I agree with you, Dr. Berry. But I was on Ozempic for 8 months. I have PCOS and reached diabetic levels. I went keto (didn’t know carnivore at the time) I lost 20 pounds and plateaued. My A1C and Triglycerides were still very high. I went on Ozempic and it helped me lose 40 pounds. Allowed me to start exercising again because I was so heavy, it was hard to move my body. Off of Ozempic, down 71 pounds altogether, eat mainly Whole Foods prioritizing meat. Much more active. I can do 10 pushups when I couldn’t do 1 before. I’m glad I used it, but I’m glad I had a doctor that was very clear it was an addition and not the cure it’s marketed to be.

I'm disabled and exercise is very difficult. I have pushed myself to the point of further injury trying to lose weight. I've changed my eating habits and lost 20-30 lbs but plateaued. I'm at a point where I need something to help me get to a weight level that I can really exercise without hurting myself. I'm fully aware that this medication is not a cure but it is a tool to help. I was in the military so I do know how to manage nutrition and exercise. Most of my weight gain came from being injured and waiting years for corrective surgeries.

The sad truth is that as a society we need to address WHY so many people are overweight/morbidly obese/diabetic, etc. A pharmaceutical drug doesn’t address lifestyle, mental health, stress management, spiritual well-being and healthy habits. The side effects of any medication are risky and dangerous, but I feel the the standard American lifestyle and diet are the root cause of many illnesses. As a healthcare professional I encourage and educate my patients on these principles. Thank you for this helpful video!

The main misconception here is taking ozempic lifelong. Most of my patients actually are able to come off it and maintain their weight with healthy life choices. Losing weight helps with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome, so when weight is gone you may no longer have pre-diabetes. That is how I look at it. I lost 30 lbs with ozempic and coming off it now. My feel amazing and look great, so now maintaining is the main goal.

Exactly, every drug has side effects and are to be used as a tool, the same as surgery. You HAVE to change your lifestyle (eating, movement) to lose and maintain weight loss.
@DanK123
@DanK123 Год назад
@@kiki121471 Wrong. You don't understand this. It simply makes you eat less food. When you eat less, you lose weight. If your movement stays the same and you eat less, YOU LOSE WEIGHT. At this point, it's not recommended to come off Wegovy (you wouldn't take Ozempic just for weight loss really).....You'd stay on it long term because obesity/overweight is a chronic condition.

@kiki121471 Год назад
@@DanK123 I concur. I work in a Bariatric Clinic in a major healthcare system sir so I absolutely do understand this. You must not understand the content of my my post. I am simply stating that all drugs have side effects and are to be used as a tool (curb appetite therefore eating less) and in order to lose and MAINTAIN weight loss you have to make a lifestyle change. Wegovy is approved for long term use where other weight loss meds are not, ex. Adipex and you can discontinue this medication at anytime. Although obesity has been recognized as a chronic disease, it does not have to be unless the patient has other medical factors preventing weight loss. Reduced calorie intake and increased movement will result in weight loss.

There needs to be a lifestyle change in behavior change along with these GLP-1’s but sadly that is not happening.

I'm following the ozempic news with some kind of morbid fascination. People with obesity who take Ozempic or Wegovy to shed excess pounds might get an unexpected benefit. Results of a small experiment published May 9 in the journal Obesity suggest that drugs containing semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, might help reduce the risk of cancer. That’s because the study found that semaglutide restored the function of so-called “natural killer” cells, which play a role in fighting cancer but often don’t work properly in people with obesity.

I took Ozempic and lost maybe 10-15 lbs in about 2 months, but then I had to stop due to the costs. About 7 months later, I started taking it again. It's interesting that you mentioned the lungs. That first month after I started up again, I had extreme difficulty in breathing. I'm not sure if it's related to the Ozempic, but I never took the 3rd week injection. I could breathe normally again. I threw away about $500 worth of injections. Not being able to get a lungful of air was terrifying.

@@Julie-tc2ks I am familiar with vitamin D levels and lung function because vitamins D cured my asthma that I was developing in 2012 in one week! In less than 24 hours after my first dose of D3 I felt 90% better and by the end of the week I was 99 % cured. I With that I definitely have seen how a lung problem can develop with low levels of D. .( I'm also hypothyroid.) Still I would definitely keep thiamine in mind because that I believe Dr. Berg or someone else drew the connection between "air hunger" and Thiamine. I noted Thiamine with Benfotiamine also seems to keep the tingling in my hands less intense. Thiamine is very much connected with the autonomic nervous system and that also regulates the speed that things pass through it. If Ozempic is altering this there could be a connection between Thiamine and Ozempic and thus the very common symptom of "air hunger" in Thiamine deficiency. People can end up going to the emergency room with it, thinking they can't breathe yet their oxygenation levels are completely adequate.

Exercise daily . My ldl has gone down 10 . Hdl has gone up 10 . I eat protein. Lift weights. Triglycerides wwnt from about 200 to 65. I've lost 20 pounds. I'm pretty happy so far. If I eat things I'm not supposed to I'm going to feel bad and I know that so that helps keep me on track also. A1c down. 0.3 points. Blood pressure has been under control now also.. I think just exercising and seeing how hard you work for it helps you lower down your cravings. When I did workout, I was looking at the calories lost, and I always thought well I would be walking less by 50calories/day if I stop eating a chocolate bar a week. Overall, that would add up to around less walking by 40min/week, which I could use to take an extra nap or 2 or watch a movie or spend time with family. Horsepucky, I had Ozempic for 10 weeks, lost 30lbs in 6 weeks, also while playing racquetball 6 hours each week. Then I went on Metformin because, of course, insurance won't cover Ozempic, being "not medically necessary". Somehow, metformin is. Ozempic turns off hunger in the brain and changes what you crave and like to eat. I could eat once per day. I always ate only a fraction of what I did before Ozempic and I felt like I did as a teenager, eating when I wanted to. Sometimes I ate too little and got feeling faint while playing Racquetball. (Low blood sugar, I guess). I think if everyone got Ozempic who needed it, insurance companies would save $trillions in the long term and the country would make hundreds of billions more in productivity. It's a no brainer, despite the small risk. The risk of Obesity is far greater and broader.

My doctor prescribed Ozempic for weight loss, and I took it for almost 4 months. It was awful. I lost weight, yes, but it's pretty easy to lose weight when you're constantly nauseous, and repulsed by food. After 4 months I was tired, dizzy, constantly headachy, nauseated and had almost constant heartburn. I couldn't drink a glass of water without feeling sick. I no longer enjoyed my food, couldn't even look forward to a nice steak dinner since a few bites would have me feeling queasy. I realized that aside from whatever the drug was doing for my weight, I was also losing weight because I was on a starvation diet since I couldn't eat much of anything. I quit Ozempic a few weeks ago, and my energy is back, my headaches are gone and so is the nausea and heartburn. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone for weight loss!

Whenever I hear "for the rest of your life" when it comes to medicine, I know the doctor has given up on the patient. Sometimes lifetime medicines are necessary (like insulin for some Type 1 diabetics), but usually it's because the doctor gave the patient inappropriate lifestyle changes to deal with a problem and then when they didn't work, out comes the prescription pad. Similar thing happens with statins. Ozempic is just the latest in a long line of "lifetime" pharmaceuticals.

I was a longtime (decades) Metformin user. I know this way of eating is doing fantastic things for my health, but I did agree to taking Ozempic, as a way to accelerate the weight loss to get out of obesity. Wish I had seen your video a few months ago, before I had started the Ozempic…I may have made a different decision. At any rate, the weight is now coming off and my HbA1c and glucose levels are finally down to normal levels. Thank you, Dr. Berry. I began taking Ozempic in early 2021; at the time, my A1c was out of control, and the next stop was insulin. However, it _might_ help me lose a little weight, my doctor said. I am currently taking Trulicity, an older drug in the same class, because I was unable to get Ozempic due to it being diverted by the weight loss industry. I also COMPLETELY revamped my diet, as well as exercising (I currently walk/run 5+ miles/day). I do isometric resistance exercises (pull ups, squats, pushups, oh god soooo many pushups). I have lost 150 lbs. Just under half my bodyweight, and I do not have the muscle loss that you bring up. Now, did the GLP-1 agonist do ALL of this? NO, absolutely and completely not. Both my GP and psychiatrist fall all over themselves to reassure me of this. On the diabetic dosage, I could have expected to lose 3-5% of my bodyweight, not 50%. But what the GLP-1 agonists, and Ozempic in particular, did for me was give me the strength of willpower to make those changes. By dampening my incessant hunger, I had the chance to take a breather, re-evaluate my choices, and change. Will I be on it forever? That is certainly a possibility, but it's not in my plans. Competitive bodybuilding, maybe... 🤣

I live in Ontario, Canada. I've never had type 2 diabetes (and doctors have admitted it) but on paper it says I do. A few years ago they got me to try the lowest starting dose of metformin and it put me on the floor twice with extremely low blood sugar. I literally had to eat some sugar and lay there trying to get it back up. I took my hba1c from 6.7 to 5.7 in about a year just with diet but I think due to my medications (propranolol and Clonazepam) the weight won't come off. So my doctor got me a OHIP covered prescription for ozempic. They lied and said I couldn't take metformin for some reason, to get it to me for free. I told them I didn't want it. I only think my blood sugar was high because I used to drink alcohol. I'm pretty sure that's how I gained the weight but I have a few other problems, nodules on my thyroid gland (1 very large that they've checked every year for over a decade) the Clonazepam that I take as an anticonvulsant etc. All this crap could be my thyroid. But getting back to the point, I don't over eat or anything and doctors have admitted it by my blood sugar. I don't even check it anymore because all my results were non diabetic for years. But I KNEW not to take Ozempic as a "weight loss" drug. Especially after the way they tried to talk me into it like drug dealers and even though I said I didn't want it they LIED to get me a free prescription acting like they were helping me. I never touched it. I never picked up the prescription. I reckoned I'd leave it for the people that needed it. As soon as I googled it a couple years ago I saw that there was a shortage of the drug due to the amount of people using it as a weight loss drug. So my instinct was that patients were being used as lab rats for a study. I'm glad I never touched it.

I have 2 friends taking Ozempic for weight loss. I'm just using a ketovore diet. We all started on Jan 1 2024. I've lost about 3/4 of the weight that they have lost. I've lost 29lbs and both of them have lost about 40lbs. They are both doing well and have only had minor nausea for side effects, at least short term. Honestly, I think I'll take the natural way, even though it will certainly take longer and require more dedication. I try not to put many pharmaceuticals in my body if I can help it. No negative side effects to a good diet.

So I started the Carnivore diet three weeks ago. I’ve lost 20 lbs down from 308. My eyesight is better which blew my mind. My arthritis in my knee and my hands are almost completely gone. I have type 2 diabetes and stopped the Ozempic two weeks ago. My morning glucose was 96! It wasn’t that good even with Ozempic. !!!! I feel great and am eating raw filets and eggs! I have tons of energy and my sleep is really different in a good way. I am shocked at the level of improvements in just 3 weeks… Im 50 years old next month and I’m on my way to my goal of getting down to my high school weight of 250! I’m excited about my life and the quality of it!! Thanks for this channel and Jordan Peterson!!

I was told by my endocrinologist that Byetta/Bydureon was a wonder drug and I had to have it as I was reacting poorly to the other type 2 diabetes medications I had tried. I ended up having severe palpitations and my GP thankfully told me to stop taking it! She actually asked me why I'd put up with the side effects for 6mths (I was told they'd improve!) I did lose weight (but have since put it all back on plus more) but my HbA1c was rising despite eating a decent diet. I was then properly diagnosed as type 1! Far out! Thank you Dr Berry for telling the truth .... I'm listening to you now and my GP is more than willing to look outside of the mainstream medical 'recommendations'. Just enjoyed the most delicious bacon and eggs breakfast 😊

NOzempic is BAD 😢 I was pushed to take it and after months of listening, consented to trying it. I gave it a long time to start working but all it did was kept me very sick and in bed a lot. No change in my diabetis at all. They told me they would prefer I don't do keto, but after much research we (hubby and I) decided to try keto and voila...diabetes is gone, liver is smooth and diabetes teams jaws dropped.😊 By the way, I didn't lose weight with ozempic, husband and I each lost 100 pounds with keto.

I mean this respectfully - but if you were actually carnivore (zero packaged “carnivore” snacks) for 8 months and you only lost 2 lbs then you’re simply eating too much - it’s physically impossible to be zero carb and not lose weight unless you’re overeating. I’m a pharmacist - Dr Berry is right, Ozempic is going to be a disaster with how many people are on it. If u can do carnivore then just fast 18hrs every other day and you’ll lose weight but Ozempic is going to turn out badly for a lot of people - it may be 1yr or 5yrs but it’s going to have major unintended consequences

OZ had helped me 100% I have dealt with FATTY LIVER for past ten years and A1C high. I’ve tried everything to loose weight. Nothing worked. Last Feb22 started .25. List 25 lbs A1C down and also liver enzymes down noticeably. I came off OZ and did not regain anything (November). Th semiglutide helped me change the way I eat. And I’ve kept that going. Since being off OZ I’ve not lost anymore weight. I’m starting my second go with OZ and in 3 weeks have lost 3 lbs so far. It’s curbed my cravings nicely. I’m also taking TUDCA in the morning one pill I’ve done that since January. Bloodwork just showed my liver enzymes almost normal A1C 5.6. For the past post menopause years nothing helped. I kept getting referred to liver specialists nobody told me how to help my stupid system work. I’m 64 and for the first time in 10 years I’ve got more energy and am so happy I see numbers coming down. No exercise or diet worked. Nothing could help my willpower OZ WORKED helping me. I have watched you for years. Trust me I needed this help.

I think we need more videos like this. My doctor explained that Ozempic curbs your cravings to eat, and slows,the food through the bowels so you feel full. I personally don’t crave food, but had trouble losing weight because I am not doing cardio as much due to recovering from bilateral QTR. My MD put me on Phentermine and I lost 10lb the first month and felt 20 yrs younger because I was also able to think more clearly.. It was not covered by insurance but was only $16 for a month supply vs. $1,300 for Ozempic.

I know this doesn't happen to everybody, but 48 hours after my first ozempic I started vomiting and extreme runny bowels began. The next day I was ok. So I tried it again this week, and sure enough, terrible nausea and awful uncontrollable diarrhea. I'm 74, been nauseous many times in my life, but never as bad as with this stuff! I lost 126 lbs a few years ago with keto, then gained 50 pounds back. If I want to lose more weight, I'll just do keto again.
