps by theft. So this bullshit that the system is for public safety is total bullshit brainwash 101. The bible prior to Jesus was unforgiving.jesus suffered as a human and he called upon God to have mercy.. as the system is now a guy serves his time he gets out and the system continues to punish him and his family ( as did pre Jesus time) .how? The 7 year potential employer back ground check, the 7 year rent an apartment back ground check. The worste thing to ever happen is the privitization of incarceration facilities, Traded on nasdaq.. I am a moderate Republican (mainly abortion ) but lean heavily torwards justice reform and and issues involving homelessness and mental health . I've met some really sincere great cops. But I've encountered the ones whose only objective is climbing the ranks and have little if any interest in the effects their actions will have on others. george Gasscon Los Angeles has evolved and grown and has realized the problem .he was once an ass hole cop, he has come to realize the harm his past activations as a cop had on entire families and how it compounded the problem and didn't solve a f thing. That he could man up to his revelation is a great turn for her man rights

Actually, in America the defendant gets quite a bit of advantages and privileges. In fact, America is one of the few countries in the world where the defendant gets so many advantages in court. Just because the incarceration rate is increasing does not mean that prosecutors are in the wrong. And that’s not to say every prosecutor is perfect of course

Do prosecutos inform if i got any bail violation?

It's the prosecutors the police the judges even the attorneys are all corrupt. There were 2 different cops at 2 different times transporting someone to court and they were going 120mph the cops reply was "I can go this fast, it's the perks of being a cop"!! What? Are they invincible now?? Is that what they teach them in cop school? To do what u want cuz ur a cop! What ever happened to being an example and upholding the law?? If the cops don't do it, then why should we???????? Who sets the example anymore? NOT THE COPS, NOT THE PROSECUTORS, EVEN JUDGES AND ATTORNEYS AND THEY EXPECT US TO????? WHY? It's all for REVENUE!! Ruining everyone's life for REVENUE!! SO SAD!

How can you find out if your district attorney is up for reelection? Or that your district attorney is elected and not appointed? I'm having trouble searching this information about my region.

I am reading the book "Just Mercy" by Bryan Stevenson, Founder of the Equal Justice Initiative and I am riveted. I have come to the conclusion that the only way to solve the problem of mass incarceration in our country is to elect leaders who are willing to address the problem head on, calling it what it is, a job/wealth -creating system that preys on the poor, the minority, the mentally-ill, the addicted and the disenfranchised.

As I faced the presiding prosecutor( he'd brushed aside the designated one) I realized the enthusiasm everyone has for righteous zeal.The standby counsel had been relegated to that position for his failure to plead me out. Out of our rights and into the arms of our overlords, that is the chief function of public defenders. That they must give the appearance of protecting the rights of their "client" earns them the popular handle public pretenders. So contagious was the merriment that afternoon in our private session that I was caught up in the moment."Throw the book at him!"I wanted to shout. It made me glum that they'd thrown it out the window long ago. The assistant prosecutor never looked up over her swollen belly nor spoke after the seated prosecutor began to hold forth. Perhaps she worried for her unborn's place in this America her compliance had already birthed. Why not publish the accurate account of all proceedings? So proud of themselves and yet the felony transcripts were ruthlessly revised into forged documents, official papers that are the fake history of Orwellian nightmare made our. waking one as well. I suppose even this brief comment will likely be edited or deleted. The falsification of felony transcripts is a greater evil than the crimes against our persons and due process it is meant to conceal. The defendant loses the right to meaningful appeal having already been denied ever preceding one. The jury is duped into being a rubber-stamp. All are defrauded. No consent to be governed was ever explicitly or implicitly given. No surrender to an authority that resides in us alone is now acknowledged in those formerly entrusted with its lawful enforcement. Rule of Law and American Due Process must at long last be established. The ouster of the Bar and its abettors leaves juries in charge of all matters civil and criminal. We face a crucible so trying we will certainly wish we'd left the justice system in the possession of the treasonous , yes,treasonous American Bar Association. Steel yourself and brace others! Persist and we will secure the blessings of liberty fo ourselves and our posterity.

This narrative that prosecutors should stop prosecuting criminals for crimes is what’s leading to increased rates of violent crimes in places like NYC Chicago and LA

The DA has the burden of proof and has to convience a jury of someone's peers that a person on trial is guilty beyond doubt. So the DA does not have the power in court, the people of the jury do. Certain violations have set penalties and have mandatory incarceration times. The person with the most power is the individual. He or she has the power of choice. Choice, free will to follow the law or not.
