this is why a few years ago I started following the Bundesliga, specifically FC Köln. They got relegated last season, and although quite a few players had bundesliga clauses in their contracts, there were quite a few that stayed despite the relegation. The fans are electric, pyro, smoke, tifos from the ultras, and the normal fans also always add in. I've lost touch with the english league.

What's wrong with aspects of the game being civilized? I don't long for the days of Zidane's headbutt or the harsh fights. I remember seeing it as a child. It was awful. If that's what we call peak football, then were not much different from those who watched gladiators' fights to kill each other. All that's left is to make murder legal. And VAR is good. You wouldn't be asking for the days of Maradona's hand of god if it robbed your team in the final. And why on earth will you want to glorify a player sleeping with a teammmate's wife? Are you OK? How would you feel if it was YOUR wife? You forget that kids hear news about footballers' lives, too. The only thing about today's football is the excessive coaching. Its a one team league. City will never take there foot off the necks of every other side in that division. Arsenal will bottle it as always. Chelsea and Utd are awful and no real challenge at all and lets not pick on poor old utd. My favourite band might support that comedy show of a club but you cant tell me the EPL isn't a farmers league now. Its predictable and boring like the German or French league. At least Leverkusen made it exciting to watch last season we all know Bayern Munich will more than likely win another title.

Watching the Premier League in 2024 is like watching a game played on the PlayStation. Every goal is a Sensible Soccer cut back, every yellow card the result of a cheat code, every formation designed by years of playing Football Manager. The excitement replaced by dull, soulless players, coached to within an inch of their lives by Rafa, Pep, Jurgen, and every other greedy foreign egomaniac who sees England as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Our footballing culture has been destroyed by pandering to those with no interest in the game bar how much cash they can generate for their associated businesses. True fans season tickets taken away by over privileged families who want to one up the other posh families when they meet up at the golf club.
