Liam Howlett is a genius and a prodigy and the most original producer of our generation and will be remembered in history for changing our soundscape in innumerable ways. His dancers are alright, too.
One of the _top_ music composition geniuses in history. I don't see how someone who listens to the diversity and quality of the toTality of Prodigy's music could not agree. Similar to Delerium/Front Line Assembly.
I love the 3D animations in the old prodigy videos, by today's standards they sure look crappy as fuck, but I can't imagine the hardware and the effort used back in the day to do them.
SuperHammaren Kraftwerk's video was top-of-the-world technology at the time, and not real-time. It's not the same as home computers and video-games, their timelines are very different. Home computers began in the late 70's, electronic computers at the 50's. The Prodigy at the time of this video was just a bunch of boys playing with music keyboards and amateur CGI in their PCs.
Liam Howlett. The Prodigy. I mean dude, what an amazing, gifted producer. Dude was like 19 - 20, maybe 21 at a push and he dropped Experience and it just blew minds. He is literally a prodigy.
This is by far my favourite prodigy track. It was the first song from them i heard somewhere in the 90's and i was hooked from the get go. I remember hunting the cassettes to get all prodigy songs. I'm from former soviet union and we had just gotten our freedom. I was soaking myself into everything that came from the west, a free world and sometimes it was difficult to get my hands on things i wanted. I actually got my first prodigy casseste from some bootleg vendor.
One of the ultimate Prodigy tracks that put them up there in cult status. Not to sure about their recent stuff, but this era - they where kings. It gave the general commercial massive access to some true Raving music, and brought many more into the true Rave scene. Lets hope they keep going for years to come, but perhaps return to their ultimately true roots - the line between rave and commercial.
I do not think this track contributed something special to their succes compared with other early and popular tracks like Charly, Everybody in the place and Out of space, but perhaps it receive cult status in the underground environment? I personally think "Fire" is awesome, and better than e.g "Firestarter", even I think the other three tracks above is even better!
This track was the one to me. This version specifically. I saw it on a video tape at a cousins place. Loved the sound/melody, specially this part and I was disappointed when this version was not on the album I later bought. I was into the very early hardcore stuff, Netherlands. Prodigy was the only outsider we really accepted in our scene in the early days.
My first encouter with The Prodigy; watching MTV Dance as a 12 year old on a saturday night and seeing this video. Never heard or seen something like it. Couple of months later heard Out of space on the radio and figured out it was the same band. Went to the record store the same day and bought Experience. Been the biggest fan ever since. Glad to have seen them live several times. Their music helped me through so many (hard) times... Can't believe 30 years have passed.. Thanks for all the great tunes Liam, Maxim, Leeroy and Keith (R.I.P.). Love you guys!
It's so awesome to me that in the beginning there were four British friends, one being reggae, the other one punk rock, third one hip hop and fourth one techno, who got together and started making music just for the love of it.

I like the fact that during the 90s we felt those CGI effects were already dated. We knew they looked like crap and they wouldn't age very well, but still people used them in videos and movies for some reason lol

love the footage of their live shows, really captures the excitement , The Prodigy Experience was such a breath of fresh air when it came out, It really is a classic album.
This and 'Out of Space' my fave Prodigy tunes!! Love to see them dance - love how videos back then were about dancing and having fun rather than posing and grinding!!
Don't lie there's no one called Liam in the Prodigy. They is only 1 guy in Prodigy and his first name is "The" and his last name is "Prodigy". Don't chat shit mate.
The Prodigy's music has always been a Liam Howlett solo thing. Yes the others may have had input in terms of opinions early on, but it wasn't really until Poison and then subsequently Firestarter when Keith walked into the studio and laid a vocal on an otherwise great instrumental. The iconic video basically made him a frontman of sorts, even though Maxim had been the predominant MC for the band live. Keith and Leeroy were just dancers. Yes members have come and gone (Sharky, Gizz Butt etc) but the 3 are the only real members of the band. As for production and writing, I doubt the process is quite as insular as the Experience days but it will till be Liam doing everything musically, with the inclusion of various studio vocalists who may pen their own words and vocal melodies such as both Keiths, Juliette Lewis etc. I don't think Liam named the band over anything but his Moog but when it comes to the bands music, he basically is the Prodigy. When it comes to live, the other members have always come into their own and even from early, set the band apart from the rest of the rave scene. Exciting shows, and Liam fucking with the tracks on his W30's instead of just playback.
Not really, there were LOADS of great Old Skool hardcore artists who were equally as good as Prodigy, if not better. Acen or Hyper-on Experience, for example. Just cos Prodigy cracked the mainstream (& I LOVE Experience & Jilted Generation by the way) it doesn’t really make them better than the others. I mean, Hyper-On Experience’s “Lord of the Null Lines” is easily the equal of any Prodigy track, & I’m fairly certain Liam would agree tbh.
As many others have said, still a killer of a tune to this day. A word of warning though, never listen to it whilst driving. One time I did, and I won't put on the internet what speed I clocked when I checked the speedo. Lets just say it was considerably above the legal limit!
The Porsche and head object (originally Beethoven), are was found in original Imagine rendering software object disks. Probably it made with Amiga computers.
First heard this on the radio aged 13 and it sounded like nothing else, just so out there, so exciting, got me into music basically. Still love hearing it today.
