The Problems With MultiVersus Ranked. 

They need to also show the rank of the person you’re facing. Such a simple feature that can be easily added. Every single game that has ranked shows the rank of your opponent.

This is a trial run! The developers have been listening to the fans and giving us what we want!

NO TO PLACEMENT RANKS… that is the one thing that leaves people “Elo locked” and has been an issue ever since halo and over watch have tried it… if you’re good you’ll go up and if you’re bad you’ll find your place.. but to have 10 matches determine where you stand when nobody is currently ranked is beyond stupid.

I’m glad that they realize that ranked isn’t ready and is not rushing into anything and instead wanting to learn how to improve it

I always thought it would be interesting to see how ranked would launch in such a (relatively) new game like MultiVersus! Videos like this are always nice to watch when updates like the one just seen in MultiVersus release.

I think there is a system in place but it’s based on the rank of your opponent as I lost my first ranked game and in my second game I jumped to silver 3 without ever hitting bronze.

So the idea of placement matches huge big love that idea. But the idea of as you go up and up in ranks you gain less lose more, is a huge mix up when it comes to ranked games. You want to reward players for doing well. By having people in higher tiers gain 1 but lose 3 you are now incentivizing people to play the game less. You want to reward players for doing well. This means like how you said that you had 100% win rate in bronze the game should reward you for doing well and give you a win streak bonus until you start losing. That way you are rewarded for doing well instead of being punished for doing well. I’m higher tiers you can have it be a system where if you are on a losing streak you lose more. As it try’s to balance out where you should be now this shouldn’t be a crazy amount because you don’t want someone who is a diamond player, drop to silver because of a bad day. And to the point that you made about it should be hard to stay in masters and grandmasters. There is rank discrepancy where if you don’t play you will lose rank until diamond or something so I feel they already have an ok system in place for that.

Dead ass tried to play ranked yesterday, mind you I’m like 2 weeks rusty but like with my level 29 taz I kept running into extremely extremely tough opponents in bronze and for some reason there was too many Harleys So I would definitely agree with the placement system! I was so tilted almost broke my last controller 😭😭 Also I tried on ps4 to let the bar run out to test it but it just rematched for me, I think it’s people just quitting out, it’s def the vibe I got when they got out of it lol

I agree with placement games, I don't like being forced to style on newer or learning players to grind the ranks

My only issue has been the connection, I like everything else a lot!

honestly sometimes its a fun thing to get donked on by someone whos lvl 20. and you do learn somethings if you can keep up with them.

I’m still just struggling with certain characters that whole personality is spamming, every update attack delay gets tweaked and Harley jake and shaggy are still my least favorite match ups not because of skill but because it’s a different game when all your opponents do is spam( just be better than the spam) I’m trying 😢

I think you should be able to decline rematches if you have to go but you get a 5 minute matchmaking ban so you can’t just quickly go into another match. Of course the 5 minutes could be changed but this seems fair to me. Edit: And when they alt f4 they would get replaced with a bot even if not in the game yet

I think after a couple days progression will be easier since people will be in higher ranks but for right now most people are in bronze so they give you a low amount of RP

so this is my take im kinda new to the game I started around the time stripe was released i have around 900 matches played and my main rn is a lvl 12 shaggy. i am consistently getting put aginst people with over 2-3k matches played and 1k+ wins I'm in bronze 3 btw

I disagree with the idea of waiting for a similar matched opponent. Queue times are probably the worst part of games for people (outside of laggy matches) and often times demotivate a person to play. I think maybe having a dynamic point option for that would be better. For example: going against someone of a higher rank makes you lose less point / gain more points if you beat them and vice versa.

The bug that players decline a rematch is actually them shutting the game down. Which also means they rage quitted. Other than that rank seems fun to me and I hope for it when it actually releases.

Similar match is definitely a must but what’s the best match is these servers they gotta get stuff in order

About the 1st issue, i have no idea why it took them so long to hit gold, it took me around 2 hours to reach gold

ion know what it is but since they released that network patch before ranked came out made my entire game feels completely off i’ll have green bars but my moves phase through hit boxes or don’t connect know that it should or my projectile will go in the exact opposite location i intended for it to go too

I tried ranked, I'm not the best player but I do okay, and when I played it omg I was cursing that there were no placements. I felt like fodder for all the better playeds who should be in gold+. Just getting out of bronze was a nightmare, but I feel like Im better than the very first couple ranks xD

the non rematch bug is indeed on alt f4's im doing this vs batman till the cape bug where he is unhittable while recovering to stage is fixed

The placement game system is so key. Like I play rocket league and if I had to be put in bronze every season and grind my way up I’d never play it when I’m clearly way better than players at that level.

Yo ive been disconnecting way more often than usual since the ranked update, pretty upset because I cant really get that many games in and I havent grinded enough for Calico Cake yet. Like every time I get on a solid 30 minutes will go to repeated DCs before im even able to play a game. When I need like 200 more games to get the skin I'm grinding for that percentage is looking pretty grim. Anyone else having the same problem?

With my experience yesterday, if the person closes game before the end screen pops up then you don't get reward, no punishment but no reward. If the screen comes up before they do then it gives you the win. Also your argument about matchmaking, I'm on ps5 so it could be different, but it seems to match me with people at a similar mmr of the character I chose to start with. Which so far hasn't seemed unfair cause yes we both started with a low level character but both have a lvl 20 we could switch to. Say this guy is ranked number 1 as Superman, then he joins a match as his level 2 stripe. Who should he be matched against?

More reasons for placement are probably better cause it’s like some people deserve to be in plat but they start at bronze and some people deserve to be in bronze,it’s gonna be a bad experience and it makes more sense To ban characters which nakat made a video on this but if you don’t like a character ban them for that game so you don’t have to deal with them so if a character is that broken just ban but that’s it.

but well, you also have to keep in mind that it is an alpha and they surely put that mode so that the community would stop fucking with the ranks.

I still think they need more stocks in ranked 1v1, 2 stocks is not enough for a competitive playlist

it doesnt ever do anything to complain about batman, harley etc since their the main faces of their respective franchises and thus multiversus will never have intentions to make them on even level with others

I agree with hazards being auto off but I think each character gets a stage ban and then whatever is left in the pool you get a random stage. As a Lebron player I like tree fort and other stages with walls to keep my ball in bounds of the stage easier. So I think you should just ban 1 stage per player. I hate scooby mansion but if hazards were off then the floors would never drop so I would be happy with it (no roof).

Not gonna lie, most of these points aren’t valid. 1- everyone supposed to start at the bottom ranked. 2- ranked is supposed to be stupid grindy and if u wanna hit the high ranks, expect it to take a very long time. Placement is a good thought but still they don’t place u more than bronze silver gold after. There is alot of negatives from this rank system but it is day 1 and I don’t think these developers are the most experienced like Apex or valorant. I play ranked apex and there is a huge skill gap at gold and plat, with the next one being really hard. But for the most part everyone starts at bronze.

yeah, im not going to grind from bronze to max rank id rather get placed where i belong and work from there to improve, the systems just strange and not very rewarding it feels like people are just being matched randomly then winners go up and losers go down, i get how that can create a system where the best players reach the top but its so long and for a game that already doesnt have many players and isn't showing signs of growth you really dont wanna make us wait around longer to have competitive experiences

one thing that would help the game alot is nerfing combo attacks (attacks that are their own combo or you can spam the attack fo rit to be a one attack combo) right now superman is extremely annoying to fight against because all you really have to do to win as him is spam your neutral air off stage.

I dont think point wins should be tied to ranks but to WR% if im 10% WR in bronze i should stay bronze and it should be hard for me to get out aka winning 1 point losing 3. If im 90% WR platinum i should be getting 4 points losing 2 because my MMR is higher than plat. Once my WR gets to 50% then at that rank i should be winning 2 losing 3 and so on. That way it rewards you for being better and punishes you for being worse than the rank youre currently at.

I agree with every point except the queue times, I'm having like it seems it's an error 5-6 min queue times, everyone says it takes 1 min average and yet I'm fighting against the top 37 of the world or against 12 millions, and I can say you, is boooooring, it's really boooooring waiting 5 minutes to lose 11 rp or gaining 4 rp (I'm silver III), i claimed the profile icon and that's it, no incentive to play more because the problems you mention and my weird long queue times

I feel you should have the option to back out if you lose, but if you do, you lose twice the amount of rank points.

They need to make this game 3 stock especially RANKED MODE

Rank with black adam is difficult. How so just going up against people that have combos that are executed with 100% no mater what. I love black adam but geez with the new update some combos i lesrn dont connect as well as other show on a video. I might just need to train more

It’s just a hard game to do ranked. Cause even if you are very high rank You gonna be goin against literally some of the best dudes in the world. So gaining less points than you lose can just be really discouraging and frustrating when you going against 3 top dudes. Had a whole war. Gain one point for each. Than you lose the 4 game and drop all the way back. Plus stupid stuff like lag will happen and etc. so I don’t think losing more points than gaining even at the higher ranks is a good idea.

85% of my ranked matches have been against Harley, and I hate it. I kind of don’t want to play ranked anymore.

The 2v2 matchmaking is terrible I’m always either carrying my team or randomly getting out classes by someone in the top 500,000 when I’m in 1.2 Mil

I understand not wanting someone to leave after 1 match but in a situation where its clearly one sided why would I rematch them My first ranked game was someone who was number 870 in 1v1 and 2 stocked me At that point in other games I would just leave cause they are clearly better and there was literally no way I was gonna win that set

It would be sick if they let you and opponent ban 1 champ each.

The ranked in this game is a joke right now. They need to add a rp loss gain system. That equets to skill and not time grinded. Love the content S.H

I also think you shouldn't be allowed to play characters you haven't mastered yet in ranked, ranked is not a time to learn with a character, you have casual to learn with a character, I was paired up with a lvl 8 stripe while my oppenets were a lvl 20 bugs and a lvl 17 velma, i noped out of that

Let’s be honest. Ranked needs a complete rework. No reason to sugar coat it at all. We shouldn’t see finished ranked for a while and that should be okay

Hey not saying anything but think about ban picks? Where like in 1v1 each player can ban one character and in 2s one of the two players can ban one character for both teams?

For so long companies have been trying to crack nintendos smash formula because frankly, it makes money, and i feel like multiverses has finally done it but the one thing that shouldnt even be an issue, NET CODE, is crippling the game. Fun yet rewarding gameplay that anyone can pick up and play but takes a lifetime to master? Nailed it. A diverse and rich IP base of beloved characters that people will gladly pay for? Mv has in spades with GoT, looney tunes, cartoon network/adult swim and a million others. Devs that actively interact with the fans and deliver new content consistently? Mv is killing it. A decent core fanbase and a competitive scene? Again, in such a short time Mv already has this. BUT, I honestly want to never play again everytime i lose a ranked match because i teleport literally into the smash zone. THE GAME IS BROKEN! and now that there is something on the line with ranked, its a million times more infuriating when i lose because of clear lag issues. They have done sooooo many things right with this game; it really is a shame that i never want to touch the thing because of such a basic thing as being able to actually PLAY THE GAME. tl;dr - multiverses is doing so many things right but ranked is just making the connectivity issues a million times more infuriating to experience. GAME IS BROKEN. FIX IT.

The ranked system doesn't even rank properly. This mode is BEYOND ready. If you can't rank players properly than there should be NO ranked. It isn't ranked if you lvl 1 fighting a lvl 40. That's just the same as casual. Also being able to change character between the set was the stupidest decision I've ever seen. If your playing ranked you have to stick with that choice till the end. Fuck ranked

I disagree with the rank placement take. I've been playing fighting games since the first evo and every fighting game that had I rank that I know of, everyone starts at the bottom. If youre good as you say you are which I'm sure you are then you will be fine and reach levels that people aren't as good will never get to no matter how much more they play.

If u don't have the time to grind ranked u shouldn't be doing ranked matches anyway :)

As a top 2,000 player, I'm all for playing people who are better than me, for sure. In fact, I love it. But when I play ranked and I queue up against top 50 players who's never touched grass a day in their life and get absolutely destroyed, it isn't fun at all. Yes, it is a skill issue, but lets be honest here... is it really fun when you get 2 stocked by a sweaty Harley or Bugs player? No it's not... Truthfully, there aren't many people who can admit when they are outclassed.
