The Princess Bride-Dear God What IS That Thing

I was surprised RU-vid did not have my favorite part of the Princess Bride, so I decided to add it myself. I just love the whole "dear god what IS that thing". When I first saw the movie I couldn't stop laughing at that. I also love the Battle of Wits, and Indigo Montoya in general, really The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies!

Moral of the story: fear is the most powerful weapon. Westly learned it from Roberts, it's not what you can do: It's what they think your capable of.
@ryanashford718
@ryanashford718 2 года назад
I had a similar story with what I learned from a fellow security guard, he taught me that the best way to get someone to back down or to instill fear is to make your warning quick, but clear and full of conviction. Monologuing usually does nothing, and can often be seen as an empty threat. That's part of why the prince kept telling him he was bluffing. It was only until he got up and told him to drop his sword without even blinking that the prince sat down immediately.

I think it's pretty epic when Westley stands up, points the sword at Humperdink, and says, "Drop. Your. Sword." Basically he's saying, "I'm more awesome than you'll ever hope to be."
