They focused so much on the amazing animation and art that they forgot about the writers 💀

Honestly one of the things I hate when people talk about the reboot is when they dismiss the whole thing as trash including the art. Bull. The art style is great. I love looking at it, I love the style and colors and textures. The animators behind the scenes worked hard on this show and put a lot of love and care into it. I just think that's something that deserves to be appreciated and admired.

I love how much the reboot pays respect to the old design and color palate, which are what I remember most from watching the original series as a kid. The updates to the style are so well done and show that a lot of care was put into making this!

If there's one thing louder and proper did right it was the art

2:49 Fun fact: the family members in the Juneteenth episode are actually based off of some show staff's own family members. Breana Navickas posted on her twitter that the little girl and the grandma were based off of a picture of herself as a kid and her own grandma who had passed.

My partner, who is an animator, said you're spot on. Specular highlights play a massive role of making things look more in-depth. He said TPF's art team is wonderful and that "somebody knew what they were doing" and that they did. Look at the gradient of Penny's hair when she's talking to Maya, and also, check out the way that Maya's hips move when she walks away, from an animation design, that is actually very cool. The mesh models they used are really detailed. He works w/animation and he said that this is a very well-done designed show. That cardigan is sooo pretttyyy!!! It's been a bit Tony, but I hope that you're doing well!

The art style is actually what caught my eye my I first started this show!

As an artist myself, you did a wonderful job talking about this. It just proves you don't need to be an artist to know if art looks nice or not. All it really helps with is spotting details faster and maybe a few terms to help explain. I do love the textures they put on everything and how they use shadows and lights. One thing I do want to point out that I really like is the colors of the shadows and lighting, they're all different from their base color they're on. Most of the time they color light yellow-ish and other warm colors, but at night 2:18 the light is blue and other cool colors. And they consider how intense they might be based on time or where they are. Even with just the clips in this vid, you can tell what time of day it suppose to be by that alone. Most 2D cartoons don't do too much lighting consideration beyond "is it day and night?" or a special location. It all helps give a really nice glow.
