For starters, I was born in 1981. With that said, the Kodamatic camera (at 35:45) and its revolutionary film both were discontinued by 1984. I still have the pics from that camera here in my collection of family photos. The pics were taken in December, 1983! The film is stunning with an all-black, slick, glossy back, and an all-white front around the image! An absolute masterpiece that camera was! Poloroid knew this, which was why they became red hot jealous and put a stop to any further manufacturing. Even to this day, I can't help but pull out those pictures and marvel at them. Btw, great episode of TPIR. I especially enjoy the '86-'89 seasons. Takes me right back to watching with grandma and mom. 💝
10/14/1983 airdate here. Famous Cats showcase was done in 1979 with Cat Stevens featured instead of the then unknown Brian Setzer and Stray Cats. Reference to It's Optional, the then recently retired game with two cars offered, just before the sixth pricing game is played. Certs had a 6 behind them in the second game($1.39), Super Glue had a 2($2.99), Cosmetics had an eight behind it(99 cents), and Boraxo had a four behind it($1.19)
I liked the music cue used for the washer and Dryer, was it used again before Bob retired and when Drew Carey took over as host. I hope the cue is still part of the music cue package on the show and didn't get retired.
Also for each of those 6 One Bid Prizes & 2 Showcases, I would have guessed the following. Luggage: $550 Microwave Oven: $430 Desk: $615 Washer & Dryer: $1,000 Wood Burning Stove: $689 Refrigerator & Freezer: $810 1st Showcase: $6,500 2nd Showcase: $12,500
