Im so glad you made this video. The truth about the Digiboil Gen 2's is actually much worse then your experience! We have a Gen2 Digiboil, that E3's CONSTANTLY! And...it does not auto correct, in fact, it sends the temperature through the roof...so high, that a fire hazard is very much a concern! I highly recommend everyone reading, to NEVER buy a Gen2 Digiboil...they are downright dangerous.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one experiencing this! I almost burned my house down because the digiboil wax melter decided to heat up soooo quickly (only 20 minutes) my entire room was smoking it was so bad. Ive decided to invest in a professional wax melter (one on candle science website) but it is $$$

Apparently, that is because people are using the 1000W and not 500W. KegLand has responded on a lot of videos they find with candlemakers using them and they're advising candle makers to keep their Digiboils at 500Ws because although the pot may autocorrect a few times, it's not actually auto-correcting, it's breaking the system and ultimately causing the issues you're describing but all of those issues can be avoided by leaving the unit to heat up on 500W.

Literally you guys are just wrong. I've had ZERO issues and most of the time it's the users fault. If you used it right then it wouldn't do that. Repercussions of children playing with adult things

@@dakotaburch3799 If you were right, the company wouldn’t have had to go back to the drawing board and create an all new model, that does not have these issues, which is indeed what they did. Sounds like you got 1 that works fine, a lot of ppl did not

My understanding of the laser thermometers, is that they read surface temps. I believe they shoot through the melted wax and measure the surface temp of the inside wall of the melter, not the actual wax temp. Just something to consider.

Always love ur tidbits of information. I dabble in making soy jar candles ans T-lites. I find it fun and makes me think. Because I am a stroke and cancer survivor I can’t push myself too much. Having said that I constantly have people asking to buy. I have fun gifting. And would not have a clue what to charge. Congratulations on ur baby bump! All will go great! Thanks again!

Hi there. Thanks for this video. It's very helpful. I could be wrong, but I think yours are all Gen 1. The Gen 2 has a silver loop at the top to lift the lift. The Gen 1 has the black handle.

I just bought a Digiboil and the E-3 message popped up. Tested the wax temp and it was 370 degrees. 😮 I set the temp to 180 F but after watching your video I realized a lower temp is necessary especially if you don’t fill it to the top.

What do you do with the wax that is left over in the digiboil? Also, when most folks do their testing, do you reuse the containers? Thanks in advance for any help.

@@therealunclep Im also curious if they just leave the wax in the digiboil all the time or if they only put in how much wax they want to use at a time. example if i buy a 40lb case of wax and load it all in. can i melt it all and then only use 10lbs and leave the 30 in the digiboil? Is it ok to reheat and melt wax down over and over again?

@@mattcrosslin811 From what I understand now, that's what people do. I don't think I will leave a lot in the tank. I will try to estimate how much I'm going to use at a single pouring time.

I have a question. When you turned your digiboils on in the video the displays were in Fahrenheit. When I turn mine on the default setting is celcius. I read the entire manual and I can’t figure out how to change the default to F instead of C. Did you somehow set yours up to do that or did yours come like that? I know how to change it to F but it’s annoying to do it every time and I always worry I might forget one day and accidentally heat it way too high.

Your digiboil link goes to the beer site but is on a page that has nothing. It doesn't link you to any product. So which digi boil would you say to get? Regular or Gen 2?

I build PID controllers for mushroom steamers. I was just wondering why you haven't used a PID to keep the wax at the temp you want it at constantly? It would take the guess work and the constant monitoring of the wax away. A PID would keep the wax within a degree of what you set it at.

FYI - I was told that the “e-3” error reading was because there wasn’t any melted wax at the bottom and the machine was on. That’s why it goes away once the wax has melted some. QURSTION- my laser temp gun, I ordered calibrated. Is yours not or is mine still not reading properly?? TIA

I have a ToAuto boiler because it was a affordable but is there any worry that if im not stirring the wax the whole time during heat up and cool down process that later when putting fragrance oil in the wax doesnt accept it as much? Thats what ive always heard you need to stir constantly but maybe thats just a myth

@@MemoryBoxCandleCo ah yes, that youre suppose to stir the wax constantly. Supposedly stirring while its boiling and while cooling and as you add fragrance that it helps increase a hot throw. Maybe i misunderstood that

@@richardm5204 we don’t personally do that! We just heat up the digiboil, pour the amount needed into a pouring pitcher, pour in the FO and stir!

I think they are just center blocks, you could just pick up some at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Thank you for your video. I'm wondering about a few things. Try not to laugh. If you melt more wax than you end of needing what do you do? Also, Doesn't wax get clogged in the spout?

You leave it in there and let it solidify for the next candle making session :) that’s the best part of digiboils/wax melters! And no it doesn’t because the whole tank gets hot and it melts the wax that clogs in the spout. The only issue we have is the beeswax clogging sometimes because it has such a high melt point

Such a waste, if you set it to a specific degree you want to measure, but the inside temp is entirely off, than what’s the point of having this if it’s off by 20 degrees in your case?? Was considering getting this but clearly it’s not a good piece of equipment.
