Nah, he got moves if you know what you're doing, just like any other character. Executing his chopin blockstrings, his rejump (which is pretty tough), adding VBF into your combos since it hits like a truck, setting up chaiotzu oki.. He's got shit, he just still has a rep as a boring character from his season 1/2 days. Also DHCing into his super makes a DP safe on block since it recovers so fast.

@@blankname2167 I dunno man, I disagree. Popping people open with the chop and shotgunning them always feels amazing. I think the "Tien boring" is just a meme from season 2 when he was worse SSJ Goku. Now chaiotzu is viable, his beam is unique and covers a ton of space, his normals all feel amazing, and his combos got more sauce with ex VBF. I mean, he sort of trashes zbroly in anchor fights, which is a great feeling in the current meta. I may have a bias, though.

@@zxt5148 Better than Z Broly is kinda cap, in fact he's not even better than Baseku or A21. I've seen ex VBF combos. To me personally, not very impressive or anything that screams cool to me. And the Tien is boring thing is legit not really a meme. Also Dodon Ray in neutral ain't it cause its super punishable on whiff and u will get your shit rocked by a whole ass lv3

I’d say his “problem” is that he doesn’t have any projectiles outside of his blink and he doesn’t have any hidden jank and shenanigans to worry about. And that gets supplemented by his lvl up mechanic, forcing the opponent to recklessly approach and get punished by his ridiculous normals. Other than that there’s not really any weakness. Just an all around solid character, and the characters who’re better just have more exploitable shenanigans

No projectiles, lariats are dope but don’t have a lot of range, command grab is slow (26 Frames), DP good but has low range, no 2L low which combined with a slow command grab and his 6H series having gaps and being slow make his mix potential not as great as it may seen in high level play. He needs resources like assists and meter to be threatening, otherwise, it’s easy to lame him out. Positives are that his mobility can help him close in, his pressure game is up there, and his level system can be super dangerous with the right team comp. He’s a little like Vegito, but Vegito beats him out in assists, pressure, Better DHCs, stronger neutral, and way less reliance on assists to be a threat. I also think Vegito’s a bit better in the pressure department, but there’s arguments there for either being better over the other.

Dont underestimate his blink in the air and realize you have 3 heavy attacks on the ground. His 214x doesnt connect as naturally as other specials but they do fit in particular situations. Especially when he is reflected. His 2M is forever long and his first L (2 hits) can be repeated by holding back. On a vanish wallbounce you can catch the opponent with blink into his 236H. I dont think folks have fleshed him out yet imo.

I think it's neutral/air control like in the examples of bardock/vegito

Tien in this game has the worst outfit he ever had in the show, the outfit that he lost every fight he had with and is emblematic of the disrespect the writing staff have for him="Drip" Yeah... sure thing

It’s is dumb that it’s like that but it has the advantage of taking up the entirety of the space it travels through well 21 and keflas assists are ball like and so do not do this. I feel like you might as well use his b assist too cos ordering how much blockstun it has

@@willkershisnik5893 That is true, but the missing blockstun hurts in neutral too because running up and true string into 5L is basically impossible with Ten A. The full ground coverage does imo not make up for the worse blockstring-applications, slower, less hitstun and no run-up into 5L.

@@rin-senpai7115 I guess you could argue that it is easier to combo off of than those assists which I would agree with but that’s not really a super important factor when combing off of any assist is possible given enough practice. Hell I still use Big Bang attack as an assist and it works fine since we know the timing

I been running Tien point and the results don't lie. I agree, the buu saga fit is his best fit. I'm partial to what he wore in the dragonball manga too, those purple gi pants were 🔥 Also, the maroon skirt and khaki pants in his dbs fit would go crazy with no shirt on. Think about it and tell me I'm wrong. >.>

@@blankname2167 I mean that’s still relative. For example I find Gogeta blue, UI and Vegito teams with tripple C assists boring, but the people who play them all seem to say Tien is boring cause they can’t mash with him.

@@jman1293 don't play any of those characters or C Assists(I play Basegeta, Gotenks, A21). Tien just isn't very cool in general. Not in this game, not in the anime

Context is important. In the instance of ki blastx???, Bardock can SxLariat and jail into the lariat. Tien can not do this with M.VBF due to startup. The use-cases are entirely different. As a Tien main I use Ki blasts very infrequently
