Maybe for simplex PTSD survivors, but for C-PTSD victims, it takes multiple bad days over the course of several years.

When I think of the concept of the Joker, I often am reminded what the killer in the movie _Seven_ tells the cops. Something along the lines of _People are asleep, and nothing short of a baseball bat to the head will wake them up_ . In a sense, the Joker *is* that baseball bat. The chaos he brings is, in a sense, Postmodern. He respects no social norm. He is the _Clownworld_ . In that sense, he is the truth that everyone's hiding. And the truth hurts.

You put it well, completely agree. Never watched the movie Seven, but the sentiment rings true for sure👌

@@TheMeaningOfNerd_Seven_ is an indispensable movie to watch. It came out in 1995, but it should have come out in 1994 in terms of influence. It must have been immediately filmed after _The Shawshank Redemption_ judging by Morgan Freeman's filmography. Put it next on your list. REALLY.

The Joker’s obsession with corrupting everyone and everything is to show that nothing is above corruption, degradation, ruin, and collapse. Because that is what happened to him. If he can destroy everything in the world, then they are no better than him, they just didn’t have their bad day yet, but he will give it to them. It acts as a defense mechanism

Great video. I'm no psychologist, but even I can see why you couldn't narrow down the Joker's psychology. Simply put Joke has no singular definitive interpretation. Essentially this comes down to the writers simply needing a foil to Batman's order through fear of him by criminals, SO they take the normally happy and positive clown motif and made it into the Joker who does over the top schemes that don't spread joy but chaos and destruction, often making him seem insane. The different Jokers basically vary on a spectrum, on 1 end is the campy one from the 60s, he fights Batman but does over the top schemes that the audience laughs at the ridiculousness of. On the other end of the Spectrum is the Agent of Chaos, often depicted by Heath Ledger's Joker, a seemingly insane clown themed villain who does crazy schemes just for chaos, destruction and killing people. From there the writers often depending on the type of media will add his motives. Doing it cause he wants to, or wanting to challenge Batman and his morals, or pushing Batman to his limits to make him actually try to kill the Joker. Most heroes and villains through the reboots follow some general iteration of the character, but Joker never does, At his most basic Joker is just a clown themed villain who does his crimes for insane motives. So you have to analyze each individual Joker instead of Joker as a whole. It also doesn't help as rarely does Joker have a back story, his most iconic one is him for whatever reason took up the mantle of a small time crook called the Red Hood and in a fight with Batman at Ace Chemicals falls into a vat of chemicals that bleaches his skin white and hair green, and maybe damages his mind. Whatever iteration we see he's always fun, watching Batman fight him and challenges his wit against Joker's seeming insanity, always knowing that it would be easy for Batman to just kill him and end this menace, but that he can't as it would mean Joker wins as Bat's would break his moral code of not killing. I think it would be cool if in the comics Joker actually reveals that the reason he does what he does is because at one point he was capable of reason, but because of all the blunt force Batman used on him over the years his brain received permanent damage, so in a way Batman made him only worse. That could be a cool plot for the future.

I'm glad you liked the video & yeah I agree with your assessment. The joker is no one entity. It's hard, if not impossible, to define him in any one way given his various outings. Also, you final idea on why he became the way he did, is actually a great idea. It would also put Batman's moral code into question.
@TheZamaron
@TheZamaron Год назад
@@TheMeaningOfNerd Thanks, and yah, I think my final idea would be epic, what's more tragic of a realization for a hero ten them being the cause of their greatest threat, especially if they use the Red Hood origin as the official one, means this would be worse 2 or 3 times. First that Batman fighting Red Hood caused him to fall into the vat of chemicals creating the Joker. Then because he never killed the Joker, all the blood on Joker's hands is in a way also on Batman's, and 3rd, maybe a being of higher power visits Batman and give him a vision like Christmas Carol, showing that Joker could have gotten help if Batman didn't keep fighting him so brutal, that all that hitting and brutal fighting gave Joker even more permanent brain damage. So essentially no only did Batman create his greatest enemy, but he only made him worse.

To understand The Joker is very complex. He acts like a nihilist.He isn't afraid of death or pain.But he is a bit sadistic too. Which is hypocritical.If nothing matters, I don't matter.You don't matter.The world doesn't matter.Even Joker himself doesn't matter. But if nothing matters,then why does he do the things he does?If one believes that life doesn't matter,then he might end his life[suicide]. And since Joker does some things that may cause him death,he is a bit suicidal. But still he has a goal to prove that deep down...we are all bad.Even as pure as Batman[who is actually a good guy here] is evil.I can surely say he is a bit of everything except humanity and love and emotions.He is hypocritical. Also Joker has no ID because no one cared to enlist him as a citizen as a child.[That is my theory].Different interpretations have different backstories,you can't explain him if u think about every comic and movie. But the worst part is ...He is disturbingly real.And he may exist in this real world. We only abide by the rules because we want to think themselves as good and want to be liked.Maybe if we could and if we had to we will all be as good as Joker himself. I can talk about him all day.So you better reply to this long comment. Although it doesn't matter.Nothing does.It is just a bad joke and that is why it is funny.Why so serious??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hahahaha, nice comment! Yeah I certainly agree with basically all you said, the joker seems to make no sense, while at the same time, appealing to a deep rooted desire within us. It's this dichotomy, this complexity & you could even call it hypocrisy, that makes him so intriguing. He embodies the worst of us & reflects it back unto us. In a way, he's a warning to ourselves, that if we don't watch out, we may easily end up like him...
@shafkatahmed5420

@@TheMeaningOfNerd Maybe only Joker can understand The Joker.And luckily we are not one of them,I hope we are not,I don't know. Very few villains are as manipulative and make us doubt ourselves as Joker does.That is why Batman is grey,not white.Ironically,the only white themed character became the villain,and that is very dark. I think about an alternate ending where Batman kills the Joker,and eventually Harvey,and that is the last movie.But people may not like that hyperrealistic story,everyone loves the good old Batman!

I believe he found freedom in the fact that nothing matters. Because if nothing matters you're free to do whatever you want. You're free to live out the chaos inside of you without caring about anything around you. I believe this was jokers mindset and he wanted to get everyone to realise the same. Even though maybe not all of us have this wild chaos inside of us as seen in the scene with the boats where they didn't kill each other as joker had hoped.

the joker IS the Trickster coming alive and burying the real mind into his subconscious, he is reversed. if that makes sense. that's how I interpret it. He let the trickster take full control over him, something we are afraid to do, to be fully ourselves. Love Joker even more after this video. He is a perfect character, not a villain, just the ultimate , perfect character ever created. Love him. your questions at the end: am I insane? am I a psychopath?... I think everyone is to a certain extent. as we all have these archetypes in us, it makes us all a little insane, psychopaths etc. some of us can hide it behind a mask, some let it out fully. that what make us different.

@Leroset 17 дней назад
You are correct. Modern psychiatry (Jung is debunked and no longer considered actual science) does not label people as insane or sane. Instead, it looks at things like if they’re delusional (out of touch with reality), if they can function (hold down a job, take care of themselves, have healthy relationships, set and strive for goals), and if they are happy or content with themselves.
