Seriously, they need to do new podcasts...they're already the king of podcasts, why not continue the reign? :D I always fall asleep at night to the xfm/podcasts, I need new material...like my 50th time repeating them all.

hundreds of hours of my life have been spent on them however the radio show was the true gem in the gervais, pilkington n merchant back catalogue. a 6 music show after rad mac would be an absolute delight

WE MISS YOU KARL ! when I'm at work i listen to the podcasts to pass the time even if i've already heard em. you're right about Cloud Atlas…no idea what it was about. you should do a DIY show where you fix things around your house, like the boiler.

The one thing I don't understand is how Karl is such a good writer. I'm not saying he shouldn't be, but here he says he writes how he speaks, and he does but he also writes very well so that everything flows and the emphasis is on the right bits. It's seriously a talent I think has gone amiss with him, and it be quite interesting if he could release a series of short stories or something. Nothing too heavy, nothing too poetic, but just some short novellas of his little film ideas would do.

I couldn't wait for the paperback, so I splurged on the hardcover. Worth every penny! Karl just gets better and better with each book. So true he writes exactly how he speaks, which makes it utterly hilarious! The book is such a great compliment to the show, especially since you get full-on unedited Karl and all his opinions and thoughts.

He’s so right about how books should be relaxing. I just brought the An Idiot Abroad book and have had a lot of fun reading it so far. Really enjoyable. Although I do believe some books should be challenging if the ideas are there to justify it.

I actually agree with Karl about making things complicated; a good story shouldn't be difficult to understand, a good story should be simple and easy to follow with a clear subtext (a good example would be Ben Stiller's Secret Life of Walter Mitty; absolutely stunning film with a superb story)
