Yes, he sounded just like from what we've heard. The voice he was announcing (nasally) was from the advice of Gene Wood, who suggested to Rich he'd used it, however, when you hear him on conversations, he talked differently.
Season 14 Opening introduction. Episode (#5941) Air Date Monday January 6th, 1986. Interim Announcer Rich Jeffries tries out. He would last until 01/16/1986. Then Bob Hilton takes over Friday 01/17/86 thru 2/14/1986.
If you watch the Super Password finale, he appears at the end of the show. He's the one with the yellow jacket and brown hair. He came up on stage with the people of Super Password. He smiled and applauded. I think that was his only on camera appearance.
Someone said, during this week of The Price is Right, someone played Golden Road, Denise, and she wound up claiming the most expensive single prize up to that moment, a Porsche worth over $43,000.
@@markyyy94Just about month later, Pamela set a new record for the highest amount won including the showcase after winning $11,000 cash in the showcase showdown. Her showcase included a Jaguar. Two years later, Douglas walked the Golden Road, claimed his Corvette and won the most in a regular daytime episode (on an August 1986 primetime special, Joseph won over $61,000, but that didn't count). Then, four years later, it happened again on Golden Road when Laura claimed a Cadillac Allante convertible worth over $52,000. Two years after that, Danielle won the largest amount up to that point: almost $89,000 in prizes, including a Lincoln Continental and Corvette.
@@nextbarker2702That version of Card Sharks had just premiered and was airing in the slot before The Price is Right (displacing Press Your Luck in the process).
It’s the first episode of the next TBE batch of 1986 episodes as a matter of fact. As a reminder the channel goes by production order. 5935D and 5945D had their air dates of Jan 3 and Jan 10 switched by CBS so that the plug for Card Sharks had better timing
@@chaupin5 I read that he didn't get it because there would have been two "Bobs". I think that's a stupid reason, as Hilton was the best announcer auditioning.
