There is an infamous/famous RU-vidr/streamer ( wingsofredemption) who lives in Conway. Sooner or later your comments section is going to be filled with references to him ( Wendy's, Pepsi, V6, Sean Franklin, etc)
Bought in Conway March 2021. Was able to get a below asking offer accepted on a house in the historic district. Happy to be outside of the tourist zone as well. Learning the alternate routes and avoiding 501 is key. Conway has more of an old south look but there is a lot of traffic on the main drags. Over time I hope roads will be reengineered as there are a lot of horrible intersections with no traffic control and people seem to drive with little regard to others. So I drive by example. People are shocked when I leave room to merge, pull out of a driveway or change lanes. The taxes are the main reason but all the rest is bonus. It's a beautiful town.
The only times it takes a while to get to Myrtle Beach from Conway are peak hrs like 7-9, 12-2, 5-7 schedule your day around that and you'll get to the beach in 20-25 minutes
Thank's Jeremy, for all the interesting and informativo video!😊👍 Back in the 60's, we lived in Loris and Conway, and made enjoyable tips to Myrtle Beach. Loris and Conway, were lovely quaint southern towns._ Some fond memories. My husband and I are seniors, now_ and have lived in Texas for years. Back in 1978, we had our honeymoon in_ Myrtle Beach, and regret, we did'nt visit Conway, again, but_ definitely plan to again, soon! We may want to stay there!😁
I can't believe how much real estate has gone up in the area! It seems like they can't build the houses fast enough. The condo we bought in Surfside in 2019 could go for double what we paid for it now, seeing the comparisons. Amazing! I am glad we bought in when we did!
Agreed! I actually have a video coming out on this next week. The prices & market are very strong and not showing any signs of slowing down here anytime soon!
Thanks to Joe Biden even houses here in Florence,SC are thru the roof. A co worker of mine just had to spend 220,000$ on a 1,200 sq ft house on the edge of town
My family lived in the area for over 40 years. Socastee, myrtle beach and I was born and raised in Conway. It definitely has its pros. It's a congested area, but during high tourist times it can get crazy. It's a fast paced area with new things always coming and going. I haven't visited in a few years, now that my family is gone it's no longer home. But I can tell you one thing, going to the donut man would be worth the visit by itself ❤️
Just got back from spring break in Myrtle Beach yesterday. Went to visit a church in Conway and afterwards visited a development by DR Horton out there and toured a $285k house. Liked it!
My soon to be wife and I talking about places we want to move to when I retire in December and Conway is one of the places. Being 20 minutes from the beach isn't a big deal to me, I lived in Titusville Florida for several years and it's 20 minutes from Cocoa Beach so the time doesn't bother me and the traffic isn't a big deal either because I GUARANTEE there's more Tourist in Cocoa Beach then there are Myrtle Beach..... We both love the "small town" feel of a place like Conway, we currently live in Central Missouri in a town of 12,000 people so Conway is twice that size we have travel to big box stores already, our travel now is an hour though so that will get cut down also.
Live in Redhill right outside Conway towards Myrtle Beach. Have quick access to 544, 501, and 501 business, but traffic can be a nightmare 😒Been here about 12 years and love it👍Have one vehicle and taxes are LOW compared to the north. Conway has a nice, friendly, vibe, with great food. Enjoy the River Walk and little street festivals that they have. My advice is to look at the LATEST flood zones maps and purchase flood insurance accordingly. With the numerous construction projects happening It's gonna change the topography. Honestly folks it's a nominal cost considering the damage a few inches of water can do. I remember when engineers had to use bags and concrete barriers on 501 after a hurricane 🤔 We're on higher ground and thankfully never flooded.
Thanks for the info Jeremy . I live in NYC and I’m expected to retire in 3 yrs . Is South Carolina a pension friendly state . Also quite naturally from your video the cost of living is great . What advice would you give for looking possibly for a home and good realtors in the Conway area . Thank you .
Conway is a much better city than MB to live anyway. MB has a very high crime rate, huge tourist numbers in the warm months, much higher storm surge risk during hurricanes, more expensive housing prices (as you pointed out), and isn’t nearly as attractive as Conway. Yet Conway still has close access to the ocean and recreational assets that MB has. Great video.
I am only a few weeks away from closing on our new construction home. We are so excited and will be moving right in the hot time of June or July. We understood this going into it. I won't have to shovel hot.
@@jeremyblanton Well we've since completed closing. I've decided to leave those snow shovels for the new owners of my PA home Earlier this week we had a frost warning! Yesterday it as 92! Shaking my head......
Congratulations on your purchase. Thinking of relocating from CT. Any advice? Did you start building prior to selling your home in PA? Did you move yourself or use a moving company? Can you recommend a realtor.? Thanks for any helpful hints.
@@andreaduarte189 Hey Andrea! I'm a REALTOR® :) I'd love to help you make the move to the area. Feel free to call me at 843-222-9402 or email me info@jeremyblanton.com
I miss going to central park for a burger 🍔 and 🍟 with a large Arnold Palmer and shopping at bugle boy and walking in Waccamaw pottery and going to the first outlet close to Conway going towards the beach before the new tangler outlet but Conway is closer to the beach than we were in Tabor city NC when I lived down there and we have to take 22 and ride on the road going the swamp
I went to high school in conway graduated in 1984 left went into the military lots have changed I know I could take a bus to the beach I work on the beach .
Main question is how is parking near the beach. If you pick one of these neighborhood further away and drive to the beach are you paying for parking, is it hard to find parking, thats one of my fears is move a few miles away and then its just difficult to get to the beach. Mainly lived in NYC so this is kind of all i have experienced
Honestly, I've never really had an issue finding parking at the beach. There is public beach access about every 2-3 homes, each with 6-10 parking spaces. Whenever we go down to the beach, if one lot is full, we drive down a little more and the next is open...
Great video - thanks! Are there homes in neighborhoods where people can park (not live in) their RVs on their property? We would be relocating with an RV and do not want to store it at a storage facility. Also, if we move to Conway as retirees, much of the time will be spent going back and forth to the fitness and senior centers. Are there backroads to/from those locations or does one have to get on 501? Thanks!
Hey there Diane! Yes, there are areas where you would be able to have an RV parked on your property and not need to store somewhere else. Also, there are some backroads you can take to get around, but most of the time you are going to end up at some point on 501.
I've looked at the Conway area as they have medical facilities and I'm a nurse. I found a reasonable home near the beach in Ocean Lakes. Thinking that would be perfect to help with paying off a mortgage in 10 years by using it as a vacation rental during the Spring, Summer and Fall. I'm planning to retire in 10 years and want to live in a beach community. Certainly safety is a factor and the Myrtle Beach area does not fair well with the crime rate rating. Can you share your thoughts about this idea? Appreciate your videos. They have been very helpful.
Hey there! Ocean Lakes prices seem really affordable, but what gets overlooked is the fees for lot leases. In there you do not own the land, you have to lease it and it can get really expensive quickly.
???? In the State I currently live in (Idaho) our home insurance and property taxes are built-in to our mortgage payment. Is that the same in South Carolina?
My sister lives in Little River and she says Conway has a lot of crime?? Is that true?? Also like you said it floods Alot!!! I always liked that area....
A lot of crime? Are you kidding? I live in Conway and we have much less crime than surrounding areas, especially Little River. No idea where she got that. Not true.
@@maryleerobinson1933 what about the flooding? Are you able to get flood insurance or are you pretty much SOL and have to take care of any damages if it does flood?
I’m a retired federal employee looking to downsize and leave the DC metro to a more tranquil area. We have a very diverse population here and I must admit I am concerned about judgmental people. I’m an academic type and being closer to the costal Carolina university there is appealing.
Best of luck in your search. I'm guessing you are liberal. If you are and want to escape the high taxes and all the other problems liberals have cause, please do not vote to bring those problems to SC. For the record, I'm just outside NYC and liberals have destroyed NYC and the Hudson Valley area. I retire in 3 more weeks and I'm done.
problem in buying in SC is that there is no requirement to disclose square footage, to start with. Have had friends who bought a place in MB and there was a tremendous amount of shoddy plumbing and electrical that seemed to have been passed by the inspectors . . . buyer be careful.
Yes...alligators are in Conway too. Any area in SC has the potential for alligators. They are even up in the lower part of NC. They don't bother you, just don't walk or walk your pet on the water's edge. We all live peacefully together and respect each other.
