It looks like the money saved on mods alone make this Retrotink 4K pay for itself and gives it a lot of value despite its high price for those of us that have a lot of consoles. I can't wait to get mine.
I like the convenience of my DCHDMI modded consoles, but Mike's RT4K has absolutely perfected picture quality from Analogue input with those Auto Gain/Phase settings. Game changer. I won't be looking at any HDMI mods for the foreseeable, especially given their behaviour of late.
Ill never buy another pixel fx product after they sold their mods with drm. Cant wait for round 2 of the retrotink 4k. Well worth the price and you get what are sold.
and is FXR better or XBR since the morph 4k has it as a feature so I have no knowledge of the smoothing options , pros & cons of said smoothing features@@ArchadesGames
Eposvox said the retroGEM cleaned a green cast the ps2 analog out had, but from you footage it looks the exact same, I suppose he was using bad cables or his console was faulty. BTW awesome video as aways!
Been holding off on getting a Retro Gem and just going RetroTink 4K. That way I am not limiting myself to only a HDMI PS2 and can use all of my retro systems. Interesting I came across this. Thanks!
Both look the same in this comparison, but I'd go with the Retroink 4K for its CRT phosphor mask emulation, which can turn a pixelated image into something beautiful.
HI, I think I missed it but what kind of capture card are you using to record gameplay? I'm seriously considering buying a RetroTink but haven't committed to it as I don't have a very good capture card. The visuals are looking really crisp and pretty vibrant for what I see so far.
Did they remove Direct Mode in the latest firmware? I can’t seem to find it in the ‘video’ settings. I’d like to have my RetroTink 4K do the heavy lifting on the deinterlacing.
Hello man, thank you so much for your video. I currently own a 4K 32 inch monitor from Samsung. I want to play PS2 games with my PS2 console. Would you recommend retrotink 4K or retrotink 5x for my use case? I am still contemplating between the two. Thank you!
If you won't use the advanced scan lines and features the 5X is great for PS2 and does deinterlacing very well. 1440P output is also hard to tell apart from 4K in most use cases of a scaler at normal viewing distances.
Depends on the deinterlacing your TV provides imo. If it does a good job and has low input lag it will look better than the jittery deinterlacing the GEM provides. The image will be softer though. So a few factors to consider.
PS3 has a number of shortcomings in its BC for PS1/2. Bilinear Filtering, stretched images where they shouldn't be etc. if you don't mind that stuff then it's fine enough but nowhere near as clear as this.
