Plot armor in both cases. At least here and with Sentry Punisher had to run away because his foes were much stronger than him. Batman just isn’t allowed to be shown as less then his godlike friends because reasons...

i know people like to call it plot armor but the human character standing up to gods and stronger foes is a nice trope if done right

Yes, these imposters are one of the things that ruined Marvel for me. I don't want to see X-23 impersonating Wolverine. I want to see her as her own character and work with Katherine Pryde to fight her opponent that was specifically designed to counter her as a bonus.

I think he wasn't sure. He mentioned she can take a lot of damage and don't go for kill shots. That could also be interpreted as to conserve power and try to think of defensive positions to escape as a fight wasn't worth it. I think Danvers is written horribly, hate how past Mar'vell was just kind of written off, but the character itself is a powerhouse.

I was guessing CM was going easy on him, as she didn't want the fight spiraling out of control inside/over a populated city.

The Iron Man suit is enough for her. But if Frank wants to straight dominate her he would need the Hulkbuster, War Machine, Titanium Man or Kang armours.
