whoa, the full quote like that has been my discord profile bio for years now! my biggest issue with master duel is how unnatural it feels with how it always asks if you or your opponent wants to activate something. I know there is no easy way around it, but that can really be metagamed
@@shebo96 nah he did not, his views barely reach 50k per video, master duel core founding players especially in ocg including me prefer a more discussion about certain archetypes. Might be a reality check, but in ocg draft and old format is unpopular, people take pride of their signature archetype more, draft and old format took that away.
@@shebo96 i can guaranteed if you ask people in ocg they will prefer to play legend anthology than last try out 2010, you cant force me to ditch sky striker to play in old format with archetypes that i dont like. Dont say make multiple ladder, because now i have to build 2 deck FOR TWO DIFFERENT FORMAT to grind for rewards, if they did one format will rewards nothing like the 3vs3, which then people never going to play it. "fun and creative" easier to be said than done, sure make a permanent draft mode that only less than 1000 people going to play, from monetary and engagement standpoint that is not worth it for most big companies, held more festival is far better choice because it can capture both competitive and casual players who actually play the goddamn game.
Konami doesn't care because like all gachas, you need to put the hardcore players against the casuals so the hardcore players feel good about spending money to win. Do you think a snake eyes fiendsmith player just loves the archetype? No, they just want to win. If Konami enables rewards in casual then the casual players will play their DM or brick eyes decks there and the meta players will play against harder decks, not winning as much. This means they aren't as happy and won't spend as much too. It sucks but Konami won't change it
I think the reason why they don't make these festivals permanent is because these festivals are like events in gacha games. They encourage players to login because it's a limited time event. This might not apply to some, but it does for others. FOMO is a real thing and companies know how to use it to their advantage. That being said, it would not hurt to turn one or two of the most popular festivals into permanent modes. Konami only stands to profit from making a new game mode that requires players to make new decks that they don't already have.
Also, most of the events are only good the first few hours (I don't man subjectively good) then it gets solved and and becomes degenerate. Like who didn't see skull invitation and thought "free material for dibell or sinful spoils," Or six sam being tier zero in the 2010 format.
No, Konami has the data, they know people will leave the trash Ranked if they create a permanent alternative mode. They can see how many players never touch the ranked, when the event is GOOD.
When Master Duel first dropped, Selection Packs had 10 URs. Now it's around 14. Pull rates haven't increased to keep up with the larger pool of URs per pack. We're quietly being screwed over by rarity inflation and I think that's more of a problem than the lack of different game modes More game modes and duel variety would be cool to see. Time Wizard festivals (not just duel trials) would be a great addition if we're not gonna have full on additional formats added. Taking a vacation in another game mode is a nice change of pace
Also, when MD first released, the archetypes that were already in the game mostly had like 2-3 URs. Now whenever a new archetype is implemented, Konami overflows it with URs, because they break up every TCG set (1 set release per 3 months roughly) into 3 MD packs (1 pack of new cards per month roughly). And due to Konami being Konami, obviously every MD pack needs to have as many URs as possible, because ... surely that will make people want to spend money on the game, right? Also, pull rates have actually decreased.
Yeah compare the rarities of a top deck back then like Tri Brigade to a modern top deck now like Snake Eyes or Rescue Ace. The amount of UR's required is almost quadrupled.
Konami is tripping. I'm a yugi-boomer that dropped out at the start of GX; I got back into the TCG by really getting into Legacy of the Duelist. Adding more format into MD is only going to bring more players in. No one is going to abandon the physical cards if MD opens up its formats, it's only going to hype us up.
Hell, I actually built my own Super Quant deck after playing it a lot in Master Duel. That proves that MD didn't take me away from the physical card format. If anything, it brought me closer to being back into the TCG
Literally. There are so many cool cards and archetyoes that just dont have a home to play. Whats the point of a card game when 90% of the cards arent... useful.... ever? My giant tin of hundreds of cards that I love looking at are gathering dust digitally when itd be the easiest thing to add just... another mode...
I think a tournament mode that allowed custom ban lists, custom rules and matches that were best of X number of games with side decking would be lit. Players could create their own tournaments for fun and Konami could run events with like in game rewards as prizes
@@UltracoreUltraUranium It is fine, Clash Royale has similar feature too, Tournament mode with fee. But the cool thing from Clash Royale. The fee is actually for the prize for that tournament.
Yeah, sometimes I want to just Spiral Spear Strike some fools with Gaia or something else casual to spice things up. This season is already very sweaty with Snake-Eyes, Tear, Galaxy-Eyes, and Cyberse Piles :/
While I agree with most of your points I still believe that Maxx C is the number 1 problem with the game entirely. Every deck has this resolve Maxx C win/lose requirement. Your opponent wins because they resolved Maxx C or you win because you resolved Maxx C. Because of this we are living in what we call the Maxx C format where we play 3 Maxx C and cards that specifically counter Maxx C. The evidence is literally in the game itself where it mentions that 90% plus decks run Ash blossom and Maxx C. I ended up abandoning Master Duel because of this sickening format of Mr Maxx C
I agree with proper deck building you can counter the card however I still believe we are stuck in the Maxx C format limbo. Building a deck you need what I call the Maxx C package where you need 3 copies of C with 3 ash to counter them, called by, crossout ect. Wheres the issue? These cards have seen an alarming 90+ percent in every deck which is where I say this game is basically Maxx C format apart from special event formats.
Konami needs to find a middle ground between what Master Duel already is and what Paul is suggesting. If all those events and modes remain playable, people will still eventually complain about them because special events aren't special if they're always available. But yeah, there needs to be something that incentivizes casual play, as well as more modes in casual play beyond just "regular YuGiOh, but no rewards or stakes". However, before they do any of that, they need to fix the competitive scene. Master Duel players spend hella money, even though it's technically a free to play game, and I don't see many people paying that much money just to play the random casual duel or Synchro event. Especially if casual duels and these event duels are going to remain having minimal rewards.
Konami wants people to use their simulator, yet they won't add features that duelingbook and edopro have had for years. Even their older games had battlepack draft and much better search features in the deck editor. And the monetary benefit for different game modes is that it gives people a reason to want to craft a lot of banned or low-powered, high-rarity cards. They could make packs for older formats even.
I just want to be able to play and earn rewards in order to build more decks without having to constantly deal with meta decks and handtraps/floodgates/negates.
Floodgates have been very prevalent since Labyrnth came out. There are other decks that use them ofc (like Traptrix and Floodgate Trap Hole, Gravediggers Trap Hole, and some even use Dimensional Barrier), and it is the second biggest reason I'm not enjoying Master Duel atm.
they could add a list of challenges such as winning a duel without maxx c in the deck, or winning without playing one of the top meta decks, or win by not activating any hand traps. Gems given each time one of them is done. Some super hard challenge that gives UR material would be a game changer too.
Master Duel just isn't interesting for me right now. It really feels like it's MISSING something..... like it always is. Didn't even finish the recent Duel Pass (I was just not enjoying playing the game at that point)
I'd like an actual story mode, like the previous Yu-gi-oh games, the Tag force games were great, but even legacy of the duelist had a good story (playing through anime duels with anime decks) no reason they can't add that in.
My guess is that they consider MD to be the more competitive-focused game outside of Archetype showcase/lore, while DL is more along the anime/story stuff
Yeah I had a game where I got Maxx c 3 times in one game and only reason I could even play was that I was playing shaddols who can reasonably play under it. Maxx c is aids and the most broken tcg exclusive to ever be made.

Let em waste a Maxx when they activate it. Or just stop playing the meta and don't special summon mate
Oh my god how did i not think of that! Next time Im getting maxx c'd by snake eye fire king Ill just pass, what could go wrong! Also by dont play meta you mean play stun I assume. I play purrely and zarc pend which play decently under maxx c, not sure if those are meta to you
Maxx C does bother me, I won't pretend it doesn't and I would much prefer it if it wasn't there, but at this point it must be a core design philosophy of theirs to keep it in the game. Okay, fine. But as someone who uses Master Duel to test out TCG decklists, I'd LOVE for there to be a proper TCG game-mode. I dunno, maybe there just wouldn't be much demand for such a thing, but it's tough to play at higher levels when I'm subjecting myself to a banlist that nobody else is. The loss of Baronne and Borrelload Savage Dragon (for me, not the opponents) just compounds the issue. But again, this is a "me" issue. If I just played Master Duel as its own stand-alone game, I'd probably be rocking triple Maxx C like everyone else. One other thing I'd like to see, however, is a non-ranked game mode that still gave you rewards. The festivals are like that, and I really try to take advantage of them, but they aren't always around. And the higher I climb in the ranks, the more of the same meta decks I meet and sometimes whatever janky deck I'm testing simply doesn't match up. At that point, all I can really do is stop playing until my rank decays back down next month. Fun. But I guess this ties into what you were talking about. Permanent festival formats would be great.
Yeah I hate that it restricts Deck building in master duel you can't play breakers because of maxx c so it doesn't matter what deck you build it's always going to be exchanging hand traps till someone gets through and gg if maxx c was banned at least there would be diversity between hand trap build decks or board breaker decks but in master duel there is no choice I've tried it before and because of having to cater to maxx c you lose 9x slots that could have been board breakers so board breaker style hands are just pretty much always awkward
I think something like a permanent duel academy mode would be perfect for this. It's environment is casual enough to not get fully overwhelmed while also introducing everything the game has to offer in a digestible way. Give it something like a 3k initial gem reward and then like 750 every following, a set of loaners and make it the recommended mode for beginners and it'd make getting into the game way easier.
I think you got to it in the end with the wait times. With a game like Master Duel, player retention is the most important thing to Konami, and adding a whole bunch of other formats, fracturing the playerbase in the process would bring about a whole wealth of problems they can’t fix. You’ll start to see Reddit posts everywhere like ‘why can’t I find an Edison match?’ Etc etc When they’re timed events, there’s a certain novelty there and some fomo thrown on top that make people want to play, keep player pools full and load times short. For some people it’d probably only take idk, 30 seconds to a minute of sitting there waiting until they give up and close the app (especially if playing on mobile where it’s so easy to move on to something else). Plus, at the end of the day, if people can permanently play an old format deck that’ll never need to change cause the card pool and banlist is set in stone, those people will never need to buy packs or gems again
@@apsamplifier yeah, and I think that was Duel Links’ strength originally, as it was a different and slower format to the TCG that had the novelty of being on mobile But now well, Duel Links is a whole other thing
@@Viseakwhy you use freaking reddit in a game that majority are played by asian players? Do you have any idea that there very low demands for retro format here.
I do agree that having more modes would be fun to be permanent, but as someone who plays a game with not a super high player base (Smite) splitting player bases with more modes and queues can lead to a lot of other issues
Yeah, it would definitely split the playerbase pretty significantly. I'd prefer a rotating event mode on top of the current limited event. For example the limited event would be whatever they just cooked up, whereas rotating event mode would change between the previous events every day/week/month. That would somewhat give more options without splitting the playerbase too much
Your cat is beautiful!! Also why is everyone ignoring that awesome shirt with all the Poké-doggies!?!? These two things make it the most perfect TeamAPS video! I agree about the different formats that should be available all the time. A cool thing I’d love would be to improve the duel room by adding the ability for custom rules. It would be difficult to implement, but they could do it little by little, such as a card that activates immediately on the field at the start of the duel to start off with. Also puzzle duels. They were amazing in the DS games, where you could create your own and share it with other players.
There are just to many UR cards in every deck (even bad ones) that it’s hard to build new decks as an f2p player. I have concluded that sit on 4 mat apo and thunder dragon colossus with a hand trap and pray they don’t have subversion is the play.
MD problems imo, pvp only progression, tournament format "48 hour brain rot fest", missing formats, daily missions that are not fun or exciting, the chaos ladder where fun is not allowed even at the top rank, not being able to interact with opponent in anyway "no gg after game or chat options in anyway". There are so many other features that the game would benefit from but most of all where are the protagonists deck boxes and sleeves?.
Or… or… hear me out. It’s a little crazy but… can we have an option to play TCG meta, OCG meta, and master duel meta all the time. Tadah! Yeah, I know, really stupid idea. 🙄
So i thought about it the reason they may not have kept the older format styled duels is that while they can get sales. The cards for those formats wouldn't change so basically after the initial purchase of whatever cards they may not see any additional sales for other cards in the formats. Not sure how accurate this is but something to think about. :)
The cool thing about master duel is. They could make their own format with a limited card pull then rotate cards out that are problematic or to keep the game mode fresh. Like example they could do cards released on or before x day x month 2007. So they can get around "fixing" a legacy format and angering everyone and still simultaneously appeal to older yugioh players release more packs to make more money and control the format so it don't resort to the same 4 decks being played by everyone. For example would be chaos being played everywhere ban BLS envoy for example. Even a sealed format(can be a festival too, or rotate card pull every week or month) where you have to pay 1k gems a pop and get like 10-15 packs of the sealed format packs to build a deck and that deck to last you for the month and every 3-5 wins you get a couple of packs to upgrade your deck. Wouldn't be bad
If they did put in multiple game modes, having a playlist with whichever modes you'd like to play in (and have a deck for) toggled on would help with the queueing issue. It could also actually help with monetisation, in the sense that this would encourage more deck building/customisation.
That cat is one beautiful flame-point! Personally, I think game modes would be a nice addition to the game. But it is true that it would make waiting for an opponent a nightmare.
The Limit One festival a while back was so fun. I made a Harpie Lady deck for it and it did pretty well, but it also made an interesting deckbuilding challenge to get that engine going while not having as ready access to Elegant Egotist.
100% agree with all of this. Also, Yu-Gi-Oh! needs Master Duel. In the equasion, not all shops runs other formats or even runs Yu-Gi-Oh! at all. Meaning it's way easier to go online and play different formats. Having options is a key to success. I also agree with the your statement of minimal effort from Konami toward Master Duel. But I also think it's related to them being afraid of taking risk. Duel Link is way worst in the therm of gaccha games and they only want to copy the TCG mostly were it's already ''successful''.
Before Watching: I’m gonna watch before I give my full opinion, but by the title alone, I’m gonna have to hard disagree. After Watching: I agree. I find it 50-50 with your take. But we still can’t ignore they the roach is a big factor in the reason why competitive and casual players are getting tired with Master Duel. But I also feel we should have GOAT, Edison, TCG, and OCG modes as opposed to the regular Master Duel ladder, so that way people who want the roach can play it with the best of one format, and the TCG mode can have a best 2 of 3. Also have the festival modes as constant things.
I think MD should have playlists similar to how popular games like halo 2 had playlists. The first set of choices the player would have is between ranked and casual. Then the player could choose which format they want to play. You don’t have to include every single format but just hit the big ones. I’m thinking a playlist for: -TCG -OCG -MD (not sure this would be needed anymore) -Edison -GOAT I would at least start with those 4-5 and add more every year. This would bring and retain more players while also providing a more diverse pool of players. It would increase gem sales since you’d have separate rank for each play list and the competitive players would want to buy gems to make decks for every format. Finally, it would all but destroy the tcg, OCG, and physical card sales. While this would hurt Konami in the short term, in the long term it would help them since they would be the first fully digital trading card game in the world. And that’s where the future is for these games. People don’t want to spend $1000 for one deck just to drive 20-30 minutes to get to locals to have duel against an 11 year old with peanut butter fingers and his parents glaring at you.
Personally I want: 1)Maxx C Ban 2)Match/Best of 3/Side deck options 3)More frequent events 4)More time wizard/older format events 5)Faster animations. Every first turn takes 4 mins, that is not normal. You either die from boredom waiting for ur opp to end his 1st turn, or u get Time Limit loss, especially with decks like Tearlaments that play during ur turn and activate 8 chain links depending on their mills. 6)A solo mode that isn't kanser and makes u restart cuz ur loaner deck is ass 7)Better connection for the mobile players, cuz no matter ur internet speed the game will always lag and will show that ur opp is lagging and not u.
As a beginner who hasn't played the tcg at all, it would be great to have a solo practice mode where you can learn how to play your deck through experience without having to worry about getting stomped or your oppenent surrendering after the first part of your combo. Also I seriously don't understand why they have the structure decks set up in this way so you have to buy three of them and then craft a bunch of extra ultra rares to make the deck somewhat viable. The whole point of a structure deck should be that you can buy it once and then learn to play it without having to change anything. I'm loving the game but MD makes the beginner experience absolutely horrible.
A good change to casual mode would be to change it so you can earn gems, but ban any archetypal cards from decks that can get to Master rank consistently. So you will have your casual Heart of the Underdog mode. The banlist could be based on the last year/ year and a half of master duel Master rank data.
Why there isn’t a master duel weekend locals every weekend where you would pool players into a server and it give you a few rounds of Swiss, do this every weekend, offer gems for topping or exclusive emblems or mates or something. So simple. Or a draft mode would be fun
Different queues would be dope. The only lobby feature I'd like to see is a draft mode. A draft would be super fun, but I don't think it'd be great for a queue as it'd be a little long. But i do think edison or goat as a queue would be dope!
I really like that they’re limited time modes , it’s super fun cuz we’re all itching for something new but when it’s over it’s kinda like …. “Thank god it’s over”
As a very non-competetive person, I absolutely hate that you have to play ranked to get your dailies. Tbf it doesn't take long to get the rewards, but I'd much rather play a time wizard or wacky low power format that restricts you and encourages creative deck building. Currently, I only log in if there is an event I like going on and those can be weeks apart from one another, which is a shame, cause yugioh is my favorite TCG from a game mechanics perspective.
MD could add a "premium pass" that unlocks these features where you can play old formats and even a OCG/TCG mode so you can play your IRL deck online. EZ fix and a way to monetize it. Dueling Book has had these different modes, and i'd be nice if an official Konami game also had these features.
This is why i alternate with hearthstone as the single player set up in that is really good and intuitive. The thing that kills me is the 5 minute turns where a player has thought of a combo to go from one 2 star placement to having a field full of sweaty ritual monsters with effects in one go. There should maybe be a summon limit per turn or like duel links reduce the card slots on field.
My issues with master duel is the coin toss decider. I have been losing the coin toss more times than winning the coin toss. It has been happening for 6 seasons.
Something I suggested in a different video was to introduce a “standard” game mode; it has a couple of gem rewards for playing it daily, but it doesn’t have a rank matchmaker, and it uses the current banlist. Ranked would have more/higher rewards, but introduces that rank hurdle, while Casual could restrict the most powerful decks of a format but allow everything else.
I seem to remember before Rush Duel was announced for Duel Links, it was discovered in the code of both it and Master Duel. I would actually play Master Duel if they added Rush Duel. Of course, it still needs more modes for normal duels and a dedicated Rush Duel sim would be good but it would be something. It would bring people to Master Duel (and honestly is a good enough way to play Rush if they aren't gonna print it in the West) and the meta wouldn't be insane like Normal YGO. Maybe they'll announce it this year. Who knows?
I would love if they allowed you to buy a deck IRL and get that same deck in master duel. Found that with Pokemon if you buy a deck you import it right into the Pokemon Card Game App.
I do think alternative game modes are really important to MD. Casual doesn't need to give rewards, but definitely shouldn't be just a testing ground for constructed Meta/Ladder worthy decks. Solo is good, but limited in its aspects. The fact that the festivals are one and done sucks. However, Maxx C really is the problem with MD. The main game mode is Ladder and if you want to do well, you basically need to use 3 Maxx C, 3 Ash Blossom, 2 Called By The Grave, 1 Crossout Designator. All because 1 card exists. 9 deck slots is what used to be room for engines or tech cards, but is now mandatorily filled by Maxx C and the counters. Making the main Ladder more fun to play makes MD more fun to play. If more people start to/keep playing, maybe we will get more people filling out the questionnaires and as a result of that, more game modes/improvements.
I want to at least be able to grind gems and whatnot in single player as an option aside from the archetype missions so I can also test and tweak my decks not being at the mercy of the wifi
1. Create a mode similar to a tournament. 8 people log in, 1vs1, win not with a single duel, but best of 3. The winner of tournament win 3 packs or something. 2. Create a mode for rouges decks. Plays against fire decks is all good, but boring. 3. For the love of God, free map for floow players, the deck with most ban is floow right now, and make absolute no sense.
I wish they would keep them as alternatives as having to gamble on event good or bad. Is absolutely terrible when there's zero ease up on the best deck even after banlists.
if they have too many game modes simultaneously, it'll be harder to get matchups in the less popular ones, and that's a lot of extra device data for game modes nobody plays.
My main issue with Master duel is getting online to play somebody and t h e r e being zero sportsmanship and then I'm taking 20 minutes to Take 5 minutes to beat you in one turn by link summoning consistently I'm here to play Yu-Gi-Oh a full match
I agree with making master duel as the Hub of yugioh. It would allow us to have rush duel and speed duel as gamemode within master duel (which I dont agree how duel links is seperate from master duel)
If im not playing an incredibly cheap deck or meta I can’t have fun. Casual dueling would be great to actually enjoy with rewards bc there’s so many classic decks I want to play that I can’t bring online
I think if they made some of the events permanent or at least had more running at the same time, that'd offer a lot more variety and be really good. Like the event where you could only have 1 copy any card in your deck, or where you're limited to only card that came out before 2010. Stuff like that is such a huge breath of fresh air from the normal ranked ladder.
I've been saying that master duel needs a story mode and challenge mode similar to what legacy of the duelist had on top of the gates along with more formats for the duel rooms
I like Master Duel but a lot of times I dont like playing ranked as much but i have to play it in order to get gems. I prefer playing Casul cuz I'm just that. I like playing the archetypes. My current favorite right now is Memento after moving on from darklords & drytron. (These 2 decks got me into master duel)
ill be playing it more now that Yubel is in the game its a deck I really want to try out in the TCG, slowly building it. Older formats should be the golden standard and adding more solo stories would be fun but maybe with more competitive decks
I am basically new to master duel as of like a month or so ago? My biggest issue is material accessibility. Between trying to craft/pull just the UR staple pool, in addition to whatever deck id like to run's URs, its kinda pricey. The gem system kinda can help but even that is chance to get packs I need/want-plus any extra UR dismantle gets you 10, when you need 30 to craft. I am having a blast playing, but trying to build up to get a halfway decent fun deck is a bit of a challenge. It would be cool if a dismantle was a one for one-I can get rid of a UR monster ill never use, if it means I can craft one UR staple I will for sure use/maybe need. Again, pretty new to the whole game so I am probably missing something to make this easier
Let those formats be on a schedule. Master Duel could implement it kinda on a weekly basis (A new format every week that repeats per month) and just post a monthly schedule. This way it eliminates the small queue of a permanent format and retains the idea of it being Special. Plus it keeps people coming back even just to play their favorite formats.
Goat Edison Master Rule 3 Pendulums Link Master Rule 4 These should be the easier ones to fulfill. They could add starter decks for these eras on the shop. Until then, other simulators are still 1000x better.
I personally wish they would add a quickplay vs cpu mode. It feels so stressful to play other humans, especially when Im not familiar with all the different decks. Id much rather et my skills up against random npc then move over to ranked
Every version of YuGiOh needs more game modes, but I think that if Konami wants to have a gatcha they need to follow standard practice and implement rarity downshifts for older and extremely underused stuff. I'm not saying alternate formats should be inherently super budget, but there are plenty of more casual and fun decks that I'm sure a lot of people will not build even if they have a place to play them because of how tightly resources can be drawn in MD. I have nostalgia for X Saber and I liked when the X Saber gate came out, but there's no way I will invest in that archetype for a long time under the current reward structure and the way that crafting costs force direct value comparisons between all archetypes.
We had games like halo 3 and I know they r separate genres but I remember going into game options and cranking shields and such weapons and speed and all that for a blast. So simply using that concept for rules and wat can or not b played in master dual seems odd that we haven’t already done that here
If Goat was offered. I would jump in. The thing is, TCG and DCG (Digital) attract different people. I want to be able to play whenever with friends from anywhere. I don't want to meet people in person.
Unranked games are very fun to play. Found many based rogue decks with creative combinations. Without any metas and competitive matches. MD should give more prize to unranked games..
Adding more modes would be super easy to increase revenue. With more modes you need more decks. A mtg player might have a standard deck, modern, commander, pioneer, pauper and those cards arnt free.
I havn't been into Master Duel for some time now, but I was missing a best of 3 mode with a sidedeck option. This would make a lot of cards that are currently sitting dead be viable sidedeck options.
Major problems with Master Duel is Baronne not being banned with its current effect(if it is made a little more restrained it would be fine) and Kashtira's effects being unrestrained. It isn't balanced or fair that 1 archetype can mix well into almost every other meta deck or be pure and either way so consistently do 20+ negate&banish per turn on the same card just because *anything* happened.
With more game modes more people would play for sure. I know plenty of people who love yugioh, but don't want to play meta, they want to play decks they like. Making more formats for that will keep them playing. It'll also get them making more cards, since they won't feel like it's wasted if they craft sub par cards. It'd add to the health of the game in general. I'm sure if they had more at launch or shortly after many more people would have stayed.
My issue with Master Duel and modern yugioh in general is the lack a tier system. I like to play quirky decks like Zombies, Toons, Suships and I personally don't like making a quarter of my deck being hand traps. I feel like the higher you go in the ladder, the more you're boxed into a selection of 2-3 archetypes that you may not want to play. I believe a good fix for this would be Pokémon style tiers. Yes, you'd essentially have small ecosystems within the tier and they'll always be "The best deck to use" in each, but you'd stand more of chance against the meta of your tier than you would against Snake Eyes every other duel...
I want to grind the duel pass without running into Kashtira and Tearlament every two or three games. That would be nice. Remember when those decks weren’t in Master Duel, and when you opened up the app to play, you could *actually* play? Good times…
Only downside with too many game modes would be not enough people. Add another game mode or 2 and keep events (make them longer than 3 days when short).
