The Punk Rock MBA says Nintendocore is the worst of the worst, but I'm all like "nuh uh, dude."
Honestly I'm a fan of Finn overall. I don't agree with everything he says, but how dull would his channel have to be to never step on any toes? I respect his hard work and passion. His video I'm referencing obviously wasn't supposed to be a deep dive or anything, but I had to step up for Horse and the niche little genre I call home. (I will gladly give him and anyone else shit about ads though, because nobody likes ads.)

Yeah I have a ton of respect for them. I definitely understand that they aren't for everyone, but I won't stand for them being dismissed outright, ha. They deserve props for the crazy shit they've done.

He just seems searching for beef or pissing off people to get more attention. Cheap strategy but sadly effective. And then he just writes a generic comment on your great video to get maximum reach too. What a tool...

Huh! That's wild. Big fan of Finn McKenty and big fan of Nintendocore. That's unfortunate to hear. I didn't see this stream, though I got similar vibes when he trashed indie music. I got the sense that he equated the commercial use/success of a lot of those songs with every band and hipster fan automatically being hypocritical and money hungry. That's not the case for everyone, and it doesn't mean the music is all shallow or worthless. Glad to find your channel as well! I like Horse the Band, and have loved 8 bit music since I was little. Excited to check out your stuff. ❤

Ayy, glad you found the channel! Yeah I think Finn can be sweeping in his opinions. Then again, he probably exagerates some things for the sake of content as well. All good points. I watch Punk Rock MBA, but his off the cuff stream clips are brutal to watch sometimes. I know it's not supposed to be 100% serious but damn, like when he talks about Deftones he does the same thing he gets oddly personal. "Don't take my opinion so seriously have a sense of humor" Sure I get that, but man don't take your hatred of Nintendocore and Deftones so seriously. Dial it down a bit. 😂

I take a few months break from Nintendocore stuff on youtube and THIS is what happens? Man I been listening to Ncore since 2005 and HORSE was my favourite band for years, I've even made a few Nintendocore songs myself. So I get this kind of backlash from a person I work with, the guy doesn't listen to anything but current hard rock (which I hate) and can't stand like any other genre. It's very annoying.

@@Uhole Yeah I think guys like Tyler the Creator who had a lot of punk crossover fans had more influence on modern trap metal than brokencyde. Brokencyde is more interesting for being way too early. Their general idea was ahead of its time, but they were so early it was a mess.

I love finn...but he was so wrong on this one. The worst genres to me are, crunkcore, pornogrind, black metal, and doom metal...hands down. Nintendocore done right is honestly sick.

Reason why nintendocore is joke because 8 bit sound are really bright and more for up beat music. So it be better to be mix with pop punk than metalcore.

Well I wouldn't go that far ha, but I see your point. There's plenty of darker chippy music though- something like Lavender Town comes to mind for an old school example. Castlevania music, etc. Are there any pop-punk/8-bit bands you'd recommend?

@@Uhole there is hardly any. I am not a band but more of rock producer. I use vocal synth soft ware called vocaloid for the vocals. I been pioneering what I call chip punk. I use bitcrusher for my guitar tone. How I have bit-crusher settings it make guitar sound brighter and more metallic. It sound you hear nowhere else. I try to look to see If I was first to post song with how I use bit crushers. Not even gear demos use the way I do.

@@Uhole for me it's a tough split between Mechanical Hand and Desperate Living. Mechanical Hand for its deep root of Nintendocore. Desperate Living for probably being their most well produced album.

Horse The Band's tongue-in-cheek lyricism is some of the best I've ever heard, and their raw sound feels so honest. Also, I'm jealous of your Horse CD collection.

Finn thinks everything he likes, is S tier and the absolute best. It´s ok to dislike some band or subgenre and that´s ok, but being bias in all his videos doesn´t make him think straight and give bands the credit they deserve even if the bald guy doesn´t like it.
