The Active Time Lore system is one of those ideas that's so good you wonder why nobody thought of it before. If I was reviewing the game I'd add a whole point just for that feature.
I agree, at first it sounds like lazy story telling (traumatised by FFXIII's data log) but in practice I actually like the ATL a lot. I think one reason is because those info aren't required for me to understand the main plot, they are like little good-to-knows.
The game of Thrones blueray discs have this feature but in a game it works even better because we need to have the controller on our hands 100% of the time anyways so it's a much more integral part of the experience here in XVI
"I can't wait to watch someone else play this. I want to experience this for the first time vicariously through someone else." Well, that's why many of us are here.
Final Fantasy already has some of the best music in gaming but this demo is already top tier FF music. Literally every track fits the scene so perfectly. The grandiose music is unreal.
Glad I caught the stream on time to watch you experience this live. I woke up at 4am when the demo dropped in my timezone just to play it as soon as possible
It would be challenging a much weaker and much more flawed game if Zelda wins Goty its because it's called Zelda rather than by merits of its own since other than the exploration that game has nothing to offer
thank you for turning on speaker names in the subtitles...you're just my second in a list of 13 content creators that did that! loved your reaction and I sure hope you post those private reactions you get when playing the main game soon since I can't wait for them!
Jill is not adopted. She is from another kingdom placed there as a sort of ransom. But she grew up alongside Joshua and Clive so they have a ... sibling-like relationship. But heh not blood related.
I mean, that sort of adopted, even if it’s not official adoption. But I get the point, I’ve gone back and replayed and read all the active time lore so I’m caught up 👌🏻
Imma be honest, I don’t think Clive sees her as a sister. I’m sure Joshua did. I think Square messed up a bit in the lore on where they both see her as a sister. I think it was only supposed to be Joshua.
Just subbed and love the channel! I hope I don’t get hate, but I actually see a couple of elements from FF Mystic Quest in this game. The way party members drop in and out throughout the story and are AI controlled, and the world map. Not a bad thing, it’s refreshing to encourage focus on our main character.
You could try Xenogears, that game was supposed to be the real FF7 but then Squerenix changed it to Xenogears and created the FF7 we know today. I think you will like it :) for me personally the order is FF9, Xenogears then FF7
30:00 I already saw this on the demo and on my ongoing playthrough, but that feeling never really goes away. Yes, that's the most intense Final Fantasy moment known to man. Anabella must die!!!
not gonna lie, i love the graphics and the combat.. but it just feels like im watching a netflix series and not going on a journey. not my cup of tea but glad you enjoy it :)
The return of the duke is the baratheons and lannisters visiting winterfell. Phoenix gate is the red wedding. Clive turning into ifrit is a similar to concept of warging the books
So far my only nitpick is the slight pacing issue, I (sorta) get it they wanna make sure players follow their tutorial step by step but throughout the demo I find myself walking for like 30-45 seconds, then a cutscene, then another 1-2 minutes and a cutscene, then I fight a battle and another cutscene. Luckily the story introduction was very well written it kept me invested for the most part. I hope in the final game they'll incorporate some of those cutscene conversations in real-time, or they give players 1-2 hours of gameplay following up with a long ass cutscene, I'm fine with either one. But all in all I gotta say, as a classic turn based FF fan, while the battle system took some time to get used to, I'm surprised at just how much I care about the characters, it's definitely been quite some time since I last enjoyed a FF story this much. Nice job Square Enix, I'm excited to see how the series develop in the future.
I mean I heard the game has 17 hours of cutscenes which I’m all here for since I want to get all I can of the story, but I mean you should probably get used to seeing a lot of them
@@InfamousTerry4 Yeah I'm all for the story too, it's not so much the cutscenes but more so I feel like the demo is a little bit too choppy for my liking. For example the part where you need to control Clive to go from the throne room to his bedroom, to me that's just a bit.. unnecessary..? (like I totally wouldn't mind if they combined those cutscenes into a longer one) This is especially apparent in the beginning of the demo where you'll randomly be in control of Clive after a cutscene, just to run straight for 5~10 seconds before another one plays. They kinda break the tempo of the game & storytelling in my opinion. Anyway I understand this is a Demo, I'm essentially nitpicking because otherwise, I have nothing bad to say about my experience. I am really excited to play the actually game ^_^
This is just how rpgs are, story heavy intro but once you've gotten into it the game will open up much more and you'll be able to play at your own pace
I really want to get into the games but I just can’t? It’s something about the dialogue I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s like conversations don’t flow naturally or something. It seems to be all JRPG types or even anime tbh. Wish I could get over it but it’s all I seem to notice.
.... The primary script for XVI was English. It was retranslated back to Japanese after the English script was written and the Japanese script had to be edited to match up to the English recording and facial animations. To me it sounds like it's imagined because it's from a Japanese company and not what's really there.
@@jmstover that’s interesting. I’ve still got the demo downloaded and plan to give it another look because everyone is raving about it. I probably do have a biased view going into so probably something to the same effect as placebo is going on. Hopefully knowing what you’ve said I can give it a new perspective. The game does look great so I want to like it.
@@tysonmac6936 I'm not going to deny there are some localizations that I scratch my head on; or that it doesn't match up well with the animation at all. In this case though, it wasn't a secondary thing. I do hope you're able to enjoy it. The story looks amazing... (battle system for me... meh).
While I understand what you're describing, Kingdom Hearts 3 is particularly egregious for it, I didn't feel FFXVI was, the voice work and dialogue feels very natural to me, albeit fantasy-esque.
Something being brand new isn’t the quota for being good. You can tell similar stories with similar plots it’s the journey and execution and theming that tears them apart and makes it unique and worth investing in. Although I will say I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about
Well it's a good thing no one's ever had a story similar to Romeo & Juliet. And thank god there's not been anything else that follows the story arc of Star Wars...
I don’t understand the appeal. I guess the visuals look good. I think people give it extra points just because it’s like anime. If you don’t like anime there is not a lot to like
Couldn’t disagree more. The writing, the combat, the world building is all spectacular. Even if it looked like a PS2 game those elements would remain strong, the presentation is just a cherry on top of a well built video game.
its not your cup of tea but this is so well made and the story is amazing compared to other games. if you compare it to films or shows its somewhat generic but the delivery is so well done that i didn't even mind a few predictable plotlines
@@justinsanegaming9724Don't see why a comparison needs to be done between films and shows - there's a ton of generic content in those mediums. The worldbuilding, characters, and storytelling seem to be very well detailed and written though in this game, and I can't wait to experience it.
